Oh, the surprises that are in store! No, I'm not talking about the FA Cup third round, but the
January transfer window. The window's started, and soon, a flurry of footballers will be flying in
and out to new destinations. How many of them will end up at Manchester City? Well, at least [...]
We're only a week into the January transfer window, and the way that figures are being thrown about
for some players, you'd think that we were in the summer window. I'm not picking on Manchester City
by any means, because they're not the only club that looks likely to splash the cash this month, [.
We're already halfway through the January transfer window, and while there has been more
speculation than signings thus far, that could be set to change in the next week. As you would
expect, we have the latest on Manchester City's attempts to sign Kaka, but he's not the only player
they're after, and there [.
Can anyone imagine that a major American sports star like Kobe Bryant would wear a Barcelona jersey
on the cover of a mainstream sports magazine like ESPN the Magazine 5 years ago? 10 years ago?
Does this mean that soccer has finally arrived in the United States as a major sport? Obviously the
answer to that question is no.
With the focus on football today, it's a relatively slow day in transfer news and rumors, but I've
managed to scrounge up many of the day's best bits, including the latest on Kaka and Manchester
City's other potential dealings. England Kaka is going to seal his £108m move to Manchester
City next week.
Josep Guardiola.

Things are still quiet on the signing front as we start a new week, but there are a lot of rumors
to report on about who could be on the move either this month or in the summer. England Chelsea are
reportedly preparing a world-record bid for Barcelona star Andres Iniesta. (Daily Mail) Analysis:
Trying [.
While Juande Ramos' career at White Hart Lane is done and dusted, remains of his legacy can still
be spotted. Over the summer, Tottenham wrapped up an exciting £9 million deal for Barcelona's
Giovani Dos Santos. Once viewed as Barca's successor to Ronaldinho, fans around the league - myself
included - were anxious to see the Mexican's talents.
It's starting to get down to crunch time for sides looking to add the necessary reinforcements to
their squads with races for titles, European places, and survival in mind. Of course, every signing
this month isn't just about 'the now,' so make sure you watch this space daily so that you can say
you [.
"De entre los jugadores del mundo que me gustarían que reforzaran a la Juventus me gustan
muchísimos, aunque me quedaría con uno: Leo Messi", declaró el presidente del
conjunto italiano, Andrea Agnelli, a 'Tuttosport'. Ya sabemos que los diarios italianos suelen
abusar mucho de esos hipotéticos traspasos de Messi al Calcio.
When Jermaine Defoe rejoined Tottenham yesterday, he became the newest member of an extremely
unique club that has seen it's membership dwindle over the last few seasons. Very few players
rejoin a club they used to play for whilst at the peak of their powers but Defoe returns to
Tottenham with his best years ahead [.
Today's transfer roundup isn't light on the latest news and rumors about who definitely will be
headed to new clubs and who could be in the near (or distant) future. England Manchester City have
opened the bidding for Newcastle keeper Shay Given, tabling an offer of £8m for the Irishman.
(Daily Mail) Analysis: Newcastle might [.
ESPN The Magazine just came out and in that cover we see none other than LA Laker star Kobe Bryant
wearing the blaugrana colors. Every time an athlete, actor, actress, or person in the media
express either an interest or fanaticism towards a team, its fans' chests expand with pride.
It is the nature of [.
Whatever this is just defies description. There are surely some strange stretches out there, but
this one seems a bit too personal. At the very least it should be done within the confines of
Samuel's own home. And preferably with a sex worker. Wearing gloves. Follow The Offside on Twitter
The Reds have unveiled their latest away shirt for the 2009-2010 campaign, which will be black with

First things first, the last few weeks have been very hectic in my "real life" because
I've fallen behind in my research, and as a doctoral student, my adviser is not happy with me,
which is why I've had to take a vacation from the soccer blogosphere. So you can imagine my
disappointment that despite missing two games and nearly two weeks into the January transfer
window, nothing remotely interesting has happened at Lyon.
The gushing over Barca continues, only this one isn't limited to their current world crushing
squad, it's for their run of the last 17 years - apparently that's when IFFHS began using
statistics, which makes this so much more official. And, like their current domestic campaign,
they've done it with a hefty cushion between themselves [.
As I wrote on the Orlando Sentinel's; the Other Football . According to Elmundodeportivo.es,
Barcelona has a pre-contract in their possession awarding them the Miami Franchise! The contract
was sent from the U.S. and is now being revised by their legal department. It states that by
February 15 an official announcement will be made and the contract states the team will begin in
2010.
Así de rotundo se mostró Villa tras el encuentro que su equipo ganó al

en el Valencia. "Espero que ésta sea la última vez [.
So today I get the following email from my co-blogger Chris: Easy Weekend Post Barca are now the
best team ever through half a season in La Liga. 50 of a potential 57 points. Quite the feat. Also,

This isn't a subjective rating, it's merely the ten most expensive transfer fees by price of the
summer 2008 throughout the world (read: Europe). Because I don't feel like doing the pound to Euros
conversion right now (and neither do Brits - bada boom), I'm going to leave it in the poundage the

Total football is back On a sub-zero Sunday evening in Spain, runaway league leaders, Barcelona,
showed they could ally battling qualities to their undoubted flair and panache. Trailing 2-1 in
some terrible playing conditions, Barca had to dig deep to secure an incredible 3-2 victory. Late
goals from the influential Xavi and Lionel Messi simply added more integrity to the claim that this
team is the finest of its generation.

The tag of phenom can be taken off of former Barcelona youth player Giovanni Dos Santos.

the blaugrana, he ended up in London.
