World Cup Golden Ball winner Diego Forlan (Uruguay) jetted off with his girlfriend, Zaira Nara for
their hols in Miami on Saturday. Since Diego is the Patron Saint of Abs expect some of this, a
little bit of that, and lots of this. Image via twitter.com/diegoforlan7
It seems Diego Forlan, much like the rest of us, seems to have taken inspiration from Iker
Casillas and Sara Carbonero's post-World Cup smootch.
While Manchester City aren't the New York Yankees of football, they certainly get paid like the
best in the world. Before their preseason friendly against Sporting Lisbon at the Red Bull Arena,
the lads living in luxury took a trip down to the lower east side of Manhattan to play with the
locals.
In November, ESPN.com's Bill Simmons - affectionately known as the "Sports Guy" - published
The Book of Basketball with one goal in mind: to answer every question that could ever be
posed about the NBA. One of those questions deals with what Simmons calls "The Secret." Simmons
learns of the "secret" on the deck of a Vegas topless pool, where he and Isaiah Thomas (the Hall of
Fame point guard and former GM who was a longtime object of barbs in Simmons's columns) are hashing
out their differences.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and I think Brett Favre may have learned that
lesson earlier this week (drum roll please). But he wasn't the only athlete pictured this week
allegedly performing a naughty act. Take a look at newly signed New York Red Bulls forward Thierry
Henry checking out the goods of Eva Longoria AKA Mrs.
I said in my match preview that I fancied that this game would end as a draw. but I could never
have imagined that it would have left such a bitter taste in my mouth.
We went into this game knowing that we really needed a win and came agonosingly close, as
Liverpool, Manchester City and Villa all picked up three points.
All of you loyal readers of this wonderful website have heard the fantastic news of professional
soccer being saved in the Twin Cities with the creation of NSC Minnesota in the newly-formed USSF
Division 2 soccer league. With a new team comes an ever expanding list of necessities in order to
field a team come opening day.
Before we get started a quiz question: Who was the last English manager to win a domestic
top division league title anywhere in the world, and where? Answer later.
As football supporters in England, we all have our own favourite moment of Steve
McClaren awkwardness.
"It was inevitable. I ultimately had to do what was best for me. I'm not necessarily out
there trying to please each and every person. That's my decision and I'm really happy about
it."
That's Kansas City's Teal Bunbury on his decision to play for the USA instead
of Canada.
...y'know, I'm starting to lean towards Chicharito ahead of Landon for CONCACAF Player of the Year.
Does that make me a bad person? Or does the fact that I'm giving out fake awards make me a bad
person?
Oh, wait, I know what makes me a bad person. See that blog post title? I could have used this story
as a poetic extended metaphor about MLS has grown from childhood through the awkwardness of
puberty, and is now standing at the cusp of adulthood.
Pitch Pass is a work in progress. How could it not be after just a handful of episodes. I'm
still trying to get my feet under me as a sports interviewer. But it's also an adjustment for the
players. This episode is a prime example of that.
I know what I want this show to be: casual, fun conversations with the people in MLS who
matter.
