Serie B (which I still consider to be Europe's top second division) has made some changes for next season regarding squad size. Even though they play 42 games in Serie B, lots of squads have very big rosters and most coaches don't tinker with the line-up often, which culminates in lots of players sitting on the bench all year.

The Serie A kicked off yesterday with Inter, now featuring our old friend Jose Mourinho, being held to a 1-1 draw by Sampdoria. Italian football's reputation has taken something of a battering in recent years, but with five clubs all with reasonable hopes of winning the league, it is bound to be an exciting season.
