2009 brings us a new player in the licensed printing game. In reality, it's an old technology under
a new moniker. Sporting ID have introduced SensCilia, their own brand of what was formerly known as
Lextra. SensCilia will be what is used to make the official Premier Leauge names and numbers,
sleeve badges, club badges, and much more.
FFA Tech Director Han Berger had a chat with me last night about the new technical development plan
put out or about to be by the FFA.
First thing that struck me is that elite sports for kids is so serious these days, and I guess
Aussie football juniors are about to get a rude awakening! Maybe it's already happening in other.
WOULD YOU WEAR THIS JERSEY?
The defenders converge on Messi as he runs toward goal, but their efforts are futile. The
defenders' quick feet move to tackle the ball, but Messi's feet are quicker, and with a dozen
slight but perfectly timed touches at speed he threads cleanly through the defensive thicket until
there is only an open net before him.
If Gary Neville ever considered changing his name, I'm sure ‘Manchester United' would be
somewhere at the top of his list of choices. Not the most popular of Christian names but you just
know it would suit our club captain to a tee. It is without doubt that Neville is Mr Manchester
United and he literally has our great club coursing through his veins.
A little while back we had some issues with the Barclay's Premier League and their fleet of
high-priced lawyers and forced us to remove any UK crests from the site. Hull City were the coolest
kids in school when they happily allowed us to use their roaring tiger - hence their escape from
the dreaded [.
Or manager. Whatever.
The soon-to-be 31 year old is already looking at the next stage in his career. It's recently become
a new passion for the Englishman inspired by the greats: Jose Mourinho, Fabio Capello and Guus
Hiddink.
Lampard said: "I will take my coaching badges at some stage to be in a position where
it (management) is a big possibility for me.
In England there is a breed of fan that seeks to visit all the grounds in the top four divisions.
They're called ground-hoppers and they aspire to join the 92 Club.
Other fans collect football programmes, badges, match tickets...just do some research on eBay to
find the lengths people go to to keep their hobby going.
Dean Windass has announced his retirement as a player. The former Bradford City and Hull City
striker, 40, has decided to hang up his boots after an 18-year playing career in order to focus on
completing his Uefa coaching badges.
The American singer appeared at the ceremony in a West Ham basque, complete with the team's badges
on her chest, prompting the club to commission a special limited-edition range of underwear for
sale to fans. West Ham say they were "responding to huge demand".
Believe it or not, but Paul Scholes have received an offer from Stoke to end
his career with the Potters and then take over as team manager. Even though this sounds a bit
sensational Scholes' transfer to Stoke is far from impossible. Manchester United legend, who is
one of three Ferguson's dinosaurs, could end his playing career at Stoke if he
accepts Tony Pulis's offer to become player-coach at the club.

Jamie Carragher started preparations for his 14th season as a top flight footballer yesterday –
but respected judges believe he should soon be preparing for life as a manager.
Liverpool great and former Anfield assistant-manager Phil Thompson believes Carragher has all the
qualities needed to break into the cut-throat world of football management.
The four teams promoted from the third to the second division of Campeonato Brasileiro were
unraveled yesterday. They are Icasa, America-MG, Guaratingueta and ASA. These are the goals (some
of them) and results.
Icasa 6 2 Paysandu:
Paysandu, the traditional side from Para, was unable to beat Icasa in the hot lands of Juazeiro
do Norte.
On Tuesday night, Boro sacked Gareth Southgate: cue rejoicing on Teesside. Southgate was the
clueless manager who got us relegated for the first time in 12 years. He was the man who took us
from the Uefa Cup to the foot of the table. He was the man who sold our best players, and brought
in our worst.
A little respite before the storm I suppose. But, not really.
The U10 lads have their final regular season game before play-offs - if they win tomorrow morning
they'll be seeded 6th going into the post season.
Sunday morning at 9 is the final training session with the Thanksgiving Tournament Team, and then
at 12:00 noon is the start of the Dinamo Recruitment Session at Griffith Park - and the launch of
the Women's Team.
Stan Berezovsky and I had a load of fun designing the team badges.
The original Nike black kit had the first iteration of the Internazionale badge, and we were all
very proud. Fist bump the badge when you scored ? Well, not so much in the first season ...
Our Vandanel period had us embroidering each team kit with their unique badge - but we all felt
club cohesion, a single kit (LAPL aside) was an identity builder.

Alex Ferguson today expressed his surprise that Mark Hughes has done so well as a gaffer, when
he fully expected Bryan Robson to be the player from that generation to make it to the top in
management.
Fergie also revealed that Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are all
taking their coaching badges at the moment.
Sami Hyypia is set to bid Liverpool an emotional farewell on Sunday but not before letting it be
known that it is his dream to return to the club as coach one day.
Last week it was confirmed that the 35-year-old Finnish centre-back had chosen to extend his career
at Bayer Leverkusen after over a decade's service for the Reds.
In place of TGIF which has a well deserved rest over the close season, I have decided to produce
a new feature which details images of relevance to football in general and Arsenal in particular.
If you spot any thing that you feel that Gooners may like to be made aware of, then why not e-mail
me at ftk@arsenalinsider.
Remember my friend Sandy?
He has been by my side throughout my journey learning about football.
Yesterday he reached 70.
Bless his heart.
He is our very own office Alex Ferguson.
Anyway , we took the opportunity to tell him how much we all think of him.
Here is the first in a look into classic badges and crest designs of Canadian clubs of the past.

Dean Windass, the Dick Trickle of English soccer, has retired, leaving a hole in the hearts of
immature men (like me) everywhere who cannot help but giggle at the mere mention of his name.
There is hope for us yet though, as he is set to obtain his coaching badges and has his eye on
management.
Regular visitors may recall the frustration I have felt about Indonesian clubs lack of marketing
savvy.
When Thai Port, a club with average attendances below 5,000, can have a club shop up and running
selling a range of apparel seven days a week yet clubs here can't even flog badges there is
something wrong somewhere.
Today's StB features added Thierry Henry sadness, which I'm sure many of you will enjoy. But

There are always members of your team that you think could do a great job in coaching or management
down the road, but unless you have a crystal ball, it is hard to predict which players will follow
down that path.
"It's difficult to assess that because you don't know what ambitions the players have," said
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to Inside United, in reference to being able to predict
which of his players would end up in management.
Who's surrounded by Arsenal stars?
Previous answer: Steed Malbranque
