Away supporters' guides
As Newcastle United's next Europa League opponents are the Portuguese footballing aristocrats of Benfica, I have been inspired to write a two part guide to the club. In this first part, I will taking a brief look at the history of the club, as well as tking a look at the links between Benfica, Newcastle [.
With the news that Newcastle United will be facing Metalist Kharkiv over two legs in the the next round of our Europa League campaign, I thought it might be a good idea to probe this side from the north east of Ukraine. Going on what Alan Pardew said when he was interviewed about the draw, [...]
Pre season guide part one Fenerbahçe S.K. v Newcastle United. Date: Saturday, 21st July. Venue:
Káposztás Utcai Stadion, Sopron, Hungary. Kick off: 7pm local time / 6pm UK time Tickets TBC. UK
TV: Live on ESPN UK. This one sees the Magpies making another step up as they take on last years

It's here again already! Newcastle United's series of pre season fixtures starts this evening in
Chemnitz, as the Magpies kick off their European tour, playing six games (if you count one against
the Dutch Den Haag which is yet to be officially confirmed). Two of the games will be played in
Germany, one in Hungary [.
Some of my best days supporting Newcastle have come away from St James' Park. I don't mean that as
a criticism of our home ground as, quite simply, it isn't. Being at a match at St James' Park can
be a unique experience which is unrivalled so far on my travels, but being the adventurous type,
[...]
Newcastle United head north of the border for their final pre-season game on Saturday, and will be
taking at least 3,850 fans with them. That is the official allocation of tickets given to
Newcastle, and all of them have been sold. Fans will be located in the Broomloan Road stand upper
and lower tiers.
Newcastle United head down south to London on Sunday where they will be hoping to sign off the
season in capital fashion by taking all three points at Loftus Road. It has been brought to my
attention that some fans are travelling without tickets and are just hoping to catch the party
atmosphere, whilst others will [.
This guide takes a look at Newcastle United's next away game at Reading's Madejski Stadium,
originally scheduled for Saturday 9th January with a kick-off of 3pm but unfortunately had to be
cancelled due to frozen conditions around the ground. You'll be forgiven for thinking that the game
was to be held in some Arctic tundra [.
With only four away games remaining in what now appears certain to be a whistle-stop tour of
Championship grounds, the Toon Army roll into Peterborough for top versus bottom clash. Promotion
could be a very real possibilty on Saturday as Newcastle look to seal the deal at the very earliest
opportunity.
A quick turn around from Saturday see's Newcastle United travel to Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday
evening in yet another crucial Championship clash. The town of Doncaster has featured pretty
heavily in two of Newcastle's most successful era's. Former player and manager, Kevin Keegan was
born in Doncaster and Joe Harvey was born on the outskirts [.
The next destination for what looks like a whistle-stop tour of the Championship takes Newcastle to
the city of Bristol for the Saturday evening encounter with Bristol City at Ashton Gate. A kick off
of 5:20pm should keep fans without tickets, or those who choose not to do the 600 mile round trip
happy as [.
Not much of a guide is needed for the 40 mile trip straight down the A19 to Middlesbrough's
Riverside Stadium. Viewed by us as the poor relation of the Tyne/Wear derby, it doesn't mean that
the Tyne/Tees derby should be taken any more lightly this time around as we go in search of 3
points [...]
Our next on the road encounter takes us to Vicarage Road and a clash with Watford. Vicarage Road is
expected to be close to a sell out for this match as fans flock to see the possibilty of their team
taking the scalp of the famous Newcastle United. It's been about 5 years since I was [...]
Next up on the road for The Toon is a potentially tricky trip to Swansea for our Saturday lunchtime
match against The Swans. Newcastle will undoubtedly be wanting to bounce back after Tuesdays 3-0
defeat at Derby County, and what better way to do it than winning away at a promotion chasing team
in front [.
Next up on the road for The Toon is a trip to the East Midlands. More specifically, Derby County
and their ground, Pride Park. A full house will surely be guaranteed as The Rams have the 2nd
highest average attendance, 2nd highest only to us, and that's despite the fact their team has been
struggling [.
On the back off a scrappy yet ultimately effective 2-0 win against crisis club, Crystal Palace, The
Toon turn their attention to the Walker's Stadium and a Saturday evening clash with Leicester City.
It's another local one for me as I live about 25 miles from Leicester, and work even closer! The
game is shown live [.
My next guide takes a look at this weeks FA Cup 4th round match against West Brom at The Hawthorns.
We've kindly been given the entire Smethwick Road end which has an allocation of 5,500, and with
tickets cheap at £20 for adults and just £5 for under-16's, I'd expect us to fill that! Mind
[...]
This guide takes a look at Newcastle United's next away game at Reading's Madejski Stadium,
scheduled for Saturday 9th January with a kick-off of 3pm. Again its quite a long trip from the
Toon, but I'm sure that wont put the dedicated Toon Army off or stop some of our more local fans
from making [...
Away I go with my next Toon fan's away guide, which will feature the long, long, long trip, all the
way to the south coast resort of Plymouth for our FA Cup 3rd round tie against Plymouth Argyle at
Home Park. You may even bump into Big Dave and Janner from that TV advert! With the [...]
Following on in my series of away guide for Newcastle United fans, my third attempt focuses on our
Boxing day trip to the steel city, and a visit to Hillsborough the home of Sheffield Wednesday.
Traditionally, Boxing day fixtures are someting that I've turned my nose up at travelling many many
miles with [.
So, here we are with my next instalment of Newcastle United away fan's guides. This features our
game at Oakwell, Barnsley on Saturday 12th December and is scheduled for a 3pm kick off, which has
been unusual for us away from home! At around 115 miles from Newcastle, Barnsley is not a bad jolly
away for [.
You may have read about an idea I came up with about travelling for our away games, and if you
haven't, we'll you have now. Im hoping to make this a regular feature, detailing various elements
of travel for Newcastle United away supporters. To aid with this i shall be calling on my
experience of [..
