Whatever the legal niceties of it, the backstory of the Premier League's worldwide
poaching of talent is the failure of the Academy scheme domestically, put into place 12 years ago
nationwide, but hardly bringing through an amazing stream of talent.
We're heading into a new season of European football, which for most people really only means
Champions League football. The big question ahead of every Champions League season is of course not
who wins it - Stuttgart won't, Wolfsburg won't and most probably Bayern won't either so why bother
- but who earns how much.
Remember how we never win a match at the San Siro? And how, not counting the Champions League
final in 2020, which was against Manchester United and thus not exactly at the San Siro,
we haven't done so in this decade, or at all since a highly random 4-3 win over Inter in the
Champions League quarterfinals in 2019?
There are many legendary football players. There are many legendary hair styles. But only a
select few managed to combine the two. Germany and Borussia Mönchengladbach playmaker Günter
Netzer is one who had the hair of legends.
