Bolton Wanderers fail to impress their travelling fans.

It's finally arrived, everyone. The day we've all been slogging through summer for. The start of a dreamy ten-month long season of bliss. The Arsenal are playing again. *add triumphant horn music when technology allows*

The game kicks off tomorrow, Saturday the 13th, at 5:30pm UK time, 12:30pm Eastern, 9:30am Pacific.

No, but seriously folks:

It's late, so I can't write much, but here are a few thoughts after watching us relinquish yet another lead in a pre-season friendly, as we went up 1-0 on a nicely worked goal by RvP then conceded two after the break and couldn't get one back.

1) It was a pre-season friendly.

Uh huh, you know what it is. The Trotters are back in black for the first time since the Anelka days. A photo of our away shirt leaked ages ago but this morning, we have got a photo of Gretar Steinsson wearing the full kit and in my opinion... It's fantastic.
As you can see, the kit is all black save for yellow badges, yellow Reebok logos, a white 188Bet sponsor logo, and some yellow accents.

On Saturday night the Union suffered its second disturbing result in a row with a 1-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps at Empire Field. This loss follows on the heels of a disappointing 1-1 tie at home to Real Salt Lake.

I have to say my reaction when I saw the lineup graphic on Saturday night was "Oh – My – God.

We're a little behind the times here at the Arsenal Offside, as we navigate the choppy transitional waters from The Martin/Sairax era to The Largely Unknown Jackasses era.

But finally, nine days after the fact, we have a post about the new Arsenal kit/shirts/jerseys/unis/whatever you prefer to call them.

Since our last scheduled programming, the Philadelphia Union have managed to score more than one goal in a game and to do so in two consecutive games. The Union defeated the Chicago Fire on May 22 at PPL Park by a score of 2-1. Michael Farfan scored his first professional goal, and Carlos Ruiz supplied the game winner a spectacular, long shot off a bouncing ball that just tucked in under the crossbar.

Clichés are grating enough, but even more so when your team is embodying one. It is often said that the hardest thing in soccer is to score a goal. Philadelphia Union fans got another painful reminder of that in Saturday night's game against F.C. Dallas. On top of the ongoing offensive struggles, the Union conceded two goals for the first time this year.

My fellow bloggers over at http://unholyunion.wordpress.com recently posted some interesting information about a closed Septa train station at Lamokin, about a fifteen minute walk from PPL Park.

It found it interesting in that it was posted on the same day that I had my own first experience, albeit indirectly, with public transportation to PPL Park.

Five games without a win, only 4 points from the first 6 games. Not the type of start to the season that most fans were expecting heading into this season. Yes, most people thought that KC would struggle to pick up points at time, but I think the first half of the road trip is where fans saw the team picking up the majority of their points on this 10 game road trip.
