Teerathep Winothai was supposed to be the latest in a long line of talented Thais to make an
impression on the game beyond their own borders. But his highly publicised move to Lierse SK in
Belgium never really worked out and he returned to Thailand with Muang Thong United who farmed him
out to BEC Tero.
The Thai FA have more front than Brighton beach. A couple of years ago they promised to support
England's World Cup bid and in return England agreed to their request to play a friendly in Bangkok
earlier this year.
The Thais reneged on their promise and England, perhaps not surprisingly, cancelled their proposed
trip to Bangkok.
Thai international striker Sarayoot Chaikamdee is reportedly joining Army United. The former Thai
Port player spent last season with Bangkok Glass where he scored 15 goals during the 2011 TPL.
Where that leaves Army striker Leandro is unclear. The Brazilian hit 18 goals last season for the
team nicknamed The Gentlemen!

In most places, perhaps not the seedy underbelly of Bangkok, this type of treatment lying down
will run you some cash and an adult worker willing to go a bit off book. This fine gentlemen from
Brazil provides his goods and services free of charge.
And though this injury is of a different variety, there are probably less effective methods of
snapping an unconscious player back to reality.
I dunno how many football matches I've seen over the years in various countries; can't be far off a
1,000. But outside of a pub league game on a Sunday morning in brass monkeys weather I have never
seen a professional footballer take a phone call just minutes before kick off in a vital top flight
game.

Bangkok Glass have signed Cameroonian defender Valery Hiek. Should be a good signing for the Thai
team, Hiek has been a consistent performer for Home United over recent seasons.
BANGKOK POST
The Thai football team yesterday offered apologises to fans for their early exit at the SEA
Games.
The squad returned home yesterday after three defeats and only one win in Group A at the
biennial event.
"I apologise to our fans for our failure," said coach Prapol Pongpanich.
Tomorrow sees the Singapore Cup Final taking place at the Jalan Besar Stadium. Home United will
look to complete the first leg of a domestic double when they take on League Cup winners Albirex
Niigata.
Last year's affair saw Bangkok Glass defeat Tampines Rovers 1-0 (programme cover left) while I got
shitfaced in an infamous bar district with persons unknown and returned home with just a toy bus
for my son.

Lucas, we realise that your hair situ wasn't (and shouldn't have been) uppermost in your mind
while you were visiting a soccer club for under-10′s in flood-hit Bangkok. For that reason, we're
not going to give you a hard time.
But you do seem to be sporting a bit of a combover there.
Socceroos won in Bangkok last night.
And wasn't it fantastic. Tense, tight and terrific football - from the Thai's at least. With a
packed stadium in downtown flooded Bangkok the Aussies are no longer in Oceania.
And remember this is only the first group stage.
We needed a point - but if Robbie Kruse didnt know which of the Sutkee brothers at the end he
played with in Melbourne - Michael Zullo had a fair idea by the end of the night.
Perhaps I'm showing my age but Robbie Fowler most definitely ain't of my era. I was getting
ensconced in Bangkok as he started making ripples in the Premier League and I remember him scoring
a quick fire hat trick for Liverpool against Arsenal in one of his early games.
Now I've moved on from Bangkok and he has moved there.

Much is made of the booming interest in the Thai Premier League but I wonder how booming it really
is. Yes, 2009 was a good season but instead of consolidating or improving, 2010 was a mess and so
is the current season for reasons I have covered before.
But how about attendances? Are the fans supporting their local team?
There is a Thai FA Cup this year but unless you actually live at the Football Association of
Thailand offices in the Supachalasai Stadium, following it is a lesson in futility and the current
floods in Bangkok won't make things any easier.
The Round of 16, where did these stupid names come from?
It's been reported in Thailand that Muang Thong United and their coach Henrique Calisto have parted
ways. Which is fair enough when you consider the back to back champions haven't won a Thai Premier
League game since August 20th when they beat TOT 3-1. Indeed their last home win was 10 August when
they thumped Bangkok Glass 6-2.

be a local team, Home winning 2-1 on aggregate.

Screen-grab of the livestreaming of the matchAs what Thailand's German coach Winfried Schaefer said
before the game "Result doesn't matter" and so both his team and Singapore fought to a goal-less
encounter in front a near empty gigantic Rajamangala Stadium.
Singapore coach Raddy Avramovic surprised many by naming just recovered Fahrudin Mustafic in the
starting eleven for this Bangkok friendly.
Phaitoon Thiabma, who enjoyed a couple of spells with Persijap in the Indonesia Super League, has
been called up by new Thai coach Winnie Schaefer ahead of their opening World Cup Qualifiers.
Missing from the squad is the Thai Premier League's Sarayut Chaikamdee. I watched Thailand during
last years AFF Cup and often felt their game lacked its normal fluidity by having the relativley
static Sarayut as a target man.
It's finally arrived, everyone. The day we've all been slogging through summer for. The start of
a dreamy ten-month long season of bliss. The Arsenal are playing again. *add triumphant horn music
when technology allows*

Yeah, the above phrase, from known lyrologist Christopher Bridges, is kind of lewd. Hey, at
least I didn't use Bang cock in Bangkok when we were in Thailand. Area Codes, dude.
By now you should know that we're on the cusp of competing in our first organized tournament of
the new season.

It is difficult to draw conclusions from a preseason friendly, sure. That's not to suggest
certain impressions cannot be made, however. So, with that being said, let's take a brief look
inside today's exhibition in Bangkok.

Following our first two preseason friendlies of 2011-12, in which we were overtly lackluster but
still managed to win, Chelsea awaken somewhat in a 4-0 defeat of a pretty strong group of all-stars
from the Thailand Premier League.
Extended highlights of the first half are below. Hit the jump for a look at the second half.
Drogba is so fine. So fine.
Bangkok son. Our boys continue their trek through Asia today in the city of big, nasty, graphic
dreams. Who do we play? A merry, talented band affectionately known as the Thailand All-Stars.
What do I know about them? Absolutely nothing.

Come fly with me Chelsea's players passed the time on their flight from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok
with a spot of TV work. Salomon Kalou took over as cameraman for Chelsea TV. For some reason best
known to himself, Kalou brands himself as "David Cameroon" during his interview with Fernando
Torres. The presumably accidental mispronunciation [.

Singapore fans may have queued overnight to buy tickets for the World Cup Qualifier against
Malaysia this Saturday but they have been lees keen to commit to the second leg.
4,000 tickets were bought within hours of going on sale, though applicants could buy a maximum of
four per person which could see a flooded black market and banks of empty seats if scalpers had
moved in hoping for a quick killing.
