By CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger will receive a ‘grovelling' apology from refs boss Keith
Hackett after being sent to the stands in the defeat at Manchester United, the Sun
tells us.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office">
The story runs alongside the post-match comments from AW digging out Manc enforcer Darren
Fletcher for continuously fouling in the Old Trafford clash.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Oh, the drudgery of international week. Let's get these games out the way and
look forward to the trip to Manchester City on Saturday. Club news items are few and far between as
the back pages discuss the merits or otherwise of England beating Slovenia and turning the
attention to the crucial World Cup qualifier against Croatia on Wednesday at Wembley.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Thierry Henry will be the next manager of Arsenal. How do I know? Arsene Wenger
says so.
Yes, the news reaches this morning's papers that Wenger and the Daily Telegraph reports that AW
has raised the intriguing possibility of Henry eventually following in his managerial footsteps by
arguing that Arsenal's legacy "has to go" with someone who has played a major part in the club's
history.
Morning Insiders' we have taken the best bits from todays papers. The usual suspects are there
with the Fabregas Barcelona stories.
The Sun - Barcelona eye Rob & Fab BARCELONA have admitted both Robinho AND
Cesc Fabregas are top of their January shopping list.
Asked about Barca's interest in Manchester City's Brazilian striker Robinho, Barca sporting
director Txiki Begiristain said: "He is a very interesting footballer and could play for us in the
Champions League.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Salomon Kalou anyone? The Chelsea striker is the latest transfer target to
emerge in the tabloids this morning as transfer fever spreads across redtop sports desks.
The Sun claims AW has offered £6million for the 28-year-old Ivory Coast
forward but the Kings Road Kremlinites are insisting on £8m.
by CARL ELDRIDGE April 24, 2010. A date for your diary. A date for Emmanuel Adebayor's diary.
Yes, you guessed correctly. It is the day when Manchester City and Mr Adebayor pay a visit to the
home of football.
His indefensible actions yesterday in front of the travelling Gooners in the 4-2 defeat at
Eastlands are sure to have an impact on the kind of reception the Togo tosser can expect, wouldn't
you say?
by CARL ELDRIDGE Man alive, where do we start? Every sports editor worth his salt was salivating
over the prospect of picturing our great leader in volleying action with the headline play on
'bottle' and without exception the papers carry exactly that in today's coverage of the
Arsenal.
Morning Insiders another weeks ends with a 2-1 victory for England yesterday, as you would
expect most of todays papers concentrate on the Internationals. We have managed to find a few
Arsenal related stories from todays papers. Below's a quick roundup:
News Of The World: Manchester City's Robinho and Barca striker Henry will be
the subject of further talks in the January transfer window.
by CARL ELDRIDGE The Adebayor-gate affair rumbles on this morning, insiders, as Cesc Fabregas
breaks his silence on the stamp that left him with peaking a three-inch gash on his right calf.
The Sun pictures the wound and quotes him: "I think this is a red card
here.
By CARL ELDRIDGE Brainless Liam Ridgewell must have watched re-runs of his Birmingham City
team-mate Martin Taylor's leg-breaking assault on Eduardo as preparation for his miserable side's
visit to Arsenal yesterday.
That is the only conclusion I can make after watching him cut through poor Theo Walcott in a
thuggish attempt to bully the speedster out of the game.
by CARL ELDRIDGE TABLOID reporters talk to each other. A lot. They swap stories, concoct
speculation and generally set the agenda on what we read about the Arsenal every day.
So you would think the respective reporters at the Sun and the Mail would have had a deadline
summit on what is going on with Arsene Wenger's target Felipe Melo, wouldn't you?
by CARL ELDRIDGE Ray Parlour seems to call it about right as he throws his two pennyworth into
the mega-millions mix swilling around this morning as Manu Adebayor prepares to join Manchester
City.
In this morning's Daily Star, Parlour has accused the Togo star of lacking the stomach for a
fight during his last year at Arsenal.
by CARL ELDRIDGE See, he does have a conscience. That's if you believe this morning's
Guardian. For the must-read organ of the liberal masses claims Emmanuel Adebayor
is stalling on a move to Manchester City because of how his wallet-busting wages will be thought of
by his fellow Togolese.
by CARL ELDRIDGE It's very much a double-whammy of irritating news this morning, my fellow
Wengerites. Kolo Toure is next to head for the Emirates exit, according the majority of the papers
and there is a stark warning from (indirectly) Alisher Usmanov that we are going down the pan at a
rapid rate of flushes.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Should be a stirring pre-match racket at Parkhead on Tuesday night with news
that the Undertones will be doing their thing prior to the visit of the Arsenal. Could any song
encompass AW's philosophy on youth better than the band's Teenage Kicks?
Today's tabloids carry various drivel about the off-off move of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and I
think it's sensible to ignore this baloney from now on.
Morning Insiders, Eldo's off for a well earnt rest for a week so I'll be bringing you the latest
news from the newspappers each morning starting today.
The Sun - Theo: We are really flying
THEO WALCOTT insists it was easy to slot back into Arsenal's team because they are brilliant.
Morning Insiders - Sundays news round up looks like this:
Sky Sports - AC confirm Ade interest
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed the Serie A giants are interested in signing
Emmanuel Adebayor. Read More...
Daily Star - Weng's £40M Rib Bid
ARSENAL have entered the race to land French ace Franck Ribery – for a club record
£40million.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Blimey, it is dragging on isn't it? And after an interminable wait to land
Andrei Arshavin from Zenit St Petersburg, we know only too well about waiting. But this time it's
not waiting to welcome a player in, rather than to wave him goodbye. With a two-fingered salute
probably.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger is anything but impetuous. So can someone explain why today's
papers are suggesting that the Gunners chief is ready to renew his interest in Saint-Etienne
midfielder Blaise Matuidi?
The argument is that because Cesc Fabregas has a hamstring injury, AW has realised just how
short he is of players who could be considered suitable replacements and so has put Matuidi back on
his radar.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Celtic put to the sword in emphatic style but Eduardo's dive for a penalty is the
centre of the papers' attention this morning. And when dear old AW admits it was never a pen it is
one of those days when we have to take the stick on the Crazilian's behalf as the spotlight is
moved away from what was a routine victory with some slick play to accusations of cheating.
by JAMES CURTIS It's been a topsy-turvy last couple of days for Gooners, having comfortably
sealed a place in the Champions League group stages, only to be bashed on by football's apparent
high and mighty.
This heavenly troupe, who have seized on the Eduardo dive scandal tooth and nail, are lead by
none other than Patrice "fisticuffs" Evra and The Independent's chief sports
writer James Lawton.
By CARL ELDRIDGE Ian Wright is shooting from the lip in today's Sun and,
despite never successfully managing one of the biggest clubs in the world, has decided to tell
Arsene Wenger how to do his job. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns =
"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office">
Wrighty reckons we lose matches because we get bullied on the pitch and that back in the day,
players such as PV4 and TA6 would have stood toe-to-toe with those who wanted a scrap before
earning the right to play their football.
By CARL ELDRIDGE Roll up, roll up, read all about it. This morning's papers offer a decent
smattering of Arsenal stories ranging from the club's appeal on the Eduardo divegate scandal to
Arsene Wenger being hit with an FA warning. The Sun kicks off by telling us that
the Gunners have confirmed they will appeal against Eduardo's ban for diving.
Morning insiders no footie today as the international break takes hold, still plenty to talk
about in the media this morning. We have picked some of the best bits for you to discuss below:
The Daily Mirror Arsene Wenger was RIGHT to defend Eduardo dive, says Sir Alex
Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted Arsene Wenger was RIGHT not to publicly criticise Eduardo during the
explosive Champions League diving row.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger has condemned Arsenal's travelling fans for the abuse they hurled
at Emmanuel Adebayor in the Manchester City game, screams this morning's Sun.
Accept, er, he didn't condemn them at all.
Their preposterous reporter, the Liverpool-supporting Anthony Kastrinakis (BTW, the Arsenal head
of communications is also a Liverpool fan), runs with the story despite AW stating he didn't hear
it so can't comment on it.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Well, that was a stroll in the sunshine at the Emirates yesterday if ever I saw
one. And one player strolling with great purpose was Emmanuel Eboue, who had plenty to be pleased
with after nudging a goal in the Gunners' comfortable 4-0 triumph over Wigan.
For it was against Wigan last season that Eboue, on as a sub, was himself subbed, and the
decision by Arsene Wenger was applauded and he left the field to boos.
Morning Insiders, as we edge closer to the International match on Saturday that know one will
watch we pick the best of todays news from the daily pappers.
The Sun - Ramsey talks his way to the top AARON RAMSEY is being talked all the
way to the top by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Morning all and welcome to the daily backpage news roundup...
The Sun - Wenger has a Fran plan
ARSENE WENGER is determined to fight off Atletico Madrid and Seville who are eyeing young Spanish
star Fran Merida.
The Daily Mirror - Ramsey calls for consistency
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey insists Wales must start learning to be consistent throughout a
match, rather than just in purple patches.
by CARL ELDRIDGE If ever there was a day when Arsenal news was thin on the ground, it had to
be today. And so it is this morning that you'll find only the merest hint of anything Gunnerish in
the papers. And believe me, I have looked. And looked. Had a cup of tea. Then looked again.
Then there it was.
by CARL EDLRIDGE Baffling coverage in this morning's papers devoting vaulable space to the fact
that a toilet in a run-down pit of a place in north London is being knocked down. See the story
here in the Telegraph.
Meanwhile, Andrey Arshavin gives his take on the disappointing draw at West Ham on Sunday in
this morning's papers and, unlike his leaden-footed performance seemed to demonstrate at Upton
Park, it seems he does care.
by CARL ELDRIDGE There is never a bad time to turn Liverpool and their touchy fans over and last
night proved this with a deserved 2-1 Carling Cup win for the Arsenal at the Emirates.
I say touchy because all you could hear from the plastic Scousers coming out of the ground was;
'Where's your European Cup?
by CARL ELDRIDGE Lots of purring in the papers this morning after the glorious Gunners hammered
AZ Alkmaar 4-1 with some exquisite football to take us to the brink of the last 16 in the Champions
League.
In the Sun this morning, Arsene Wenger says he has his best-ever strike force. He said: "We've
never had as many options on the creative side.
by CARL ELDRIDGE The goal-hungry Gunners are on course for a record-breaking ton of Premier
League goals.
And this merits mention in today's Press with the Daily Mirror telling us that Arsene Wenger's
men notched four more goals at Wolves to take their top-flight tally to 36 already in just 11
games.
by CARL ELDRIDGE At last! The player formerly known as Emmanuel Adebayor of The Arseanl has
departed God's Own and will be collecting £170,000 a week at Manchester City for the next five
years, the Mail on Sunday tells us. Nice work if you can get it, eh? The same
paper reports that Arsene Wenger believes Gunners' fans resentment over Adebayor's "dalliance" with
AC Milan and Barcelona last summer drove the Togo forward to join City.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office">
by CARL ELDRIDGE What a thoroughly endearing little chap that scamp Ashley Cole is, eh? Er, no.
And you just have to scan this morning's papers to realise why Cole still has a couple of millennia
before he can attempt to reconcile his differences with those of the AW faith.
Morning Insiders, can't believe it's Friday again already. As the new season moves closer to us
our latest departure Adebayor breaks his silence and starts mouthing off. In fairness he did wait 4
days!!! Find all todays latest paper talk below.
The Sun - Gunners needed the £25m far more than they needed me!
by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsenal's ambassador in Spain has come out fighting this morning with a
morale-boosting rallying call for the beleaguered Gunners.
With Manu Adebayor gone and many of the papers suggesting Kolo Toure's move to Manchester City
is also a done deal, Arselona's Thierry Henry came out fighting in defence of Arsene Wenger and
managed a thoroughly well-placed dig on Harry Redknapp's ever-twitchy chin.
by CARL ELDRIDGE Curiouser and curiouser. And very much a case of Arsene in wonderland in my
opinion. For today our esteemed leader tells the world's press that he is, indeed, considering a
move to bring the great Paddy Vieira back to his spiritual home from Inter Milan. Well, new home a
few hundred yards from Highbury anyway.
Morning Insiders plently to talk about from the newspapers this morning. As usual comment
welcome....
The Mirror - Almunia sorry to see Toure go
Arsenal goalkeeper Manuel Almunia believes defender Kolo Toure left the Gunners because he was
"bored" and fears the same could happen with captain Cesc Fabregas.
by CARL ELDRIDGE U2 star Bono is set to be at the Celtic-Arsenal game if the Champions League
play-off gets switched to August 19, the day after the band play at Hampden Park, Glasgow. But I
doubt if he'll be in the away section given his Hoops allegiance and megastar status.
