Jose Mourinho must be having a good laugh somewhere out there. Having just pocketed a cool
20million pounds to leave the managerial post, he just watched Chelsea's new puppet, Avram Grant
lose 2-0 to Man United. A superb glancing header from Tevez in the dying minutes of the first half,
as well as a late late penalty from Saha in the second half secured the points for the Red Devils.
Hands up all those who saw the Jose sacking coming. I didn't. Yes, I've been reading the usual
turgid and often sensationalist press headlines following a relatively slow start for Chelsea to
the new season 'Jose under pressure' etc, etc. But sacking any manager at this stage of the season
is totally ridiculous, and sacking someone who has been as successful as Mourinho has been at
Chelsea is complete and utter madness.
Chelsea's current woes look like continuing with the BBC reporting that it understands Premier
League rivals Manchester United will oppose Avram Grant being given special dispensation to manage
Chelsea without a Uefa pro licence.
According to BBC Sport, Premier League champions Manchester United are set to oppose allowing Avram
Grant to manage Chelsea withoiut the necessary coaching qualifications.
BBC Sport is reporting that Avram Grant is set to take over as permanent manager of Chelsea
Football Club.
The current director of football at Chelsea will take Mourinho's position after he departed the
club "by mutual consent." As is often the case when a new manager takes over, he's thrown into the
deep end as Chelsea travel this Sunday to Old Trafford to play Manchester United (11am ET, Fox
Soccer Channel).
He said his goodbyes this morning and got on out of London. His next destination - who knows?
Former Isreali coach and current Chelsea director of football Avram Grant will take over
first-team duties with the help of Mourinho's number two Steve Clarke (Ryan, at least it was a
quick decision without the rumor of Juande Ramos flying [...]
Today I woke up, got my cup of coffee turned the computer on to read the footballing news. I
read The Sun first and the headline is "Grant In For Jose" I think its a joke because lets be
honest its The Sun, so i read the London Times and i find out its true... Jose has left Chelsea. I
honestly spit out my coffee i was shocked out of all the managers he was probably one of the last i
would have expected to win the sack race.
