Few weeks to go and the awards races are as hot as the playoff race itself. Last week's discussion
brought a lot of talk and this week should be no different. As always feel free to post you
thoughts on the awards and who you think should and will win. - Coach of the Year - Preki, Chivas

Another month down in the league and its hard to believe it but we are in the final month of the
season already. But before we move on to the last few games, its time to take a look at who shined
in the previous month. Yep, time for those wonderful monthly awards. This will [...]
My player of the month was Sami Hyppiä. I'm so glad I disabled comments because I can only imagine
the garbage spewing from the mouths of those who have their own opinion. If you are one of those
who know better, than I have a suggestion, start your own blog. Anyhow, here's the rest of the
awards.
This is the start of what I hope to be a slight break down of how I will vote in the post season
awards that are coming up in the league. I still begin with the biggie, the league MVP. I will try
to give my top 5 or 6 if I can and reason [...]
I thought there was universal agreement this week that Kaka deserved his Ballon d'Or and that all
was right in the world of football. But then along came Diego Maradona, who was and is never afraid
to be different, claiming that "Rooney, Ronaldinho and Messi would have been the worthy winners."
His most interesting quote [.
Alright, part three of my voting for the MLS's seasonal awards, this time around it is the Rookie
of the Year award. In all honesty this is probably one of the easiest awards to vote on this
season. There have only been a few rookies that have been standouts while most rookies either saw
limited [...]
Last part in the six part voting series for the MLS awards now takes us to the Coach of the Year
voting. In all honesty there are about three or four candidates for this and I would be a fool to
think that even coaches that I really like (Steve Morrow, Jason Kries) will have [...]
Yes, Footie Girl and I are doing it again. Yes, we realize that the Premiership is already pretty
much back in season, with friendlies and summer tours and meaningless cup competitions. But like
everyone always says, the season's not over till Argentina choke in a major way, so here we are.
Some of the categories have changed since the last time -- different season and all that.
I was reminded by Joyce over at Youth Sports, that the US Youth Soccer Association is collecting
nominations for Responsible Coach awards: which recognize youth soccer coaches who demonstrate the
characteristics of a Responsible Coach and are important youth mentors and community leaders. I had
gotten this via email a while back and forgot to [.
Part two of my award voting goes into the newest of MLS awards, the MLS Newcomer Award. This award
may be either the easiest to predict and vote or the toughest because it falls alot in line with
the league's MVP award. I am kind of hoping that people vote differently for this award than what
[...]
Part five of my MLS awards voting takes me to the one award that I probably spend more time looking
at and deciding about. As a former defender I am a little more picky about who I think is the best
and all. Plenty of decent candidates out there to pick from but one caught [...]
The MLS announced today that Chivas USA goalkeeper Brad Guzan is MLS goalkeeper of the year. MLS
announced the award this morning. The league also named New England defender Michael Parkhurst as
the winner of the Fair Play Award (Columbus won the team award). Probably the two easiest awards to
give out in most people's eyes. [...]
July was the shortest month on the MLS calendar so far as in terms of number of league matches.
Lots of international friendlies and tournaments to talk about though for MLS Clubs and the arrival
of some Brit that everyone seems to want to take a photo of...and no I am not talking about Danny
[...]
Kinda a delay in my start today but I got a lot to cover so stick with me. I will kick off the day
with the monthly awards here at WVHooligan. August has been another solid month of action in the
league. WVH Player of the Month: Troy Perkins, Keeper, DC United - I kinda hate [...]
I love it when I recieve emails with limited information. I got one earlier with just the rookie of
the year finalists, and then 20 minutes later the rest of the awards. Weird how things work out but
nonetheless, the MLS has announced the finalists for each of their seasonal awards. MVP- Juan Pablo
Angel, Luciano [...]
It came so slowly and passed so quickly. I watched at least a part of every game and most of most
of the games. It was great. So now I begin my weekly power rankings based on what I saw and read. I
will try and let the rankings reflect only what happens on the field throughout the weeks excluding
non-MLS regular season results and anything that happened in the preseason.
At last we've reached the final waypoint on our journey through the 2007 regular season. Here we
pause as five sides wave goodbye to the departing ship of their MLS Cup dreams. Goodbye Landon,
ciao Becks, au revoir Pablo--enjoy the long night of your vacations and try not to be too bitter
that you couldn't qualify for a playoff structure that allows more than half of the clubs (62%) to
make
October was a month to forget record-wise. We played a half-dozen matches, winning a pair
(@Everton, Cardiff City), drawing a pair (Tottenham, Arsenal), and amazingly losing both our
Champions League ties (Marseilles, @Beşiktaş). Injuries devastated us with no less than 8
regulars missing matches and causing others to have to play when they would be rested otherwise.
