Just a reminder to everyone that the rain won't stop the match (unless it's CRAZY lightning
non-stop for the whole afternoon). Come on out to CommunityAmerica Ballpark rain or shine for our 2
p.m. showdown with Cuauhtemoc Blanco and the Chicago Fire. Speaking of the Fire, check out this
story from Ives regarding Head Coach Denis Hamlett and defender Bakary Soumare.
The Fire go down to their perennial nemesis, Dallas and their loss ends an unbeaten 11 game
streak, one shy of an MLS record.
Goals from Jeff Cunningham, an own goal by CJ Brown, and Kenny Cooper, gave Dallas an easy, 3-0
win over the Fire.
The second half turned scrappy with 6 yellow cards and Bakary Soumare's 79th minute
ejection.

Today's game against the Chicago Fire provides a simple equation for the Black-and-Red - win and
take over first place in the Eastern Conference. With New York-Toronto (8 p.m.) and New
England-Kansas City (8:30 p.m.) tonight, as well, the standings could look very different at the
end of the night.

After the Fire last met Western Conference leaders Chivas USA in MLS action on May 28th, Chicago
was the talk of the league. Not only had the Fire just pulled off a thrilling 3-2 come from behind
victory over Chivas - who at the time were MLS leaders - but they also extended their
season-opening unbeaten streak to 11 games.
I just posted the 2009 plus/minus data last week, and now it's time for the previous year. See that
post for an explanation of what this is all about. Only 11v11 goals and minutes are counted.
Asterisks indicate that a player played for more than one team in 2009. The team's overall 11v11
goal differential is in parenthesis.
