FC Nürnberg midfielder Marek Mintal responds to reports that the Union are interested in him on
this German website, "I know of the interest.

Even in a stadium filled with 35,000 people, Avram Grant must have felt like the loneliest man
in the world last Saturday. Watching his team getting ripped apart by Arsenal, his head must have
been a whirl with rumours of his impending departure from Upton Park.
Who will be the new Chelsea boss? 1. Guus Hiddink Roman didn't want to lose him the first time
around after a successful stint at the club. The Dutchman lost just one game during his temporary
stint at Stamford Bridge. 2. Marco Van Basten Another Dutchman who has been repeatedly linked with
the Chelsea job [.
The Chelsea coaching turnstiles have churned once more.
The Blues have become somewhat notorious in recent years due to the high turnover rate at the
managerial position. Since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003, there have been
seven different Chelsea managers. That's seven managers in eight years, or a new manager
every 1.
A class apart... 1. However ugly the journey, and however mishandled the situation, the end result
is correct. Grant's time has come. By the time you are reading this he will probably already have
gone. Grant's winning percentage in the Premier League since leaving Chelsea is just 19%. It's just
not good enough.
Seriously, does anyone even have the slightest sliver of an inkling?
Roughly six hours before the first-string were about to kick-off against Arsenal, word broke
from somewhere inside the West Ham camp via the BBC's diligent Sport team that former
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill was duly waiting in the wings to take over from
beleaguered incumbent Avram Grant at the Upton Park helm completely regardless of
the result against the Gunners.
Another National Team tournament, another confusing set of roster decisions from Bob
Bradley.
Here is a look at six moves that could have been made to add depth and quality to the US team.
Bradley's lineup features a number of his classic favorites who are either completely off of pace
in their domestic leagues or serve no foreseeable purpose with this team.
West Ham go Route One back to Premier League - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Messrs. Gold and Sullivan have stumbled from bad decision to ludicrous decision since taking
over at West Ham but they may well have struck gold with the appointment of Big Sam. The quickest
form of transport is through the sky and that's why Allardyce's long ball football could provide
the Hammers with an instant return to the topflight.
After Chelsea sacked manager Carlo Ancelotti for failing to bring the Champions League back to
London, new gaffer Andre Villas-Boas has a huge task on his hands before he even starts his new
job.
He needs to find a successful approach in Europe in order to satisfy Blues owner Roman
Abramovich, who craves European domination.
After joining the likes of Serie A and La Liga, putting our feet up in front
of the telly and enjoying the mid-winter break, Footy Factor is back and looking forward
to another scintillating year of footy. Up next, who will be the first Premiership manager
in the New Year to get the chop?

Number one, bitches
The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), which sounds like a
tremendously fun place to work, has voted Arsene Wenger the No.1 football coach of the last decade.
Wenger > Fergie, Mourinho, Allardyce, Megson, Brown et al.
LONDON, England At the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal kept the pressure on United with a comfortable win
against Wolves. Van Persie put Arsene Wenger's team ahead in the 16th minute with an emphatic
volley from a Cesc Fabregas cross. Wolves had ended United's 29-match unbeaten run last week, but
they are back at the bottom [.
Aston Villa and West Ham United are leading the chase to buy Liverpool midfielder Joe Cole.
The 29-year-old moved to Anfield on a free transfer last summer but has struggled to adapt to life
on Merseyside.
He has suffered injuries and a drop in form meaning he has not established himself in the starting
line-up.
Avram Grant remains confident his West Ham side can survive, but it is starting to feel a
distant dream for the fans. Currently bottom of the table with four games left, West Ham surely
have to get something from a tough game against Manchester City Sunday. Whether they get a result
or not though, it does look as the race for survival is going down to the last game of the season,
and it may even be goal difference which sees a team relegated to the Championship division.
Special 1 TV is back for their final episode of the 2010-11 season. And they've packed it with
plenty of jokes at the expense of Arsene Wenger, Wayne Rooney, Avram Grant, Ian Holloway and plenty
of other Premier League stars. But the biggest news of...

David Gold has insisted no stone will be left unturned as West Ham strive to
ensure they appoint the right manager as
Avram Grant's successor. Gold and

David Sullivan are looking to bring in a replacement as quickly as
possible so that the new man has time to start preparing for next season.
What do Martin O'Neill, Alan Curbishley, Avram Grant, Roberto Di Matteo and Steve McClaren have in

case, their names are bandied about with several...

Jaime Carragher has had a "pop" about Chelsea and our appointment of AVB ahead of up and coming
British managers. When asked about foreign managers here he said:
"Benitez, Houllier, Mourinho – they've all got things about them in terms of having
won the big trophies. Does that mean English managers don't get a chance at the Premier
League?
If you haven't seen this yet then you're in for a serious treat. This guy is brilliant.
I think we all agree that the Chelsea job isn't exactly a bed of roses based on the levels of
expectation put on you as manager. You would imagine that only the most confident, determined and
focused managers would even entertain the idea of taking the hot seat here and a task of taking the
club out of the shadows of the Jose Mourinho era at the club.
Pressure mounting on Villas-Boas at Chelsea - SI.com.
When Chelsea selected ex-Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas to be their new leader last summer,
many fans were scratching their heads to figure out who he was, and why he was chosen, but people
in the game however, had no reservations about his ability to lead the London club back to it's
trophy winning ways, as he had led Porto to a treble winning season in 2011 with Portuguese
League, Cup and Europa League triumphs.
"I don't agree [that I need help.] I don't solve problems on my own; I solve problems with my
group of people and my group of players.
Says Andre Villas-Boas, who apparently is already under pressure in his role as Chelsea
manager.
True, they face a fight to stay in the Champions League and the premier league odds have drifted to
14/1, but it is still a ludicrous suggestion, but one that is symptomatic of the Abramovich era at
Stamford Bridge.
So much promise....
At some point you just have to feel sorry for a coach.... regardless of team affiliation. The
execution time is quickly approaching with bated breath and grim reaper fingerprints. This is the
time where Roman Abramovich gets itchy on the trigger finger, picks up a cell phone from Moscow and
calls the front office of Chelsea Football Club to let them know that Chelsea will no longer be
requiring the service of Andre Villas-Boas.
Thank your lucky scarves Avram Grant has revealed the secret behind West Ham's stunning turnaround

side's unlikely 4-0 Carling Cup triumph over Manchester United. He foolishly ditched the scarf for
the defeats to Sunderland and Manchester City, [.
Ireland striker Shane Long has pledged his immediate future to Reading after another match
winning performance by the in-form .
Long took his tally to six goals in his last five games with a brace in the 2-1 win over Burnley
last weekend.
The Tipperary born Irish international assured Royals fans that he has no plans to leave during the
January transfer window, despite strong rumours that West Ham boss Avram Grant is keen on bringing
Long to Upton Park to help secure the Hammers Premiership position.
After yesterday's Premier League results it would take a lucky man or a fool to bet on the next
Premier League manager to lose his job. Avram Grant, Carlo Ancelotti and Roy Hodgson's days are
surely numbered after Blackburn Rovers thrashed Liverpool 3-1, West Ham was humiliated by Newcastle
United 5-0 and Chelsea were embarrassed [.
Didier Deschamps has ruled himself out of the running to succeed Roy Hodgson as the under-fire
Liverpool manager clings on to his job by his fingernails.
Hodgson spent four hours at the training ground yesterday in the wake of a damaging 3-1 defeat by
Blackburn as the owners, the Fenway Sports Group, deliberated over his position ahead of Sunday's
FA Cup tie at Manchester United.

Senior West Coast Beer and Aston Villa Correspondent2011 football was not supposed to start out this way. A new coach should have brought a fresh
approach. We were meant to be climbing into the Champions League spots, not sliding into the
relegation zone. Instead, our top players aren't performing, there are training ground bust ups,
and people are placing bets on when the manager packs his bags.
Manchester United vs Liverpool FC Old Trafford, Manchester- January 2011 Kenny Dalglish did not
enjoy a successful start to his second stint as Liverpool manager but there were several positives

In the sporting world a W usually indicates a win, a victory. In this article it is the basis of
those teams hovering around the relegation trapdoor in the Premier League: West Ham United, Wigan
Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion. Aside from a very lacklustre Aston
Villa these are the teams staring the drop in the face.
There may have been am element of luck involved but Carlton Cole's 78th minute winner must have
given manager Avram Grant some much needed breathing space as rumours continue to circulate
concerning the future of the Israeli and his job as West Ham manager. A hard working display from
The Hammers who played out the last 30 minutes with ten men after Victor Obinna red card saw them
pick up a 2-1 victory over another team flirting with relegation, Birmingham City, whilst giving
them the advantage going into the second leg of The Carling Cup and a potential trip to Wembley on
February 27th.

Avram Grant was in fighting mood for once after West Ham's slightly jammy win against Birmingham
in the first leg of their Carling Cup semi-final. Speculation that Grant is not long for Upton Park
is still rife, prompting Grant to counter: "We're one point from Wigan, Fulham and other teams but
with them everything is quiet.
West Ham manager Avram Grant has finally had enough of Karen Brady and the constant speculation
about his job. After seeing his side beat Birmingham, a win that put the Hammers 90 minutes from
Wembley and a place in Europe next season Grant said:
"We're one point from Wigan, Fulham and other teams but with them everything is quiet.
Forget all the controversy with Julian Asange, every football club seems to have one or two
individuals who are happy to wash their dirty laundry in public. For instance, where have the
rumblings about the precarious nature of Avram Grant's job come from? Or is it just chicken and
egg? Has his poor perfromance brought about the groundswell, or has someone tipped the media the
wink.
Back in the 2006/07 season West Ham found themselves in a similar position in the run up to
Christmas as they did this season. They were lingering down at the wrong end of the table and if
truth be told the spirit within the squad had evaporated. The season had started full of hope,
after the agonising defeat in the FA Cup to Liverpool in the final in the previous May West Ham
fans were looking for the club to push on and upwards.
