Congratulations to Cristiano Ronaldo for winning the 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year award.
While Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't my choice for the award, its easy to see why he won but the beef I
have with this award has to do with the choices for the shortlist of candidates. If this is
supposed to [.
** Liverpool travel to Craven Cottage, looking to continue/revive their great
run of form and stay withing striking distance of United at the top.
** The Ugly Dutchman and Steven Gerrard have agreed to new deals, keeping both
at Anfield (or that new stadium that started in May of 2007) until 2013.
Arsenal's high scoring striker Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor became the 1st Togolese player to win the
Confederation of African Football Player Of the Year. In an awards ceremony in Lagos,
Nigeria, Adebayor beat out Egypt & Al-Ahly midfielder Mohamed Aboutrika and Ghana & Chelsea
midfielder Michael Essien for the honor.
Like every season, the 2008/2009 season would be a very tight race for the honor or dishonor of
being named 2009 LLTO La Liga Dirtiest Player. Many young defenders tackled and taunted their
way to the top of the cards list, but for most their strong effort would come up a little bit
short.

Well their is the lucky clubs and the unlucky ones too. Unfortunately, sometimes the gap is so
small between these clubs that it is hard to say where exactly it all went wrong. They say
football is a game of inches, but sometimes it much more precise then that. These were the teams
that let it slip in between their fingers.
Not many surprises here.

Though Saturday's playoff exit still stings, tonight the team, front office and fans will gather
to reflect on the positives from 2009 season at the 6th Annual United Awards Reception. The yearly
event takes place at the Atlas Performing Arts Center (1333 H St. NE) and a great evening of mixing
and mingling is in store.
Yeah I'm almost a week behind on this, but was thinking the team may actually announce more winners
than just MVP, Golden Boot and Humanitarian of the Year. Anyways, this year, the award winners
consisted of 2 players, Josh Wolff and Jimmy Conrad.
Wolff won both the MVP award and the Golden Boot.
The 2009 MLS season was full of surprises. Many Best XI mainstays fell by the wayside as new
blood infused the league with excitement. But who was the absolute best player at each position in
MLS in 2009? That's a good question, and one I probably shouldn't have an "expert" opinion on.
With the unbelievable offensive production this season, it was hard to choose a single player
that stood out to such a degree that they are deemed worthy of the 2009 LLTO Most Improved Player
of the Primera Division. This year it would be joint award winners and the two men that are
taking home the hardware are Samuel Eto'o and Thierry Henry of Barcelona.
Major League Soccer will be announcing the 2009 award winners over three weeks in November. The
League announced the schedule and the three finalists in each category on Monday. Jeff Cunningham,
Landon Donovan, and Shalrie Joseph are in the running for the Most Valuable Player award, with the
announcement set for Thursday, November 20th.
Turkey Day is finally here, and with it comes STO's (First) Annual Turducken Awards. What is a
Turducken, you ask? Well, it is a turkey that is stuffed with a duck, which is stuffed with a
chicken. John Madden popularized the term by constantly referring to the dish while on the air.
