Andreas Iniesta couldn't have had a better year and after helping Spain

could end on an individual high as he is nominated along with Barcelona team-mates Xavi and Messi
for World Player of the Year.
Lionel Messi has had a wonderful season but his chances of retaining his
World Player of the Year Title may beyond him after his World Cup Campaign end
prematurely in the Summer none the less he has been short-listed for the prize again this year with
team-mates Xavi and Iniesta.
After having the long list leaked and the short list announced, the final list of nominees for
CAF's 2010 African Footballer of the Year have finally been announced.
And the nominations for Africa's 2010 Footballer of the Year go to...

If you read my earlier post on the nominations, you probably aren't surprised by the names
appearing on the final list.
Spanish National Football Team International & Goalkeeper IKER CASILLAS was today awarded the
"Golden Glove Award" as the "Best Goalkeeper in the World" after his impressive & decisive 2010
World Cup performance. At the same ceremony Uruguayian International Forward DIEGO FORLAN received
his "Best Player of the World Cup 2010 Tournament" & German International THOMAS MULLER received
his "Golden
Congrats to Abby Wambach for winning the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year for the 4th
time. Only #9 (that's Mia Hamm for the uninitiated) won it more times (5 straight, 1994-98).
Wambach, who came back from a major injury to receive the personal accolade, helped the Women's
National Team qualify for the next FIFA World Cup.
Look how they're all studiously avoiding a glimpse of his hair! It's not just us, y'know...
Outside of the UK, it's a little known fact that British people are prohibited from commencing
their celebration of the festive period until the winner of the BBC Sports Personality of the Year
has been announced.
Spanish Sports has had an incredible 2010 & now the individual Spanish Sportsman involved in the
various disciplines are being recognized for their efforts. French media network "L´Equipe" ( web,
magazine & TV ) has named 24 year old Spanish Tennis player RAFAEL NADAL "Champion of Champions" -
"Best Sportsman of the Year" - for 2010.
