The Merdeka Cup in Malaysia is an annual event which was won last year by the hosts who beat

Malaysia, Sierra Leone, Myanmar, Vietnam, Nepal, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
The partnership between Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Citycell that is expected to give
the dying game in the country a lifeline was made official yesterday after the two parties signed
an MoU for the development of football.
Citycell will provide the cash-starved BFF Tk 16.5 crore over the next three years as the
federation's 'partner in progress'.
After an ISL meeting on Tuesday it was announced the League will have a two or three week break

October stop December, start January.
For ages the Malaysian FA website has been announcing the Merdeka Cup which this year will take
place in October. What is harder to ascertain is who will be participating.
Sterling detective work by some of the guys on the Kallang Roar message board has come up with
this.
It looks like Bangladesh and Vietnam will be two of the teams taking part if the stories are
correct.
