Phaitoon Thiabma, who enjoyed a couple of spells with Persijap in the Indonesia Super League, has
been called up by new Thai coach Winnie Schaefer ahead of their opening World Cup Qualifiers.
Missing from the squad is the Thai Premier League's Sarayut Chaikamdee. I watched Thailand during
last years AFF Cup and often felt their game lacked its normal fluidity by having the relativley
static Sarayut as a target man.
It's finally arrived, everyone. The day we've all been slogging through summer for. The start of
a dreamy ten-month long season of bliss. The Arsenal are playing again. *add triumphant horn music
when technology allows*
The game kicks off tomorrow, Saturday the 13th, at 5:30pm UK time, 12:30pm Eastern, 9:30am
Pacific.
Having read what my fellow blogger Arief blogged earlier on in his blog, I received this press
release from "Football Management International & Trebol Sport International" that reads
We are pleased to announce that Bangkok Glass has signed our player, Sylvain Idangar on
a 2-year contract for an undisclosed fee for the Thai Premier League season 2011.
According to this article in the Daily Record, Thai Port have signed Scottish midfielder Steven
Robb. The 28 year old has made over 150 appearances in the Scottish League for Dundee, Dundee
United, Raith Rovers and St Mirren. Welcome to the Thai Port, Steven!

FORMER St Mirren winger Steven Robb last night revealed he has been the butt of jokes after
deciding to move to Asian outfit Thai Port.

merchandise.

Prior to this afternoon's draw to decide this year's RHB Singapore Cup fixtures, there were all
sorts of confirmed unofficial information (as those weren't issued by the FAS) circulating around,
pertaining who were the foreign sides being invited and who decided not to come.
As far as we are concern before the draw, the only confirmed official information was the decision
by Courts Young Lions not to take part in this year's tournament due to conflicting schedules and
fixtures, as mentioned on their website.
Three British clubs will tour Asian cities in the Premier Leagues' off season. Two EPL London
clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea, will play against a Malaysian XI in Kuala Lumpur; Arsenal on 13 July
and Chelsea on 21 July. Arsenal will subsequently play Chinese Super League side Hangzhou GreenTown
on 16 July and Chelsea will play the Thai All-Stars in Bangkok on 24 July.
The English Premier League's Asian Trophy is a biennial tournament and the only Premier
League-affiliated competition to be held outside England. This is the fifth Asia Trophy, the others
having previously been held in Kuala Lumpur (2003), Bangkok (2005), Hong Kong (2007) and Beijing
(2009). Competing for the Barclays Asia Trophy Hong Kong will be Chelsea, Aston Villa, Blackburn
Rovers and the
My 18 month old son wants me to bring him back a Bangkok Glass Bunny. I only hope she fits in the
checked luggage!
Anyway, now finding out the game with Chonburi tomorrow is all ticket so may not be heading all
that way after all...
I've probably seen Bangkok Glass more than any other Thai team with the exception of Thai Port.
Yet it could have been more. But, as it says on the tine, this site is a look at South East Asian
football from the terraces. And the pub!
Last year I was in Singapore for the Cup Final. Bangkok Glass were up against Tampines Rovers
and it promised to be a goodie.
Come fly with me Chelsea's players passed the time on their flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok
with a spot of TV work. Salomon Kalou took over as cameraman for Chelsea TV. For some reason best
known to himself, Kalou brands himself as "David Cameroon" during his interview with Fernando
Torres. The presumably accidental mispronunciation [.
What have we learned from Arsenal and Chelsea's Far East experience?
Chelsea are bringing a taste of the Premier League to Asia and our very own John Cross is on the
road with them, bringing you all the behind-the-scenes gossip and news... *** My trip around the
Far East is now into its fourth week, having taken in four different cities.
Perhaps I'm showing my age but Robbie Fowler most definitely ain't of my era. I was getting
ensconced in Bangkok as he started making ripples in the Premier League and I remember him scoring
a quick fire hat trick for Liverpool against Arsenal in one of his early games.
Now I've moved on from Bangkok and he has moved there.

Lucas, we realise that your hair situ wasn't (and shouldn't have been) uppermost in your mind
while you were visiting a soccer club for under-10′s in flood-hit Bangkok. For that reason, we're
not going to give you a hard time.
But you do seem to be sporting a bit of a combover there.
Sarayoot Chaikamdee has joined Bangkok Glass on a two-year deal after his contract with Thai Port
expired on December 31st. 'Joe' cemented his cult status with Port fans during the 2010 season,
netting 24 goals in 48 appearances.

Former Phnom Penh Crown striker Uche Prince Justine is reported to have signed for Thai Division
One side Chula United. Who wear pink. The stocky, powerful striker had two seasons in Cambodia
netting 25 goals last season. He is joined in Bangkok by former Kirivong striker Julius Ononiwu.
Thai Port were involved in yet another goal-fest this afternoon, as they continued their 2011
pre-season campaign with a trip to Iron Bull Stadium to face Bangkok FC. The home side managed to
edge out their more illustrious Thai Premier League opponents by four goals to three.
THAI PORT STARTING XI : 39.
Given that nearly everyone these days, especially in places like Singapore and Bangkok, is either
on line or not far from being on line is it really necessary for papers to just regurgitate news
stories, ok, football stories, from England or Spain?
For example yesterday it was reported in England that West Ham were favorites to win the right to
use the Olympic Stadium in London after 2012.
A Manchester United club statement has today revealed that former captain and current
ambassador, Bryan Robson, has throat cancer.
"Bryan Robson underwent an operation to remove a tumour from his throat on March 3, 2011 in
a hospital in Bangkok. The laboratory report revealed a cancerous tumour, which will need further
treatment.
I think I'm gonna drop the Thai Premier League from my list of games to see this season. It's so
obvious Buriram PEA will win the title and don't be surprised if Buriram get promoted either. They
sit 6th after their opening four games but crucially remain unbeaten.
Back in 2009 it looked like the TPL was on course to become the major league in the region but the
nefarious influence of certain individuals, plus your run of the mill incompetence, means that 2010
was, at least in my feeble opinion, a bit of a let down, though I may have had a different view had
Bangkok Glass managed to show consistency.

Andy from Cambodia Football is reporting that David Booth has been sacked as coach of Thai Premier
League side Si Sa Ket. Of course, they won at the weekend, defeating Pattaya United 2-0, a victory
that sees them climb to 11th in the 18th team league just a point behind highly fancied Bangkok
Glass. Well, they have deep pockets at least.
English Premier League giants Chelsea FC confirmed they will send the full squad to Thailand for
a friendly match against Thai Premier League All Stars team on July 24.
The Coke Super Cup match will be played at Rajamangala National Stadium.
Apart from the Bangkok stop, the Blues will also visit Malaysia and Hong Kong as part of their
Asian tour in the summer.
I have a soft spot for Thai Port, mainly because I lived just round the corner from them for many
years in my Bangkok days. Football has been kind to them recent years winning the FA Cup in 2009
and the League Cup in 2010.
The start of 2011 saw a new investor talking big money but negotiations are still on going with
players not having been paid for a while now.
BANGKOK (4 May 2011) – The FA of Thailand (FAT) will appeal against the
decision to eliminate them from the second round of the 2012 Olympic Games qualifiers imposed by
the Asian Football Confederation's (AFC) Disciplinary Committee.
Thailand were deemed by the AFC to have fielded a suspended player – Sucharit Chanthakul –
when they beat Palestine 5-4 on penalties in the first qualifying round.

Singapore fans may have queued overnight to buy tickets for the World Cup Qualifier against
Malaysia this Saturday but they have been lees keen to commit to the second leg.
4,000 tickets were bought within hours of going on sale, though applicants could buy a maximum of
four per person which could see a flooded black market and banks of empty seats if scalpers had
moved in hoping for a quick killing.
