Balestier Khalsa v Gombak United 1-2 (Rivaldo; Park Kang Jin, Bah Mamadou) 2,189
When I was in Singapore at the weekend a breaking story featured a footballer who was having
difficulties with his marriage. No names were given at the time. Today comes news that Gombak
United will be without the services of Kingsley Njoku while he faces uncertainty over the future of
his marriage.

It's all square a piece at the Sultan of Selangor Cup 2010, as the Selangor veterans avenged for
their last year's lost to their Singapore counterparts with a 1-0 win at the Shah Alam Stadium,
thanks to a Sharin Majid's strike in the last third minute of the match, which was played 20
minutes each half.
With the VLeague kicking off this weekend Binh Duong are reported to have signed an $800,000
sponsorship deal with a bank, allowing them a budget of $4 million for the coming season. Compare
that with Persisam Samarinda in Indonesia whose budget I believe was about $3.5 million and
Balestier Khalsa in the SLeague who get by on $25, free passes on the MRT and Happy Meal vouchers.

Gombak United slipt into second place in the SLeague after overcoming Young Lions last night. Goals
from Chang Jo Yoon and Fazrul Nawaz put the Bulls ahead of highflying Balestier Khalsa and Etoile,
just a point behind Tampines Rovers
Another long weekend means the missus has given me permission to get out and about for a couple of
days. But the question is where?
It's FA Cup semi final second leg day in Malaysia on Saturday with Negeri Sembilan at home to
Selangor looking particularly tasty. Holders Selangor are 2-1 down from the first leg.

Scored two, conceded 29 in five games and totally pointless. We can call it a learning curve, we
can call it an embarrassment. I wonder which one the AFC would call it?

Sriwijaya are in danger of slipping out of the Indonesia Cup, a trophy they have won in the last
two years. They had to come from behind twice against a determined Persisam team and now are left
having to win their final game against PSMP on Friday with a cricket score to proceed to the next
round.

over, again, by the Young Lions who now find themselves in 5th spot.

No-one can explain football. Where you have a relatively even playing field where a team's finances
and quality cancel each other out then anything can happen. And that has to be a good thing surely?
Or Shirley?
It's boring when the same teams dominate year after year. Teams like Chelsea, Manchester United,
Barcelona, SAFFC.

SINGAPORE, 24 September 2010: The Singapore Asian Games team will be travelling to Ho Chi Minh City
on 26 September for the Eximbank Cup in Vietnam. With the Asian Games fast approaching, Singapore
will face a stern test as they play the Olympic teams of Iran, Malaysia, and host Vietnam in
preparation for the Guangzhou bound games in China this November.
After a four month hiatus the Singapore Cup returns today with Tampines Rovers playing Balestier
Khalsa. Teams in bold are Singaporean!
Last years runners up, Bangkok Glass, are involved in the tie of the round against South Melbourne.
In the last round the Thai side absolutely tore apart SAFFC defeating them 5-3 at the once
impregnable fortress (one for any literary/history buffs!

There's only one winner who got THE CHANCE and he is none other than 22 year-old Ahmad Fahmie Bin
Jamil, who emerged from the group of 400 players to be the chosen one to be Singapore's
representative in this global talent search organized by Nike.
Since the launch of the program at the end of August, the coaching panel led by former Lions
skippers Fandi Ahmad, Nazri Nasir and Aide Iskandar had been combing around the island to search
for these talented weekend warriors who can quench their thirst for the game at various hot-spots
where these players were unearthed.

Despite ending the season without a trophy SAFFC have announced that Richard Bok will still be
their coach for next season.
Unused to such a barren season it is thought that the Warriors are already looking for new talent.
Among those being linked are Frederic Mendy (Etoile) and Balestier Khalsa defender Daniel Hammond
