This season still has two more months remaining yet the transfer gossip in the football media is
already starting to be churned out and as always Manchester United is at the forefront of

Yesterday was one of those nights, when you just plonk in front of the telly and thank the Lord
for some football, any football that is going on. Even more so for United fans, after the no-show
that we put up against Bolton on Sunday. As luck would have it, I got to catch a lot of football,
right from the highlights of the first round of the Champions League, moving on to games from the
Championship, and even a sprinkling of games from League 1 and League 2!

New AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri may have inherited a Rossoneri side that had
been weakened by instability in recent years.
However, it took only one week the final week of transfers, to be precise to convince Allegri
that owner Silvio Berlusconi is fully behind an initiative to restore the club's image as a
European giant.

So, we made it. Anyone doom mongers out there will still state that the performances thus far
have been patchy, but does it really matter?
The footage from that Chinese fan kung-fu kick has arrived. Sort of the Holy Trinity of football

Pedro Leon's absence from Real Madrid's Champions League tie with Auxerre on Tuesday night
aroused suspicion as to why he was excluded. Well according to reports in Spain, coach Jose
Mourinho lost his tether with the young Spaniard after he totally disregarded team instructions
during the 0-0 draw with Levante on Saturday night.
As if to prove it's still anyone's title for the taking, Lyon stepped up to the plate last weekend
to take temporary charge of Ligue 1, swiftly followed by Marseille on Wednesday night.
As reported by us for some time now, Bordeaux have been hanging onto top spot by their very
fingertips, but over the last few weeks the chasing pack have been prizing off those fingers one by
one to the point where this week Bordeaux fell to fifth, and it was their two biggest rivals that
took full advantage.

Sorry for the short post guys, but there is precious little to be said. It's time to win, and
win every match from here on out. OL's destiny is in their own hands, and they have no one to blame
but themselves if they fail.
Qualifying for the 2011 Champions League is almost done. There are 22 teams confirmed for the
big money 32 team group stage, and the field for those final 10 spots was narrowed tonight with the
conclusion of the Third Qualifying Round, which saw a couple of familiar names bow out earlier than
planned.
So, as I said in yesterday's post, here's a list, once again, for the team to face neighbours
Austria in our friendly fixture on Wednesday.
Goalkeepers: Diego Benaglio (Wolfsburg), Marco Woelfli (Young Boys).
Defenders: Stephan Lichtsteiner (Lazio), Francois Affolter (Young Boys), Stephane Grichting
(Auxerre), Philippe Senderos (Fulham), Reto Ziegler (Sampdoria).
UEFA Champions League on the regional Fox Sports: Young Boys - Spurs at 2:30pm. Fox Soccer Channel
has Dynamo Kyiv - Ajax at 2:30pm and Fox Soccer Plus has Rosenborg - Copenhagen also at 2:30pm.
Other options on DirecTV only: Zenit St. Petersburg - Auxerre at 1pm on channel 481 and Sparta
Prague - Zilina on channel 482 at 2:30pm.

I love the live draw for the Champions League, more so the knockout rounds, yet the group stage
still heralds an air of magic about it.
There is no doubting the glamour and mysticism of this great competition, the annual world cup
for club teams.
London get 3 representatives this season, and with the final at Wembley next May.
No predictions actually, just one line telling you to back Real Madrid to lift ol' Big
Ears because there is no way Mr Mourinho is letting that trophy out of his
grasp...
Here are the group stages and I have arranged the teams with how I believe they will finish in
their respective tables.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho addressed the media one day before their Champions League
match against Auxerre. He had some choice words to say about the absence of Pedro Leon in the
Real Madrid squad but other than that his comments were pretty standard and politically correct,
but always entertaining!

Angel Di Maria scored the only goal of the game against Auxerre with just 9 minutes left on the
clock.Auxerre are a team that are nowhere near the top 5 teams in the French League and this should
have been an easy win for Real.
The referee missed what definitely looked like a Sergio Ramos handball just before he passed the
ball to Di Maria.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho believes victory in their next Champions League tie with AC
Milan will almost certainly clinch qualification to the last-sixteen.
He was delighted with his team's 1-0 victory in Auxerre where his decision to bring on Angel di
Maria swung the tie in the favour of Los Blancos.
PARIS, France— UEFA announced Thursday it had started disciplinary proceedings against Real
Madrid manager Jose Mourinho and two of his players, Xabi Alonso and Sergi Ramos, over a
'time-wasting' controversy. The pair are suspected of deliberately time wasting to get sent off in
the closing minutes of Tuesday's 4-0 Champions League win at Ajax and [.

Guingamp will travel to either Marquette or Mulhouse in the next round of the Coupe De
France.
After overcoming minnows Bonchamp 2-0 on Sunday, Guingamp will have to wait to wait to find out
their next opposition due to Sunday's game between Marquette and Mulhouse being postponed. A new
date for the game has not been arranged yet but the matches for the last 32 of the Coupe De France
will take place on the weekend of 23rd-24th January.

Toifilou Maoulida seems to be the buzz word on an otherwise deathly quiet Monday morning. At least
two of the dailies say the French striker- whose name sounds like an early Santana album filler-
could be about to join the 'Upton Park revolution' after hinting he was teetering on the verge of
leaving Lens for the Barclays Premier League.
