ARSENAL ace Bacary Sagna admits he would be tempted by a move to Real Madrid.
According to reports in his native France, Real are weighing up a £20million bid for the
26-year-old right-back.
Yesterday's delve into the maniacal madness behind Lorient's new kits brought about a discussion to

Nothing against the erstwhile hairstylist, indeed I enjoy his electrifying pace, skill on the ball,
and knack for the goal (such as this classy finish in the epic 2006 FA Cup Final). From Auxerre to
Liverpool to Marseille, and on to Sunderland on loan, he's been no stranger to gaudy statistics to

Juventus are weighing up moves for Arsenal duo Bacary Sagna and Emmanuel Eboue,
according to reports.
When Arsene sough to buy Bacary Sagna from Auxerre in the summer of 2007 for £7m, everyone had
thought that Le Professor had lost his marbles. Eboue had just completed a season at
right-back and played well, though he was no longer ripping up trees with his performances, whilst
Justin Hoyte did not disgrace himself [.
The polls are closed, you all have had your say, and you have voted for Bacary Sagna in 5th
place of the 2008/2009 Gooners of the Year.
I'll admit that I'm a bit surprised. I fully expected to get up and write a totally different
article but there was a push late yesterday and Sagna came in 5th.
I took a mini-break by not posting here yesterday, but that doesn't mean I abandoned you guys in my
head. The Distracter (who also greatly enjoys lists) insisted that I need to do more Top 5 Lists,
so I started working on two. But for now, watch some TV while enjoying some breakfast in
bed...Leading off we have a highlight reel of Sochaux's 1-0 opening day win at Auxerre, with

Lyon have won their last two matches by an aggregate of 8-1. They beat Belgian club Anderlecht 5-1
in mid-week, Champions League qualifying and followed it today with a 3-0 win at Auxerre. In some
ways, they look a club that is only one year removed from seven straight Ligue 1 titles.
In one very distinct way, however, they look like a team that should be docked that seven goal
difference.
Cantona The Rebel Who Would be King, by Philippe Auclair
This definitive account by Phillipe Auclair on one of football's great characters, a legend of
the modern game, Eric Cantona, is a must read for any football fans.
A fascinating biography by one of football's top journalist, Phillipe Auclair, who interviewed
more than 200 central figures in Cantona's life.
At age 22, Zinedine Zidane was playing in the Intertoto Cup with Bordeaux. At that same age,
Éric Cantona had just got a move from Auxerre to Marseille. Rivaldo had just moved from
Corinthians to cross-town rivals Palmeiras in São Paulo.
With the money involved in today's game and globalized scouting networks, such players would
already have been with one of the European giants before they had the chance to establish
themselves in their local teams.
Italian giants sniffing (not literally) around talented Frenchman.
Juventus have laid eyes on Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna as they draw up plans for the
right side of their defence.
According to Tuttosport, Sagna is on top of the hit-list at Vinovo and director Alessio Secco is
reportedly very keen to land him.
A Valter Birsa goal gave Auxerre a much deserved win over champions Bordeaux.

It's about time we shone our Jeu du Jour spotlight on Auxerre as we look back on Week 11. The only
team never to be relegated from France's top flight started off this season as though that might
all change, but after a defeat in each of their first three games, they now find themselves
unbeaten in eight and up to fifth in the table.
Now this is one of those footballing moments you just wish were more commonplace but are clearly
an oasis of rarity in a sea of poor sportsmanship. Auxerre striker Valter Birsa was felled by
Marseille man Bakari Kone, an offence the referee decided was worthy of a red card only to be told
by the victim of the accidental challenge that he had indeed got the decision wrong.
Of all the three main contenders for this season's Ligue 1 title, only champions Bordeaux now have
a 100% record after three games following Marseille's 1-1 draw with Rennes last Saturday.
Didier Deschamps had made a great start to his new career at the Stade Vélodrome following wins
over Grenoble and Lille, but Rennes are never the easiest of sides to beat - in fact the equivalent
tie finished 4-4 last season.
France's Ligue 1 is in full effect and its hottest team is Olympique Lyonnais. Brazilian playmaker
Michel Bastos scored the game winner in Lyon's 1-0 home win against Lorient. Claude Puel's team
have won 4 straight matches to move into 2nd place behind Bordeaux on goal differential. Lyon have
been doing it with defense allowing only 1 goal during their winning streak.

French Ligue 1 returns into action after the international break and Olympique Lyon are
leading the title race at the moment. Bordeaux and surprise package
Montpellier are just behind the leaders, while Marseille and PSG are slowly falling
behind. Monaco and Lorient are also exceeding expectations at the moment, while Toulouse, Nice and
Lille are not doing as well as last season.
French Ligue 1 have become one of the strongest leagues in Europe during the last few years and
it is constantly justifying its reputation. Round 10 this season was supposed to bring us the
biggest derby of French football but the OM-PSG derby was postponed because two
PSG players had contracted the swine flu.

It has developed into some kind of a tradition that every year, when the African Cup of Nations
takes place in January, Chelsea come out moaning about the effect it will have on their team with a
number of players leaving their club duty to represent their countries in it's continent's most
important competition.

A potential new signing for Celtic is not so well-known in European football circles. This is a
player that was one of the biggest football talents in Slovenia.
Birsa scored 19 goals playing for Hit Gorica in 2006 and he was league's top
scorer. This drew a lot of attention so a 20-year old Birsa moved to much stronger French
league.

Lyon blows by Marseille, 3-1 on the strength of two Benzema goals. Juninho adds another in
stoppage time. Sylvain Wiltord scored Marseille's only goal. Jeremy Toulalan and Jean Makoun
imposed their physical presence on the midfield and blunted Ben Arfa and Mathieu Valbuena.
Mamadou Niang appears to have been denied two penalty opportunities after Anthony Revelliere
charged him in the box.
Bordeaux are the only side remaining in Ligue 1 with a 100% record
Bordeaux find themselves as the only side in Ligue 1 remaining with a 100%
victory after their 4-0 win over Nice on Sunday. This weekend in Ligue 1 was
filled with some big victories, some expected results and a surprise showing by one of the newly
promoted sides!
Tomorrow, Lyon will be facing off against Anderlecht again for the second leg of the final round
of Champions League qualification. Lyon have pretty much assured themselves of a spot in the group
stages, thanks to their demolishing Anderlecht last week in France, but it's a stretch to say that
the Belgians have nothing to play for.
Chelsea have been sensationally banned from signing new players until January 2011 after being
found guilty of tapping up the reserve team sensation Gael Kakuta from Lens when he was 16 year old
player under contract with Lens. Chelsea are the next big club after AS Roma were banned for a
transfer window for poaching Mexes
from Auxerre in 2004.
What's amazing about this clip isn't so much the bad tackle or the retaliation from behind that
earned both Grenoble's David Jemmali and Auxerre's Ireneusz Jelen red cards, but the fact that
Danijel Ljuboja still has that ridiculously unsymmetrical hairstyle that he had way back during the
2006 World Cup.

Bordeaux lose at home, Grenoble snatch a point versus Lyon, Auxerre moves top with a 8th
consecutive win all that happened in the last round of Ligue 1 matches. Then of course there was
the incredible 5:5 draw between Lyon and Marseille in the previous round, that was deemed as "the
match of the century" by the French media and no doubt one of the best football matches in the
World in recent seasons.
Skysports.com understands Bolton are lining up a January raid on Manchester City for
striker Benjani Mwaruwari.
Bolton are desperate to add to their attacking options when the transfer window reopens in the
New Year and have earmarked Benjani as the player to fire them to safety.
