When I woke up bleary-eyed and desperate of coffee this morning my first thought was "Why do I
wake up so early for the impending doom that is Arsenal?" I turned my TV on and was greeted by the
image of Arsene Wenger walking onto the pitch and a great view of the skyline above the Emirates
Stadium, leading me to think, "At least it looks beautiful out there.
Sorry, Spurs fans. You'll have to wait yet another year to attempt a league double over Arsenal,
with the Gunners putting their neigbours to the sword with a superb 5-2 fightback at the Emirates
Stadium today.
The game continued the goal-crazy trend for games between the big sides in the Premier League
this season, with Arsenal turning on the style and showing great character after going two goals
down.
Arsenal fought back from 2-0 down to win a pulsating north London derby 5-2 against Tottenham
Hotspur, while Ryan Giggs struck late on to seal victory for Manchester United at Norwich.
Arsenal are back up to fourth place on goals scored after completing a remarkable comeback to
overwhelm Spurs.
There's a bloke named Winston who arguably has the "best job in the world" if
you're an Arsenal fan. For the love of Redknapp, who the hell is Winston, you ask? He works
exclusively in Arsenal's dressing room at the Emirates stadium, sits in the empty cubicle at the
far left (unoccupied by players) on match-day and ensures that the operations run smoothly.
This January's Arsenal transfer news was relatively quiet at the Emirates Stadium, with Thierry
Henry returning to the club on loan from New York Red Bulls and German teenager Thomas Eisfeld
arriving from Borussia Dortmund for a modest fee.
However, activity has not always been this sedate at Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger making some
surprising and at times, blockbuster signings in January.

Andrey Arshavin has moved back to Zenit on loan and that means £80,000 off the wage bill.
That's if the list of wages Arsenalinsider has been sent is to be believed.
The bulging paypackets for players such as Sebastien Squillaci (£60,000-a-week) and Abou Diaby
(£50,000) are astonishing as are the huge amounts being paid to backroom staff.
Arsenal traveled north to face a Sunderland club that has seen a resurgence since installing
Martin O'Neil as their manager and it took a two late goal by impact substitutes to come away with
the three points. Keep reading for all the glorious heart-stopping action.
Arsene Wenger chose to start the same squad that demolished Blackburn last week with the
exception of Francis Coquelin as Bacary Sagna was drafted in for his 2nd start since his broken
leg.
Bacary Sagna has admitted that his Arsenal return a few days ago has coincided with an
unacceptable run of form and one that the Gunners desperately need to end if they are to avoid yet
another disappointment in this weekend's North London derby against the in-form Tottenham
Hotspur.
The Spurs emerged 2-1 winners at White Hart Lane thanks to goals from Rafael Van der Vaart and
Kyle Walker when the two teams met earlier this season but it could be more difficult for Tottenham
this time around given that they will be playing at the Emirates.
Welcome to Thursday. The North London derby takes place on Sunday and much of the focus should
now turn to that.
Of course there isn't much in the way of news because after Milan and Sunderland we've gone into
lock-down mode on the media side of things. The only snippet we got was poor old Bacary Sagna being
rolled out to do the 'We'll keep fighting, do it for the fans' line which was previously the domain
of Johan Djourou.
Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie and right-back Bacary Sagna have suggested that Sunday
afternoon's highly anticipated North London derby could make or break the remainder of their
season, with no less than a win considered acceptable.
The Gunners have done all but win in the last few days, virtually crashing out of the UEFA
Champions League and falling short in a massive FA Cup clash three days later.
Arsenal puts out a magnificent display on Sunday when they come back from a two goal down to
eventually trashed their city rival, Tottenham Hotspurs 5-2, with Theo Walcott grabbing two goals,
adding to Bacary Sagna, Robin Van Persie and Tomas Rosicky's earlier strike.
This spirited effort received praise from their manager, Arsene Wenger, who stated that his team
put out a perfect performance on the day, completely dominating the fixture despite going two goals
behind at first.
North London Is Red
The perfect response on what was a testing week leading up to this North London Derby. The
mother of all comebacks and a beating that they well and truly deserved. This was a performance of
character and desire. Forget the win at Stamford Bridge, this sets the bar on a whole completely
different level.

So, after the couple of weeks we've had we find ourselves 2-0 down at home. To them. Not a good
place to be at any time, least of all following our cup exits and so on.
The Saha goal was a bit worrying, so much space for him to run into, but the finish was pure
luck.
Arsenal 5 2 Tottenham: Premiership simply the best - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
It was another Premiership classic at The Emirates in the season that just keeps on giving. An
absorbing and enthralling contest began in ominous fashion for Arsenal as a Tottenham counter
allowed Louis Saha to expose gap in the home side's backline wider than the River Thames.
Brilliant, splendid, absolutely spiffing. I've spent very few days of late glad to be a
football-follower, but these ninety minutes just pounded home the fact that being a mindless
acolyte at the temple of The Beautiful Game pays dividends; sweet, sugary dividends that act as
momentary Novocain to all the tooth-drilling that's gone on prior.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Brad Friedel was dumbfounded when asked to reflect on his side's
humiliating 5-2 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates yesterday.
The Spurs had taken a commanding 2-0 lead through Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor (penalty) in
the first half but a revival inspired by Bacary Sagna and Robin van Persie ended with a rout that
also featured terrific finishing from the much-criticized Gunners such as Tomas Rosicky and Theo
Walcott.
Kickettes? It's going to be a fantastic week. We can just tell. Image: Clive Mason/Getty Images.
We reckon we've used up a year's worth of good fortune this morning, just on pictures of
footballers with their shirts off.
We think you'll agree, it's totally worth it, though.
