Two news broke out today which had been circulated around the fraternity lately.
(Picture from "Today") "Where are you, Bryan?"
Young Australian striker Bryan Soane had left Balestier Khalsa over contractural dispute, while management reshuffling took place in Sengkang Punggol saw coach Jorg Steinnebrunner and chairman Ben Lim walked out of the club.

At least we got one side of the story now (Part One..)

After I blogged on what why Bryan Soane sudden departure from Balestier Khalsa had only side of the story covered , this morning's TODAY had seems to reveal the other side of the story.
(Picture) Soane and agent gave their side of story
Finally, we got the other side of the story after the news broke out weeks ago that the young Aussie striker had quit and went back to Sydney.

Was at the Toa Payoh Stadium to check out Balestier Khalsa and Woodlands Wellington.
In an unusual format, the match was split into three halves with 30 minutes each which in the end saw Englishman Daniel Hammond, signed from the Young Lions, scored the only goals to seal the game for the Rams.

Got this SMS update just and the writings are clearly on the wall (or screen rather) that Balestier caused an upset by shared the spoils with one of those "early pace-setters" I mentioned, Tampines Rovers.
Seems like same ol' story for the Stags, which saw they took the lead through ex-Kashima Antlers player Seiji Kaneko in the 54th minute before the hosts levelled one-all by one of their imports, Ithamar Rangel.

Frankly, this was the first time I saw DPMM played this season.br /br /So I don't have any slight idea how good they are, but having maintained the unbeaten record since the start of this season should they stocked up some foundational points in times to come.br /br /Anyway, here they were at the Toa Payoh Stadium where they beat cellar-dwellers Balestier Khalsa 1-0, thanks to a solitary strike from ex-Super Reds striker Oh Ddog Yi in the 35th minute.

June 1 sees the start of the Singapore League Cup (SLC) with the 12 members of the SLeague facing off against each other for the chance of some silverware.
Woodlands Wellington won the first edition of this trophy in 2007 while last year Gombak United collected it.
This season sees some changes with the competition beginning with a group format, replacing the knock out manner of earlier years.

Victory tonight for Woodlands Wellington could see nosebleeds all round as the Rams would reach the heady heights of 5th after four straight wins.
I tend not to write too much about Nenad Bacin's men but while attention, such as it is in Singapore, has been on the unbeaten runs of SAF and Tampines Rovers Woodlands have been quietly winning at challengers Gombak United and brushing aside Home United and Balestier Khalsa to set up tonight's clash with Geylang United and the prospect of a fourth straight win.

The defending champions SAFFC, fresh from their mid-week ACL victory, is back in town to kick start the defending of their league title with perennial minnows, Balestier Khalsa being their first opponents for the season 2009.
Credits to my hometown club that they hold the Warriors at the bay until veteran striker Aleksandar Duric broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with a well-taken shot, after chested down a long pass from the middle of the park, from outside the box.

Imaginary caption above from me on these DPMM folks.
Absolutely "suay loh" (out of luck)....
That sums up the situation at Yishun Stadium after the hosts, Super Reds, were cruelly denied all three points when young Aussie striker Bryan Soane scored with a header off a free kick in the dying seconds of the night to level the scores!

With Tangerang side Persikota surviving in the Premier League next season they have decided they will concentrate on youth to bring them success on the field.
Rather than looking to expensive imports they will scour the local football schools for talent hoping both to save costs as well as unearth young players with great promise.

So what did I tell you? It's not easy to be a sports photographer!
Factors like ground survey before the game, the lighting of the venue, etc.
And the likeliness of having players crashed onto you! Like the depicted collage which compiled the frame-by-frame shot of Balestier's Korean import Oh In Kyun being overpowered by DPMM's Sairol Sahari and Safari Wahit.

Young Lions v Balestier Khalsa 2-0 (Yang Mu, Khairul Nizam) 1,630
Two second half goals secured the three points last night for the Young Lions. They're on a bit of a roll at the moment with just two defeats in their last seven games. A run that has seen three wins and two draws.

(P.S: I wonder if some of the some young players out there agree with me the importance of staying put together, if possible.)
After his team defeated Balestier Khalsa, Young Lions' coach Terry Pathmanathan (pictured above during the "Sultan of Selangor Cup 09") was not a happy man as you thought he would be.

Thanks again to Mr Bryan Lim, whom I met at Clementi stadium just now, for telling me this friendly fixture.
The defending champions SAFFC, without those players on national duty, walked away with 3-1 win over Balestier Khalsa.
Park Tae Won marked his Warriors debut with his cross from the right that saw Ahmad Latiff opened the accounts with his header in the 35th minute.

I was late for the game anyway when the game, officiated by Abdul Malik Bashir who was recently praised by the AFC President Mohamed Bin Hamman, was delayed for 20 minutes or so due to the downpour.
It was a goal-less draw at the end of first half and when the second half resumed I decided to position myself at the back-of-the-net of Balestier's goal and saw the "soft" goal scored by Geylang's skipper Noor Ali.

(Picture on the left: with the league trophy, it's very pretty heavy, precaution required if you ever got a chance to lift it!! Many thanks to Mr Samuel Panthradil for making this picture possible in Oct 2005)
Although the ultimate target is the league championship, it's equally important as well to be the early pace-setters too.
