Hypocritical UEFA Over Eduardo Dive

Eduardo, UEFA's scapegoat.

Let me begin by conveying how absolutely disgusted I am about this entire episode. First the dive by Eduardo (lets not kid ourselves, it WAS a dive) and then the hypocritical way UEFA has dealt with it.

We see the same circumstances every week. A player suffers insignificant contact and goes down and is awarded (or not) a penalty.

Surely this is not the answer?

Harry Redknapp says West Ham and Millwall should never be allowed to play each other in a cup tie again following the crowd trouble at their game and the riots around Upton Park on Tuesday.

The Tottenham and former Hammers boss believes the clubs should be re-drawn if they are paired in future.

Oh the irony of it all: One of the wealthiest football clubs in the world, with a proven world-class manager who is yet to splash some serious cash at his new club, and suddenly the bank has been forced to involuntarily shut its doors until January 2011. All due to a little unknown reserve team player (unless you play Football Manager.

Here's the latest on the now infamous transfer ban FIFA sanctioned on Chelsea a week or so ago. You know, the one that involves a bemusing infraction perhaps non-existent but totally incomprehensible regardless regarding a 16-year-old player who had, or had not, signed a pre-contract with a club in a country where a pre-contract may or may not be tangible.

Not much going on in the world of Chelsea at the moment. I'd gauge tomorrow will change that drastically.

Anyway. On the official front, the Blues filed appeals against the UEFA fine and bans handed to Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa for actions during that Champions League atrocity in May.

At 16:44 on transfer deadline day - i.e. when the frequency of transfers is supposed to be at its highest, Uefa announced - presumably trying to bury the story amongst all the transfers - that they were banning Eduardo for two matches for diving.
Of course its ridiculous, but I think a comprehensive analysis is necessary just to show up how preposterous this punishment is.

At the center of all the fuss is Gael Kakuta.

Alright so I know this is a day late and that most of you probably have heard about this already but Chelsea have just been ripped a new one by FIFA.

Eduardo's two-match ban for diving against Celtic was shockingly overturned by the UEFA Appeals Body on Monday, thus nullifying what was intended to be a harsh example to deter others. While an official explanation about "examining all the evidence" and that the panel had not been "satisfied" that the referee had been deceived, the following is a transcript of what was actually said during the Appeals Body deliberation.

I'm banned for four f****** months?!

Points you may want to touch on:
1. Why Chelsea is the only club singled out in this bogus monstrosity.
2. Will this ban hold up?
3. Why isn't anyone talking about the player, Gael Kakuta, and how his ban, a worldwide one of four months, may turn out to be the most severe?
