There's a clásico at La Bombonera on Saturday with Boca Juniors hosting San Lorenzo, and on Sunday

Velez Sarsfield 0-1 Banfield Copa Sudamericana
spotted at FIRST TEAM FOOTBALL
Friday evening's two games saw two firsts: Estudiantes de La Plata conceded their first goal of the
season in domestic competition, and Colón got their first win, at the fifth attempt. The
santafecinos beat Racing 2-1 in El Cilindro, thanks ... Continue reading →
Vélez Sarsfield beat River Plate 2-1 in Sunday's big clash to leave Ángel Cappa's side off the
pace in the title race, and (for the first time this season) in the direct relegation spots of the
Promedio to boot. Vélez ... Continue reading →
The Torneo Apertura gathers apace on the back of the selección's impressive win on Tuesday over
Spain, and the return to domestic action is a suitably juicy one in spite of there being no
clásicos this weekend. Leaders Vélez Sarsfield ... Continue reading →
Saturday saw Godoy Cruz visit El Sur and smash Lanús 4-1 in their own stadium with no fewer than
three golazos. El Granate will be happy that that particular bad news day came on the same day that
Argentina's female ... Continue reading →
Champions Argentinos Juniors are still without a win this season after throwing away a lead at home
for the second time in this Torneo Apertura. This time the beneficiaries were Newell's Old Boys,

My newest post has just gone up on In Bed With Maradona, looking over the biggest results of the

Sunday's matches began with another brilliant win for All Boys, who deservedly beat pre-weekend

Daniel Garnero
renuncia a Independiente (
aquí en detalle). Suenan
Miguel Brindisi, Nery Pumpido,
Leonardo Astrada, Fernando Gamboa, José Pekerman, Néstor Gorosito, Antonio Mohamed y
Américo Gallego.
The Copa Sudamericana has completed its second round and what a thrilling ride it's been. Seven
of the fifteen matches at this stage were either all-Argentinian or all-Brazilian affairs whilst
the other eight matches saw plenty of goals flying in across the continent. With the fifteen
winners going through to the next round along with defending title holders LDU Quito
Stoppage Time International Football Blog reviews the latest developments in a
tournament which is starting to capture the imagination in South America.
This weekend, we still have no clásicos but there are a number of tasty ties all the same.
Independiente will take a caretaker manager into their Friday night tie with Gimnasia; Nery Pumpido
has admitted he'll probably sign, but surely ... Continue reading →
After last week's contrasting results, in which Estudiantes lost to All Boys and Boca convincingly
beat Colón, the celebrations switched on Saturday when Estudiantes beat Boca 1-0 thanks to a

River Plate were all set to go just one point off the lead of the Torneo Apertura on Sunday
evening, until former Boca Juniors midfielder Miguel Caneo popped up to head home a poorly-defended
