The 2010 Thailand Futsal League season gets underway on Monday, with Port Authority taking on
Bangkok FC at The Mall, Ngam Wong Wan, Nonthaburi. I don't really know much about Futasl, but I
will try my best to report Port's results throughout the year.
Udom Taveesuk's men will go into the season full of confidence having performed superbly to reach
the semi-finals of the AFC Futsal Club Championships in Iran.
Chelsea have announced on their official website that they will play against a Thailand XI on July
24th 2011 @ Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok (pictured below). The match is part of Chelsea's Asia tour
that will also see them play fixtures in Malaysia & Hong Kong during their preparations for the
2011/12 EPL season.
Second half goals from Natwuti Madyalan & Vivat Sreeyanong gave Port their 13th win in the last 14
games. Despite that, they are still 4 points behind league leaders RBAC going into the weekend
crunch fixture between the top two teams.

At the moment it is unclear as to how many teams will be in the 2011 TPL, but it could well be 18
if the latest rumours are anything to go by. What we know for certain from this season is that
Muangthong United regained their TPL title, holding off a late challenge from Buriram PEA.
Congratulations to them.
This time last year, I had Chelsea on top of the rankings and people were complaining that
either Real Madrid or Barcelona should be top of the chart. But when Chelsea won the Champions
League, I was vindicated. Wait a sec . . . Chelsea didn't win the Champions League. But, then
again, neither did Real Madrid nor Barcelona.
I know Vietnam about as well as an Issan taxi driver knows Bangkok so loved this map I found on
Viet Football
Finally a moth eaten TPL kicks off today. I had a flight booked for Bangkok this weekend but with
no games in the capital that looks like money pissed against the wall. Second time it's happened,
last time was when some bods in red shirts decided to go camping at the airport. What a place!
The message is clear.
According to the Thai Port website, Saturday's TPL fixture against Police United has been moved
from a 4:00pm kick off at Suphachalasai, to a 5:30pm kick off at LEO Stadium. It will be the
Policemen's second match in a matter of weeks on the synthetic surface of LEO Stadium, as they
kicked off their 2010 TPL season with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bangkok Glass.
Here are some highlights of Sunday's Thai Port vs Muangthong United TPL fixture. Below that is some
bonus footage of the recent Bangkok Glass vs Thai Port friendly match at LEO Stadium.

Belfast based Glentoran F.C have announced on their website that they will play Thai Port as part
of their end of season trip to Thailand. The Glens are due to spend 5 nights in Pattaya, and 6
nights in Bangkok from the 23rd of May. During their stay, the Irish Premiership side will play 3
friendly matches against Thai Premier League opposition.
Port Authority were beaten 5-3 by league leaders RBAC at The Mall in Bang Khae. RBAC, whose squad
is packed with Thai internationals, raced into a 3-0 lead, before Port staged a spirited comeback
with goals from Natwuiti Matyalan & Wuttichai Tintawee to reduce the deficit to 3-2. RBAC stepped
up the level of their play in the latter stages of the game and increased the lead to 5-2.
After asking the other day just what official attendance means today I get the answer in, umm,
Today newspaper.
It seems that when calculating the official attendance security officials, match officials and
issued complimentary tickets are included. The referee's assessor is included! The guy at the gate
who tells you not to bring any bottles inside the stadium is included.
The Thai Premier League All-Stars will take on 2009/10 Europa League winners Atletico Madrid at
Rajamangala Stadium on Sunday August 1st. It is rumoured that the All-Star team will be chosen by
former Thailand International Piyapong Peu-on, with players such as Michael Byrne, Therdsak
Chaiman, Nattapon Phanrit and Teerasil Dangda expected to be named in the squad.
After RBAC's shock defeat against Sripatum, Port Authority seized the opportunity to close the gap
on the league leaders to 4 points, by beating Samut Prakan 5-0. Ukrit Taengtung opened the scoring,
before both Wuttichai Tintawee and Chanyut Muangchan scored twice each.

At the end of my preview article for the Thai Port vs Al-Qadsia first-leg match, I wrote: "It is
vital that we take a positive result into the second-leg, because from what I've heard about these
kind of games, you don't get much out of the referee in the Middle East". That comment looks
even more pertinent following the AFC's announcement that the match officials for Tuesday's game
are all from Iran, a country separated from Kuwait by 9 miles of Iraqi desert at their closest
point.

The Malay Mail was tipped off by a source from abroad claiming the individuals linked
to fixing the President's Cup and on-going King's Gold Cup matches could be involved in "arranging
international matches" in the region.
This included the Thailand-Zimbabwe and Thailand-Syria international friendlies in Bangkok last
year.
In December, I posted an article (taken from Siam Sport) about a 4 team tournament at PAT Stadium
involving Thai Port, TTM Phichit, Osotspa Saraburi and Home United supposedly starting on January
5th. Since then, there has been no confirmation from Thai Port, and my contacts in Bangkok don't
seem to know anything about it either.
I had a quick look through the archives, and produced a breakdown of Port Authority/Thai Port FC's
record (league matches only) against the 2010 TPL teams, over the last decade.
The table suggests our bogey teams are BEC Tero and Chonburi. We've played Chonburi 8 times and
have only beaten them once, which was on the first meeting.
Thai Port have announced a friendly match against Chula United, which takes place at PAT Stadium on
Saturday 9th January, kick off 4:30pm.
For me, a fixture against Chula is more then just a football match, it's class warfare! The oiks
from Khlong Toei (Thai Port), against the Bangkok elite (Chula).
No dia 06-01-2010, jogaram pelas Eliminatórias da Copa da Ásia, na cidade de Bangkok, no

Siam Sport claim that TTM Phichit are set to sign Thai Port striker, Nirut Camsawad. Nirut finds
himself way down the pecking order at PAT Stadium, behind Sarayoot Chaikamdee, Sompong Soleb,
Issarapong Lilakorn et al. Even when Port were struggling for strikers in the second half of last
season, Camsawad barely featured.
The Asian Football Confederation have released the official fixtures for the 2010 AFC Cup. Thai
Port are in Group H alongside Woofoo Tai Po (HK), and Geylang United (Sin). There is still one
place left open in the group, that will be filled by either Sriwijaya (Indo), or SHB Da Nang (Vie)
depending on which teams lose in the Asian Champions League qualifying stage.
The Thai Port squad have this week been busy putting in some hard graft in Kanchanaburi Province,
located 110 kilometers west of Bangkok. At the end of a tough week, the players can look forward to
some match action (details below).
Muangkan vs Thai Port @ Kleab Bua Stadium in Kanchanaburi on Sat 23rd.
The rumoured friendly match between Thai Port and the Myanmar National team has been confirmed. It
will take place today (Weds 3rd Feb) @ PAT Stadium, with a 5:00pm kick off time. Admission price is
50 baht.
The match will be the first chance for fans to use the newly constructed stand behind the goal (see
pics below).
Wisut Bunpeng, who was one of two notable absentees from the newly released Thai Port squad list,
has been linked with a move to Thai Division 2 team, Bangkok Bravo.
The striker, who joined Thai Port from Raj Pracha during the 2009 mid-season break, struggled to
make an impact during his time at PAT Stadium.
As recently as October, 2008 I was at the Thunderdome in a crowd of less than 300 people. And, if
it hadn't been for the two coach loads of SriRacha fans who were also in the stadium, which at the
time consisted of just one stand, it would have been considerably less. When you bear in mind that,
even though they were top of the league, they brought no fans whatsoever to Assumption for the two
clubs meeting earlier that season (unless you count the minibus full of African schoolboys from M.
The future of Thai football looked bright when Bryan Robson began his reign as coach of the
national team.
In his first competitive match in November, the former England midfielder guided Thailand to an
impressive 3-1 win in Singapore in an Asian Cup qualifier.
However, Thailand have since stuttered in the Asian Cup qualifying round.
The TPL 2010 is scheduled to kick off this weekend as Thai football seeks to build on the success
of last season. Things haven't started well with brawling fans interupting the season opener
between Muang Thong United and Thai Port as well as the national team going out of the Asian
Cup.
Now come rumours that games in Bangkok may not be played this weekend.

Not surprisingly they have the worst defence in the ISL.
Following a series of secret high level meetings over the last few days I understand it has been
decided to postpone the Thai Premier League for the forseeable future. The current political
security has been blamed with officials citing lack of security in Bangkok and mass demonstrations
creating uncertainty.
Some clubs get it right. OK, Muang Thong United's logo looks like an old Orient badge and their
colour schemes seem to be influenced by Manchester United and Real Madrid but there are on to
something.
But what about Bangkok Glass? For some reason best known to themselves they are nicknamed the Glass
Bunnies but their merchandising looks more Bugs Bunny than top flight football!
A state of emergency has been declared in Bangkok which could mean this weekend's TPL fixtures
scheduled for the capital city may be cancelled.
Thousands of people have been protesting in Bangkok, demanding that poor Thaksin get his money back
after it was seized recently. Not a bad idea. I wonder if I can get people to protest saying I
should be allowed to move to a larger house?
Here are some photo's taken by AS:SOON:AS in and around the ground at yesterday's AFC Cup fixture
against Geylang United. It was a big day for Port fans, as it was the first time they were able to
see an AFC Cup match in Bangkok, and the first time they were allowed into Suphachalasai Stadium
since the violence that marred the Kor Royal Cup match.
Thai Port go into Wednesday's AFC Cup clash against Singaporean side Geylang United on the back of
an indifferent start to the season. So far, the form book reads lost, won, lost. I just hope the
sequence continues for one more match!
Sasom Pobpraserd may well recall Pongpipat Kamnuan, Jirawat Makarom, Ekkachai Sumrei and Pitipong
Kuldilok to the Thai Port starting line up in favour of Nontapan Jiensatawong, Yai Nilwong, Worawut
Wangsawad, and Edvaldo.
Thai Port got their AFC Cup campaign up and running with a fantastic 1-0 win against Tai Po in Hong
Kong. Pitipong Kuldilok scored only goal of the match in the 48th minute.
Next up for Thai Port in the AFC Cup is a vital double header against Geylang United. The teams
meet at Suphachalasai Stadium, Bangkok on March 24th.
The start to Thai Port's 2010 season hasn't been the smoothest to say the least! We've had well
documented off field problems, we lost our first AFC Cup match, and saw the opening TPL fixture
against Bangkok Glass postponed due to political protests in Bangkok. It has meant that since
playing against SHB Da Nang 3 weeks ago, we've only had one proper practice match, a 0-0 draw
against TOT CAT at PAT Stadium.
