Martin Palermo experimenting with unusual methods of scoring goals: Wind assisted?
The Bombanera legend finally hangs up his boots as he plays his last match for Boca Juniors
against Banfield. Colombia declares a state mourning. But jokes aside, Martin Palermo was Boca
personified.
Sunday's biggest match in Argentina saw Martín Palermo a goal from a brilliant header in his final
superclásico, and Boca Juniors win 2-0 aided by an uncharacteristic error from River Plate
goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo in La Bombonera. Sunday's most ... Continue reading →
This weekend, no issues can be resolved, but a lot might become a little clearer. Two of the

empiezan a llenarse poco a poco.

How best to trumpet the start of the new season in Argentina?
How about a practice pitch brawl in what amounted to a walkthrough friendly between Banfield and
Estudiantes.
The reports say the game was a bit 'chippy' anyway, escalating when Juan Gasparini involuntarily
had his face rearranged by a Banfield counterpart.

As all football fans know, the use of the term "friendly" to describe pre-season and exhibition
matches has often been a misnomer. This fact reared its head again in a recent "friendly" between
Banfield and Estudiantes de Buenos Aires in Argentina.
After some unconvincing showings in their first three matches which, nevertheless, brought
qualification for the final group stage, Argentina's Under 20s improved a lot last night in their
final group match against Chile, winning 3-1 to top the group. Banfield's ... Continue reading →
