Playing on a Monday at 12.00 makes it difficult for the working folk ( myself included ) to watch a
great Final of Tennis. That was the case for the ROMA MASTERS 1000 Mens Final between NOVAK
DJOKOVIC & Spaniard RAFAEL NADAL as it was delayed from Sunday due to the bad weather. Rafael Nadal
wins his sixth Roma Masters 1000 Spanish Sports & Tennis got a great boost with the news that Nadal
Last night the US Women played their second and final match of the Kirin Challenge Cup. The
initial kickoff time was an inconvenient 4am Pacific, but due to impending bad weather the match
was moved up to a more reasonable midnight. Unfortunately, ESPN stuck with the initial time for the
broadcast, so Twitter was the only source for live updates.

Liverpool 0-0 Tottenham Hotspur Premier League 6th February 2012
The Premier League's enfant terrible, Luis Suarez, made a return to action last night after
serving his eight-game ban, but even the gifted Uruguayan couldn't kickstart what was a rather flat
performance from Liverpool at Anfield.
Last night on Twitter @ussoccer, we posed the question of when the last time the U.S. Men's
National Team was on Panamanian soil. Many people threw out June 8, 2005, the 3-0 win in World Cup
Qualifying. A perfectly appropriate guess - if it wasn't a trick question! We have to keep you on
your toes after all .

Only eight games were played in Serie A this weekend due to the bad rain in Naples and in Genoa in
which two games were called off due to the severity of the rain. Sadly people lost their lives in
Italy due to the bad weather. So two big games in Genoa-Inter and Napoli-Juventus were called off
and will be played at a later day.
What a fine weekend it was across Europe as a number of top notch clubs produced fantastic
results in the respective leagues. The biggest result was definitely, Real Madrid's 7-1 home win
over Osasuna.
In neighbouring Italy, champions AC Milan beat Catania 4-0 to move into 3rd place as the eagerly
awaited clash between Juventus and Napoli failed to get underway as bad weather hampered the
fixture.
A heavy cloud appears set to hover over English football during the next week or so, one with
far greater implications than a simple bout of bad weather. For all the pre-match preamble
concerning Liverpool's progress and Wayne Rooney's Euro ban, the newspaper headlines that have come
out of Saturday's contest make grim reading for everyone.
I've been thinking over and over about the last game, with the goalkeeper going off, and it's
bugging me mercilessly. When I think about it intellectually, I know the referee did the right
thing in letting it happen - it's why I didn't press into it when we talked about it post-game
(although we did talk about it).
Sunday promised to be a busy day in Major League Soccer on the East Coast, but that all changed
as weather reports showed that Hurricane Irene would be bearing down on the area just as several
MLS teams would be taking the field.
MLS has responded by postponing Sunday's marquee match-up between the New York Red Bulls and Los
Angeles Galaxy, as well as the Philadelphia Union's match against New England at PPL Park.

Well it was an early start as I had to get my eldest boy, Luke, to the ground for 0930hrs, as he
was due to meet the squad as a thank you for been a ball boy last season........So Reece, my
youngest, and I were at the ground nice and early with little going on, supposedly there was meant
to be more happening, but perhaps the rain stopped that.
On the latest edition of the MLS Talk Podcast : This Week in US Soccer, your hosts Chris Webb
and Chris Riordan bring you a view of the beautiful game from an American and sometimes regional
perspective. The opening segment is dedicated to discussion of the vast array of moves over the
last 2 weeks, with TFC naturally being the center of attention.
Time for a Monday wrap of the weekend that was in American soccer. We'll start with the Fox's
efforts to promote its Saturday afternoon broadcast of the upcoming Champions League Final. The
game will feature as part of a "split" doubleheader on Fox that includes the match at 2:00 and a
7:00 baseball telecast.
Here are the latest rankings. The separation the top three had is still there but with more losses,
even if they came on the road, it won't be for much longer.
1. Real Salt Lake - Had to figure the team was due for a letdown even though Portland is a tough
place to play.
2. New York - Took the throttle off after one goal, but it was more than enough to silence KC.
Leaving the ground.
Not even sure when this was, but I've only just got the photos off my phone. It's funny, the
world, isn't it? When the sun's out, like it is today, it seems perfectly natural, as if things are
always this way. You forget the bad weather. And when the weather's bad you forget when it's
fine.

We learned this morning that Nigerian defender Olubayo Adefemi died yesterday after losing
control of his vehicle on a motorway in Greece. Adefemi was reportedly caught in bad weather
conditions and crashed into a barrier while travelling to the airport for a flight to his home
country, where he was due to finalise wedding plans.
With the latest bout of bad weather once again hitting the fixture list up and down the country
over the weekend many unfortunate football fans from the lower leagues (and particularly north of
the border) have once again been hit by the devastating prospect of facing up to a painful and
boring weekend without being able to watch their beloved teams in action.
11Gunners Fantasy League
Regular readers of my blog will know that I have being running a league on the official Fantasy
Premier League site this season with the help of 11Gunners. At the start of the season I had hoped
to get up to 300 teams in the league, and I promised trophies for the first three teams if that was
the case.
News filters through that St Johnstone's fifth round clash with Partick Thistle has been
postponed.
If only we had a January shut-down all these call offs and bad weather in February could be so
easily avoided.
So only five games to enjoy today.
Hamilton v Dundee UnitedAn all SPL clash.
Roma will be fully rested heading into their home game against strugglers Brescia, with their game
at Bologna on Sunday called off due to bad weather conditions.
Juventus coach Luigi Del Neri goes into Wednesday's match at Palermo under pressure after last
weekend's 2-1 defeat to Udinese marked their third defeat in five games.
There's been plenty more action in European domestic cup competitions this week including the
French League Cup semi-finals, Coppa Italia, English and Scottish FA Cup replays as well as the
completion of the German Cup 3rd round following the postponement of two games in December due to
bad weather.
