Lio Messi scored the last two goals of the game in Barca's 4-0 stomping of
Sevilla.
Messi has now scored over 100 goals in his career so far with Barcelona.
A festive atmosphere enveloped the Camp Nou on Saturday evening as the boys of the
Blaugrana celebrated their unprecedented six-trophy year with their Barça faithful.
Villarreal was a mere afterthought as the Barcelona players deservedly received their plaudits for
a year of literal perfection.
The Roscón de Reyes is traditionally eaten on Epiphany, January 6. A round, candied sweet
bread, there is a hidden "Jesus doll" inside the bread, and the person who ends up with the doll is
crowned "King of the Day."
Only the players know whether Los Magos (The Magi) left them with treats or a lump of
coal in their shoes on Epiphany, but with this weekend's matches upcoming, they can begin the
process of maintaining their good form or making up for their naughty play from last year.

1) Lionel Messi/Barcelona
The twenty two year old is not only the best young player in all of La Liga, but the Argentine
forward/winger is flat out the best player in all of the world. Make no mistake about it.

Deportivo La Coruna-Athletic Bilbao
Deportivo La Coruna has performed one of the most insane magic tricks this season. Somehow the
squad is in fifth place despite not having one single player on their squad that has scored more
then two goals!
Yes, you can always count on the Crackòvia characters to quell your midweek
misery. With these guys around, you know that you're guaranteed to have a laugh. This time, check
out this skit centered on Senor Pep and contract renewal with Barca. Or better
still, Laporta's INSANE reaction to the news as he breaks into a
sing-and-dance!
Ever felt like rocking some FC Barcelona gear in the office or for a night out but have been
prevented from doing so because of some silly corporate or nightspot dress code or girlfriend /
wife policy? Well, FCB has the solution for you via their brand new "premium" clothing line called
the Barça Red [.

Barcelona-Villareal
Barcelona looks to keep up the pace of a first place squad this weekend in a tough test against
Villareal. The Yellow Submarines really had a slow start to the season and for awhile there it
looked like the squad might not be able to avoid the relegation zone, but good clubs rise to the
top and Villareal has done exactly that over the last few months.
Spanish La Liga leader FC Barcelona was held to 1-1 draw by a spirited Villarreal side at the Camp
Nou earlier today. Rising star Pedro Rodriguez put Barca ahead in the seventh minute as he pounced
on a rebound from a Thierry Henry volley. However, the Yellow Submarine's David Fuster equalized in
the 51st with a one [.
For the second time in as much as visit, Villareal maged to take a point away from Nou Camp.
Villareal's away form has been very poor this season, but that didn't stop them drawing and almost
winnin g the match in the end. With this win Barca has moved clear of Real Madrid by three points,
but the Madrid based side can equal Barca in points if they manage to win tonight at Osasuna.

Copa Del Rey swings back to action with Sevilla's visit to Nou Camp tonight. FC barcelona will also
be looking to put back their game back in track after a not so satisfactory draw against Villareal.
FC Barcelona met SWevilla in the same competition two years ago and the Catalan outfit went through
on away goal.
FC Barcelona surpirisingly lost the first leg of Copa Del Rey quarterfinals at home to an under
strength Sevilla side. FC Barcelona now face a near impossible task of winning the second leg away
from home with atleast two goals clear to proceed to the next game. Two matches into the new year,
Barca is still looking for their first win of the year.
Defending Copa del Rey champions FC Barcelona and Spanish La Liga 3rd place side Valencia C.F. both
suffered surprising loses in the first leg of the Copa del Rey Round of 16 earlier this week. A
depleted FC Barcelona suffered a rare home loss to Sevilla by a score of 1-2 at the Camp Nou while

Daniel Pacheco claims he couldn't have a better role model to learn from than Fernando Torres.
The former Barca teenager got the chance to play in the first team with El Nino against Fiorentina
and Wolves and would love to repeat that experience in the near future.
"For a young Spanish boy it's amazing to play alongside Fernando," Pacheco told Liverpoolfc.
When the Racing de Santander board fired Juan Carlos Mandiá on November 9, the team had only
won one game out of ten in La Liga, and they had lost the first leg in the Round of 32 of the Copa
del Rey against UD Salamanca, a mid-table club in the Segunda División. This job was Mandiá's
first in the top flight, as his previously managed teams, Logroñés, Hércules, and Real Madrid
Castilla, were all in the lower divisions of Spanish football.
Appointing young, relatively inexperienced but high profile coaches seems to be in the in thing
at the moment. This is perhaps inspired by the success of Pep Guardiola at Barca. Under his
leadership the club have swept all before them in recent years. But this tactic hasn't worked in
all cases and last weekend's clash at the San Siro was a prime example of how things can go
wrong.
A solitary goal victory was not good enough for Barca as the two home goals they conceded proved
crucial. Xavi's strike in the second half had given Barca a deserving lead, but some poor finishing
from strikers and some great goal keeping by Sevilla custodian Palop made sure that Barca never got
the all important second goal.

Sevilla might be the odd man out.
After I went off last week concerning the "top" team's inability to handle inferior squads
Valencia, Barca and Real Madrid all defeated their unworthy opponents on Sunday. This is old
news, but the REAL news is how this translates to a mid-season run for each club.
Defending Copa del Rey champions FC Barcelona and Spanish La Liga 3rd place side Valencia C.F. were
both eliminated from the Copa del Rey in the tournament's Round of 16 yesterday. FC Barcelona
were unable to recover from last week's 1-2 loss to Sevilla at the Camp Nou in spite of their 1-0
away win.
World-renowned architect and Valencia native Santiago Calatrava designed the Ciutat de les Arts
i les Ciències, pictured above, one of the iconic landmarks in the city of Valencia.
With the gap widening between Barcelona and Real Madrid and the rest of the league, Valencia,
Deportivo La Coruña, and the other potential contenders need to keep winning and hope that the top
two slip on some wet spots along the way.
After being the second best in the Copa Del Rey clash against Sevilla, this is the best time for
Barca to regain focus on the league. Sevilla eliminated Barca in the Copa Del Rey and Barca will be
out for revenge tonight. The Copa Del Rey tie was actually lost at home so barca will be looking to
correct that with a glorious victory against Sevilla at home.
Athletic Bilbao 1 - 0 Real Madrid
(1-0) 2' Llorente
Athletic Bilbao came out all guns blazing as they struck the post twice and scored the decisive
goal inside the first two minutes to send Real Madrid crashing to a demoralising
defeat. Fernando Llorente headed in from an early corner after Lass had directed
the ball into his path, rewarding Bilbao for a riproaring start that had the Madridistas rocking.
Messi took another step towards immortality by becoming the youngest player to score 101 goals
for Barcelona.He scored 2 in Barca's 4 - 0 win over Sevilla at home..

Roots of discontent are growing in Madrid...
As Barca rolled over Sevilla 4-0 (something I wasn't expecting I mean, I thought Barca could
beat Sevilla, but not 4-0) Real Madrid lost 1-0 to Bilbao for no apparent reason. For the first
time we're seeing the word "frustrated" associated with Real Madrid and now we're all left to
wonder if Real Madrid is pushing the panic button too early.

1) Barcelona
Barca has only given up 10 goals in 17 matches this season. That fact does not get the
attention that it deserves very often, but that just might mean that Barcelona owns not only the
best offensive unit in the whole world, but maybe the best defensive unit as well.
The world's best player ensured Barca avenged the Coppa del Rey exit at the hands of Sevilla
when he scored two goals in the 4-0 rout of the Rojiblancos. Lionel Messi not only helped the
Catalan club thump Sevilla but also made sure the lead over Real Madrid got extended to a
comfortable five points.

Valencia could go on a HUGE run in February...
By virtue of 4-1 and 2-0 victories on Sunday Valencia and Mallorca both made strong moves closer
to the top of the Premier Division table.
Valencia put up 4 goals on Villareal in a match that was not nearly as lose as the score
indicated.
Pep Guardiola has finally agreed terms on a new one-year deal to remain as manager of
Barcelona.
There has been a lot of press speculation in England that Manchester United would like Guardiola
to replace Sir Alex Ferguson when Fergie finally leaves Old Trafford at the end of next season.
The Plaza Mayor in Valladolid presents one of the jewels of Spanish Baroque architecture.
As La Liga heads into the midway point of the season, these next few rounds are some of the
hardest of the campaign because the toil of playing for five consecutive months begins to wear on
the players and the coaching staff both physically and mentally.
Barcelona have yet to suffer a defeat in la Liga and will complete half of their season's
fixtures this weekend. In 18 matches played, the Catalans have won a remarkable 14 matches and
drawn the remaining four games. Barca have the best defensive record with a mere 10 goals conceded
and have scored a league high 46 goals.
Real Valladolid 0 - 3 Barcelona
(0-1) 20' Xavi, (0-2) 22' Dani Alves, (0-3) 54' Messi
Barcelona reached the halfway point of the season unbeaten with yet another sublime performance
which saw them reach 23 goals away from home. A breathtaking break saw Xavi put
them infront before a cross-come-shot from Alves put them further ahead two minutes later.
Lio Messi scored the last goal of the game in Barca's 3-0 win over Valladolid.
FC Barcelona trounced Real Valladolid 3-0 to move eight points clear at the top of La Liga on
Saturday Xavi, Daniel Alves and Lionel Messi scored for the defending champions to put them eight

Marius Stankevicius will join Sevilla for the rest of the season on a temporary mid-season loan
from Italian Serie A squad Sampdoria. Stankevicius is expected to dress out this weekend for his
new club. And the twenty eight year old joins a squad that has struggled recently and look to
bounce back this weekend against a beatable opponent in Almeria.
