Four months into the season, and Liverpool still hasn't deployed the first-choice XI thanks to
injuries. And last week we got word that both Benayoun and Riera could be out for a month.
Awesome. Injury problems have consistently troubled Liverpool this season, but with those two missing, the
left flank is a massive concern. Click to continue reading...
The vast majority of Liverpool fans are still right behind Rafa Benitez and rightly so. There is enough instability at the club with the owners and the debts, and the last thing we need
is to be looking for a new manager. One win in nine games isn't great but you don't turn into a bad manager overnight. Click to continue reading...
Hello all. For a friday post, usually, there'd be a match preview of some sort. There are some
good international matches over the next few days.
The Irish take on the French in what I see as even a contest as it is in Rugby. Then there are
the equally intriguing Bosnia vs Portugal, Algeria vs Egypt, New Zealand vs Bahrain etc etc.
I probably filled my quota of Major League references with the one about Jobu a few weeks ago. I
apologize to international readers and those who aren't connoisseurs of marvelously cheesy sports
movies, but this is too apt. Plus, it's Major League 2. Just like weak-hitting, voodoo apostate Pedro Cerrano, right now, Liverpool has no marbles. Click to continue reading...

Liverpool are looking to ge their Premier League season back on track (again) against Birmingham
City. Will we field a strong enough team? Tonights lineup against Birmingham City at Anfield:
Reina, Johnson, Insua, Skrtel, Agger, Mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Benayoun, Riera, Ngog. Subs:
Cavalieri, Aquilani, Gerrard, Kyrgiakos, Babel, Spreaing, Darby. Click to continue reading...
Can I get an Amen? This week's winner is: The Holy Babel. I don't know if you guys have noticed this yet, but I really REALLY like name puns. And I think
there is a serious lack of clever names in the official game. Too many teams are named some form
of: FC My Town or Gunners Rule6969. Click to continue reading...
Pazza Inter.
fondamentali. Click to continue reading...
He headed down the tunnel, avoided a few picture takers, autograph hounds, his own subs wanting to
talk tactics. He signaled to them but avoided conversation, winding his way to an executive office
and finding a private bathroom. He looked in the mirror. "The fat Spanish waiter." His palms were still sweaty, so he washed them
and then washed his face. Click to continue reading...
Anonymous said: I disagree about Babel. I'd much rather see him starting for Voronin rather than coming off the
bench. Then bring in Aqua at the 70 min mark. Voronin just looks a half step slow in everything he
does. At least Babel has the potential for moments of brilliance along with the
mistakes.
Recently, it was brought to my attention that someone had posted a defence of Liverpool, and
specifically Benitez's, transfer activity. At first glance, the conclusion is clear: Total Players Bought:
£228,976,000 Total Players Sold:
£145,100,000
Total Net Spend: £83,876,000So, that's a
total spend of just over £83m in 5 years at the club.Click to continue reading...
Liverpool drew 1-1 with Lyon last night, leaving any chance of getting through the group stages of
the Champion's League hanging by a thread' but what do you think went wrong last night? There are a
number of possible reasons: Rafa's tactics/his woeful decision to play Voronin/the lack of
introduction of Aquilani/bringing on Babel too late, [. Click to continue reading...
Yet again Europe's top talent provided us with some magnificent goals. Argentine striker Aguero
may have found his form with two howitzers against Chelsea.

Liverpool face Lyon in the Champion's League tonight, but given the fact that Rafa has an injury

Its got to be Liverpool's worst run in years.Five defeats in the League already, beaten twice in
the Champion's League and we will be going out unless we win our last three group matches, plus out
of the Carling Cup alreadyIt is Rafa Benitez's poorest spell in charge of Liverpool since he joined
us five years ago. Click to continue reading...
Sorry its late this time. The Starting lineup from Liverpool's shocking game against Fulham. Reina,

After today's bizarre defeat to Fulham which defies description, I have to take a look at the
Liverpool's injury list to explain things away. We were missing Danny Agger, Martin Skrtel, Alberto Aquilani and David Ngog to a virus, not the
swine-flu, but a virus nonetheless. We were also missing Captain Steven Gerrard to a groin injury, Glen Johnson to a calf injury and
Fernando Torres wasn't fully fit. Click to continue reading...
Liverpool lost 3-1 at Craven Cottage to Fulham today as Carragher and Degen were both sent off.
Rafa went for a 442 with Voronin joining Torres upfront; while inexperienced was a word to describe
the bench of Gulacsi, Dossena, Ayala, Spearing, Plessis, Eccleston and Babel. Liverpool dominated
the opening play, but went a goal behind when Zamora [. Click to continue reading...
Maddy's Note: Our man Felipe is back, bringing you a great take on thhe
Carling Cup encounter which he was THERE for. Who would expect a team of kids to beat a very
experienced and solid Liverpool? One one would say Arsenal were favourites, but I just have to
confess I didn't think that way until the kick-off yesterday. Click to continue reading...
Arsenal 2 (Merida 19, Bendtner 50) Liverpool 1 (Insua 26) (Carling Cup)
A mix of experience and youth was enough to see off the challenge of Liverpool in an
entertaining game, made all the more fun by the visitor's admirable attacking intent. In the end,
we sneaked home in one of the most enjoyable games I've seen all season.
kuyt, voronin, babel cost us the game. why? notone of them were good enough it shows what i have
been saying about kuyt, without sg and torres he is shown for what he is. a workhorse with a poor
first touch, and a player who needs 5 chances to score one. voronin was so poor [...] Click to continue reading...
Another fun night of Carling Cup action at the Grove saw Arsenal go through to the
quarter-finals with a 2-1 win over Liverpool.
As expected the team was a mix of youth and experience. Nicklas Bendtner, Eduardo and Samir
Nasri got minutes under their belt to get themselves fit, at the back Senderos and Sylvester
provided a solid foundation while Lukasz Fabianski returned in goal.
Hello Gooners. Well that was close as well, just like the previous two games. Where was the 3-1
I predicted? As it turns out we didn't need that third goal.
You won't agree but for me Liverpool probably shaded it by virtue of the opportunities they
created.
The journey continues for Wenger and Arsenal as they knock Liverpool out in the fourth round
Carling Cup clash at Ashburton Grove. As it often is with the second cup competition in England,
Wenger put his faith in the lesser lights of his squad. Silvestre took the armband with Senderos as
his centerback partner in front of the returning Fabianski.
Cavalieri Degen Skrtel Kyrgiakos Insua Spearing Plessis Kuyt Voronin Babel Ngog Goals: Merida 19' Insua 26' Bendtner 50' Any loss is disappointing, especially when the team's already lost six, but this one doesn't sting
too bad. Arsenal, with Nasri, Bendtner, and Eduardo in the line-up, didn't exactly play the Super
Teens, and probably deserved their victory. Click to continue reading...
