When the Red Bulls finally made the move to their glittering $200 million Cathedral of Football
this season, most fans expected that a new attitude would come with it - on the pitch, in public
and behind the scenes.
Whether you're a die hard fan whose heart breaks a little when one of your friends chooses
Manchester United over Liverpool to support (it happened to me the other day. A little part of my
love for that friend literally died on the spot), or a casual fan who thinks that they're talking
about (fat) Ronaldo when they're really talking about (gay) Ronaldo, there's this little thing
called the World Cup of football that you will be unable to avoid wherever you are on this planet
in the upcoming month.
Lakhdar Belloumi was finally cleared by Interpol in April 2009 and an international warrant for
his arrest rescinded.
Belloumi had been charged 20 years ago for throwing a bottle at an Egyptian doctor causing
serious damage to his eye. The incident took place after a 1990 World Cup match between Algeria and
Egypt ended in a brawl between the Algerian players and Egyptian supporters.

Manchester City got their Europa League campaign off to a winning start last night, with a
routine win over an unadventurous Red Bull Salzburg side that, with the exception of a brief spell
of dominance at the end of the first half, failed to assert themselves in the tie.
