I might as well start with the bad news because there is plenty of it at the moment. We are
currently tied at 18 points with Hungary for the second place in group E and while Hungary have
only one game left (and that is Finland at home), we have two to go and one of them is Finland away
and the other is the Netherlands at home.
Ricardo Montolivo and Jan Vertonghen are two players that have been linked with Arsenal over the
last couple of months, and today there is good news and bad news to report about them both.
Montolivo is out of contract in the summer with Fiorentina and just two weeks ago said, "Florence
has always been my [.
An article has caught my eye today about Fernando Torres and after reading it, I really hope that
Torres proves this idiot wrong. We all know that Torres has had problems with scoring goals for us
for one reason or another, but this bloke has taken aim at Torres and Chelsea for that matter in
his article published in The Mirror today.
Well I'm back as the designated D&G (doom and gloom) blogger of the group, to keep anyone from
getting too excited about how the transfer window ended. But there are quite a few positives to
take from the last few days, and I want to be fair and balanced. And to be even more magnanimous
than usual, I'll present 10 pieces of good news, coupled with only 5 pieces of bad news.
Stuart Pearse, England under-21 Manager had the good sense to allow Jordan Henderson return to
Liverpool ahead of the game against Israel's under-21 international, Monday evening.
Pearse's Captain put in a commanding performance in midfield against Azerbaijan, scoring a
delightful goal in the 6-0 victory.
What is Liverpool's form like in domestic games that immediately follow international breaks? To
find out, I've examined all of the club's post-international games since the 2005-06 season.
Unfortunately, the results are less than encouraging, especially when it comes to away games, which
is potentially bad news ahead of the game against Stoke City this weekend.
Good morning from a wild and windy Dublin. I think summer, such as it was, is now well and truly
gone.
There's gloomy news to start with this morning involving Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgian is set to
miss two months having undergone ankle surgery in Stockholm early this week. He picked up a knock
away to Udinese and although Arsene Wenger was hopeful he might play against United at Old Trafford
things have taken a very obvious turn for the worse.
There is yet more bad news for Arsenal today because midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has chosen to
play for Ghana instead of England. This means that if he is selected for the African Nations Cup he
will miss vital games during the new year period. Frimpong, 19, has played for England at both
Under-16 and Under-17 [.
The good news is that Italy, with a 1-0 victory, have secured qualification to the European
Championships in Poland and Ukraine next summer. The bad news it's not that bad is that the they
haven't been living up to the hype recently. Italy have been compared with Barcelona an awful lot
during Cesare Prandelli's tenure in charge of the Azzurri, but any viewers.
Bad news tonight that 20 year-old Newcastle striker Nile Ranger has been arrested on suspicion of
drunk driving. Nile Ranger arrested and then released on bail The news is in the Daily Mirror and
the report says that Ranger has been put on bail awaiting the results of a blood test, after he
was [.
Apparently Office Joe is some sort of soothsayer as he predicted D.C. United would win (although he
had the score wrong) and he somehow new that United forward Charlie Davies would return to his
early season goal scoring form, predicting Davies would have a "break out game".
The hat-trick from Davies and the much needed 3 points where obvious positives from Saturday night
in L.

So we play in Brussels against Anderlecht on thursday, our first game in the group stage of the
Europa League. A very important game ofcourse, and a chance for retribution after last years Euro
League games against the Belgians. But things don't look very good for us. We didn't get to play
one game in the Superleague, so we lack playing rythm.

Last week FC Barcelona lost winger Alexis Sanchez for eight weeks with a thigh injury suffered
in their 2-2 league draw against Real Sociedad.
Last night in Barcelona's 2-2 draw against AC Milan in Champions League play they suffered
another injury to their starting lineup.
The build up to tomorrow's game against Blackburn is as low-key as I can remember for Arsenal in
recent times.
Usually, in the immediate aftermath of a press conference, from which many Tweets are sent by
those in attendance, there are a host of stories scrambling to the top of the various news
feeds.
Paris St Germain have become the latest club to be interested in the signature of 36
year old former England captain David Beckham, which is ,a
href="http://www.attackingsoccer.com/2011/09/qpr-make-audacious-swoop-for-beckham/">bad news for
newly promoted EPL side QPR who have made it public of their interest in Beckham's signature after
his current LA Galaxy contract expires at the end of the MLS season.
Disappointing news arrives from Newcastle United's camp as the club revealed that one of their
new summer signings, Davide Santon is set to take a month rest from the playing field as the
ex-Inter Milan player will be facing a surgery to his knee.
The bad news was reported by the club's manager, Alan Pardew, who looked very worried with his
new player's condition revealing that Santon might be facing a cartilage problem.
An MRI showed good news and bad news for Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys. The good news: he has
only one broken rib (it was originally thought he had two broken ribs). The bad news: Romo has a
punctured lung.
While a punctured lung is nothing to joke about, it sounds as if the Cowboys expect Romo to play
in Week 3.

In which Chelsea break the bad news to AVB in the harshest manner possible, informing him of his
sacking via the official teamsheet for their Carling Cup tie with Fulham on Wednesday evening or
someone in the club's IT department opened last year's Microsoft Word templates by mistake.
Michael Vick fantasy football owners aren't sleeping well tonight. The top rated fantasy
quarterback coming into the 2011 fantasy football season is injured once again. Last week, Vick
suffered a concussion. In Week 3, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles broke his hand.
Though Vick returned to the field after breaking his right hand, he soon had to leave again
because the swelling and pain were just too much.

Jared and I start with the good news and the bad news around the USMNT. Just when Holden gets back,
down goes Torres. Gooch is playing well (maybe?
The clarity regarding Jack Wilshere's condition seems to be getting in the right direction as
the latest report from Arsenal's medical team revealed that the player have already concluded the
operation on his troubling ankle.
Moreover, the Gunners also informed that because of the operation, the player is confirmed to
take a rest for about four-five weeks out from the playing field, which is a bad news indeed as the
young midfielder won't play until at least late February or even more.
Bad news struck an all-around good guy today in a way that, in another situation, would have seemed
almost comical. Bolton and U.S. national team midfielder Stuart Holden is out for six months,
according to his club. The initial reports ...
