They may have lost to Osasuna over the weekend, but don't blame it on lady
luck, por favor! Here's a snapshot of Barcelona's 'girlfriends club' at the Nou Camp last
week during Barca's Copa del Rey semi-final fixture.
From left : Antonella Rocuzzo (Lionel Messi) Daniella Semaan (Cesc
Fabregas) and Julia Vigas (Thiago Alcantara) all cheered their men on
from the stands.

Watch, mere mortals, and weep as the slightly more 'agricultural' 50% of Barcelona's central
defence pulls off not one, but two 360° roulette tricks in a row as he maraudes his way through
Valencia's midfield during last night's Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.

The following photo has just landed on Pies' doormat in an unmarked Manila envelope, and
professes to be the new Nike home kits for Arsenal (featuring the gruesome black collar
and cuffs that Arsenalinsider alluded to a few days back), Barcelona (replete with
Corel Draw 3-style colour gradient) and Manchester United (seven shades of ugly
Gingham tablecloth).
Barcelona came back from conceding a 9th minute goal to beat Valencia 5-1 on Sunday. Lionel
Messi scored four of those goals just because he can, but with Barca up 3-1 in the 77th what seemed
like a routine substitution of Thiago for Cesc Fabregas got a little frisky. Fabregas gave Pep
Guardiola a hug as he made his way to the bench, but after the two exchange a few calm words,
Guardiola shoved Cesc by the back of the neck.
Full credit to Osasuna who played like they had nothing to fear against their vaunted
opposition. Pep Guardiola resting Xavi, Iniesta, and Fabregas on the bench for the Bayer Leverkusen
CL first leg sent in Thiago Alcantara, Pedro, and Sergi Roberto. The latter breaking into the first
squad, all of four games old, completed the rejiggered midfield.

Welcome to another late edition of La Liga Lunes! Many of the Spanish
League matches took place earlier in the weekend (with Real Madrid's 4-0 defeat of Racing,
Bilbao's 3-0 mauling of Malaga and Barca's 5-1 merciless
demolition of Valencia last night- no comments), so in place of the
post-match updates, here's something on football's own Jolie/Pitt couple.
FC Barcelona took a good step towards proceeding to Copa Del Rey final with a 1-1 draw at
Mestella. Considering how tough we have found recently in Valencia, this draw is as good as a win -
especially because of the away goal. In the 27th minute Jonas put Valencia ahead, but Carles Puyol
equalised for Barca in the 36th minute.

Inter's wheels are coming off. After such a strong push to within sniffing distance of Milan and
Juve, they have lost to lowly Lecce, drew Palermo and yesterday, Roma took the lumber to them. Juan
gets the Giallorossi on the board, Fabio Borini's lovely brace follows, and the Bojan Krkic
finishes emphatically to give Roma a thumping 4-0 victory.
UEFA Power Rankings 7 February 2012 - The 90th Minute Soccer Blog
Below are my weekly power rankings for the top (8) clubs teams in UEFA. These rankings are a
combination of their play in domestic and UEFA competitions.
The rankings haven't changed from the last (late January) as the top three remain the same.
Co-hosts Gabon looked like it was going to be headed to their best showing in any ACN when Eric
Mouloungui shot them into the lead in the 55th minute. But Mali had other ideas as Cheick Diabate
equalized in the 84th minute. At the end of extra time, with the two teams deadlocked, the fate of
the match was decided on PK shootout.
Some areas of the press are suggesting that it hasn't been such a stellar year for Gareth Bale
in comparison with last season. Those reports tend to just point to the winger's hat trick in the
San Siro but they conveniently forget that this has been a much more consistent campaign for the
Welshman.

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is optimistic that manager Pep Guardiola will put sign a
contract extension soon.
Guardiola is known to prefer signing rolling one-year deals and with his current contract
expiring at the end of the season, the former Barca skipper has yet to give any clear indications
on his future at the Nou Camp.
Barcelona's shocking away form resulted in another loss last night, and with it any chance that
Barca has of retaining their La Liga title this season.
Barcelona have now dropped a staggering 16 points away from him in the league this season. As
incredible number. And a number that will cost Barca a chance to retain its La Liga crown.
FC Barcelona stumbled in their quest for a fourth successive Spanish La Liga crown by falling 2-3
to Osasuna on Saturday. The loss was Barca's second of the season and...
Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta concedes it will be difficult for his club to win
a fourth straight La Liga title but insists they will not throw in the towel.
Barca slipped 10 points adrift of arch rivals Real Madrid this weekend and, with Jose Mourinho's
men having won 19 of their 22 league matches this season, the prospects of the Catalan side
retaining their title are not looking great with 16 matches to go.
FC Barcelona has virtually assured themselves off a Quarter Final birth in this Season's
Champions League competition with a 3-1 away victory against Bayern Leverkusen. This is the first
time Guardiola has managed to win an away leg of the last 16 knock out stage in Champions League.
Two goals from Sanchez and one from Messi was enough for Barca to see the German side off at their
home.
Barcelona put one foot into the quarter finals by beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 away in the first
leg of their Champions League knockout fixture last night. A brace from Adriano and a goal from
Messi was enough to hand Guardiola a much needed victory after a tumultous few weeks.
Once again, it's Barca star Lionel Messi who is making all the headlines.
Well, that wasn't much fun was it. A few thoughts as follows:
* In some respects, I disagree with Arsene when he said that tonight was 'our worst night in
Europe'. There have been much more painful defeats than this during his tenure: Chelsea in 2004,
Liverpool in 2008, Barca in 2006.
Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta played the 2009 UEFA Champions League final against Manchester
United with a two-centimetre tear in his right thigh muscle it has been revealed. The news was made
public by Spanish football expert Graham Hunter in his recently published book 'Barca The Making of
the Greatest Team in the World'.
Lionel Messi shone his magic once again as he leads Barcelona in demolishing third place
Valencia 5-1 at Camp Nou by scoring four goals and providing an important contribution for Barca's
fifth scored by Xavi Hernandez.
The Argentinian's quart-trick also improved his goal scoring tally into 27 already this season
in the league, one behind current top scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, staging the set for a potential El
Pichichi battle for the two top players by the end of competition.
Lionel Messi starred in Barcelona's 5-1 home over Valencia on Sunday as he scored 4 goals to
take his tally in the league to 27 just one behind leading scorer and arch rival Cristiano
Ronaldo.
Despite winning, Barca still find themselves 10 points behind Madrid in the La Liga standings
and with 15 games left to play, it would take more than a slip up for the Catalans to be crowned
champions once again.

A sensational four goal performance from Lionel Messi saw Barcelona rally from a goal down to
demolish Valencia 5-1 at the Camp Nou on Sunday night.
The Catalans turned in their best performance of the season, eviscerating La Liga's third best
side with a relentless display of attacking football, outshooting the visitors by an astounding
32-3 margin en route to a resounding home win.

Real Madrid's coach, Jose Mourinho, warned his players not to taken things lightly ahead of
their weekend clash against Rayo Vallecano, as the Portuguese tactician considered them as a tough
opponent to face.
Having another potentially difficult pitch to play on doesn't really bother Mourinho as just
like against CSKA in the Champions League last midweek, the ex-Inter Milan coach doesn't want any
complacent from his squad and simply play their usual game.
Barcelona's coach, Josep Guardiola wasn't in the mood in commenting about his future as his mind
is simply focused on the Catalan's upcoming clash against Atletico Madrid, which could potentially
be another troubling game for the defending champion.
Guadiola acknowledged the improvement that Atletico made under the new reign of Diego Simeone
and urged his team to play their best game in order to get three points at Vicente Calderon.

where there's Khedira, there's Ozil (usually). In the name of
Bromance, Sergio Ramos temporarily took over the "duties" of the robotic-speaking
German in Real Madrid's 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano yesterday, which explains the

Having a wonderful season along with faith and support from his team apparently gives lots of
joy for Manchester City's star midfield, David Silva, who revealed that he has no intention of
leaving England as just yet.
Silva admitted that he has been received wonderful treatment in City at the moment and with
around two years left on his contract, the midfielder see it out before considering about his
future, adding that returning to La Liga is not on his mind either.
