The end is near. An FA Cup Final beckons, with the promise of a hotly-contested affair against
those northerners. This one, friends, is for all the marbles. More, after the jump:
Lets do it again
As the season draws to a close, we're presented with our first genuine opportunity at claiming
silverware this year.
Samuel Eto'o has continued to hint that his long-term future lies way from the Russian league,
implying that he might end up at Chelsea in the coming years.
Eto'o was rising to prominence at Mallorca when then-Blues boss Claudio Ranieri attempted to
bring the striker to Stamford Bridge.
However, the Cameroon international opted to join Barcelona in 2004 and went on to enjoy five
great years in Catalunya before moving on to another two successful seasons at Inter.
Attention book nerds, there is a new American soccer tome on the block. It's called Soccer Made in
St. Louis and it's about the secret history of Toledo, OH's underground Polish badminton
leagues.
OK fine, it's about the obvious --St. Louis soccer-- and you should check it out.
Remember MLS Pictures? An orgy of baritoned narration and sexy slo-mo camera pans it was easily one
of the best MLS-related shows to ever grace American television. Sure, it was slightly over-the-top
& dramatic but damn was it pretty to look at. Someone should bring this back.
Remember Spartan Stadium? Remember when Lando had a hairline like that?
Not content to just do their thing in the Paul Scholes testimonial match at Old Trafford today, the
Cosmos organization is set to take part in something called the Vegas Winter Kick on Feb. 12th at
Sam Boyd Stadium. Word out of Sin City is that the promoters, Justice Entertainment, say the
opposition "will be a quality team that is recognized worldwide.
Hate 'em if you want but no one does NASL-era nostalgia like the Cosmos and I ain't mad at that.
You use what tools you've got.
I just wonder why the Earthquakes weren't milking this cow years ago. Why not flaunt George Best
scoring the illest goal of the disco era? How about some footage of Guus Hiddink running the
midfield back in the day cut with a clip of him running things from the touchline now?
Long live the legend of "the soccer truce."
I have no idea where this came from but if you can get past the first 1.5mins it's kinda fantastic:
25+ minutes of outtakes and unfiltered footage from the 2007 SuperDraft, the first MLS draft to
ever be televised.
It's as long as Marco Ethceverry's Jheri Curl mullet but kinda funny.
