Several teams filled up the viewing area in the Athletes' Lounge yesterday to watch the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final, and they enjoed Andres Iniesta's strike in extra time that gave Spain their first World Cup title.
Oh, you wanted Academy results?

Second day of matches for the older age group, and here's how things shook out:
Crossfire Premier defeated CASL Chelsea FC Academy 1-0, putting the Washington club in 2nd in Group 1 with 3 points.
Local side Real So Cal defeated Baltimore Bays Chelsea 2-1, putting them 2nd in Group 2 with 4 points.

I was very fortunate to have Gordon Jago do a recent interview with Pro Soccer Weekly. On top of having a lot of success as a player and coach in his native England, Gordon is also one of the most important people in American soccer over the years. Soccer America recently published an article on Gordon, which reminded me of him and led me to reach out to him for an interview.

The official KCW Juniors blog has the scoop, but our boys are 1-1 through two games at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy playoffs. After losing a hard-fought game to the Baltimore Bays 2-1 Friday, we defeated the Dallas Texans, last year's champions, 1-0 Satuday. Jordan Rideout has both goals for the Juniors thus far.

Here's some information that likely isn't really needing it's own thread, but some things that I want to touch on real quick.
First, the Wizards Juniors were in North Carolina this past weekend for the group phase of the US Soccer Developmental Academy playoffs. The Juniors started the weekend on Friday night when they took on the Baltimore Bays.

From 64, to 32, and now down to eight. With the final matches of Playoffs done and dusted, here's who will be competing at Finals Week in Los Angeles, California for a Development Academy U-17/18 National Championship:

One advantage of having both teams here from the same club is the support each team gives to the other, evidenced by the Baltimore Bays Chelsea U-15/16 team watching the older guys play against the Concorde Fire yesterday. They were cheering, banging the signboards, anything they could think of to keep up the Bays' energy level.
