You can't wait to watch Manchester derby tomorrow in Old Trafford? Are you kind of disappointed
because you won't see City's star 'Manu' Adebayor in the pitch? Are you an Arsenal fan fed up with
your team's last performances and bored enough to play the first random game you could find? Well,
we have this for [.
Oh the irony of it all: One of the wealthiest football clubs in the world, with a proven
world-class manager who is yet to splash some serious cash at his new club, and suddenly the bank
has been forced to involuntarily shut its doors until January 2011. All due to a little unknown
reserve team player (unless you play Football Manager.
Here's the latest on the now infamous transfer ban FIFA sanctioned on Chelsea a week or so ago.
You know, the one that involves a bemusing infraction perhaps non-existent but totally
incomprehensible regardless regarding a 16-year-old player who had, or had not, signed a
pre-contract with a club in a country where a pre-contract may or may not be tangible.
Eduardo's two match ban has been overturned by Uefa! This has just been reported on the BBC
Sport website, more news is to follow....
The Croatian was suspended after being found guilty of simulation in the Champions League
qualifier against Celtic on 26 August.
But on Monday, Uefa accepted Arsenal's appeal and he will now be eligible to play in their Group
H games against Standard Liege and Olympiakos.
At 16:44 on transfer deadline day - i.e. when the frequency of transfers is supposed to be at its
highest, Uefa announced - presumably trying to bury the story amongst all the transfers - that they
were banning Eduardo for two matches for diving.
Of course its ridiculous, but I think a comprehensive analysis is necessary just to show up how
preposterous this punishment is.
At the center of all the fuss is Gael Kakuta.
Alright so I know this is a day late and that most of you probably have heard about this already
but Chelsea have just been ripped a new one by FIFA.
I am, of course, talking about FIFA's ruling of banning Chelsea from making any transfers until
2011.
Eduardo's two-match ban for diving against Celtic was shockingly overturned by the UEFA
Appeals Body on Monday, thus nullifying what was intended to be a harsh example to deter others.
While an official explanation about "examining all the evidence" and that the panel had not been
"satisfied" that the referee had been deceived, the following is a transcript of what was actually
said during the Appeals Body deliberation.
Discuss.
I'm banned for four f****** months?!
Points you may want to touch on:
1. Why Chelsea is the only club singled out in this bogus monstrosity.
2. Will this ban hold up?
3. Why isn't anyone talking about the player, Gael Kakuta, and how his ban, a worldwide one of four
months, may turn out to be the most severe?
They Think It's All Over... is disgusted that UEFA have revoked Eduardo's diving ban, because it's
taking the game backwards.
Chelsea received a two transfer window ban by FIFA stating, Chelsea cannot register any new players
until January 2011. Chelsea has responded that they will appeal with the utmost strength possible.
This ban of about a year and a half was given to Chelsea because of the way they dealt with signing
Kakuta.
