Jozy Altidore should make his Europa League debut tonight as AZ Alkmaar lines up against Swedish
outfit Malmo FF.
Altidore, currently on a hot streak with his new club, has five goals in six appearances and has
been an immediate hit for the Dutch side since signing in mid-July.
Joahim Low did not have to dig his nose to strike gold. Mario Gotze serves notice that he might
be the next best thing to Mesut Oezil who is already the best thing since Lukas Podolski, Miroslav
Klose, and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Then there is the small matter of Thomas Muller and Andre
Schurrle.

to a draw by Belarus. Liechtenstein earned their first win since October 2007 as they beat
Lithuania 2-0.

Germany edged Austria 2-1 in a much-anticipated Northern European classic in Vienna.
The phrase national hero can be overused in football reporting, but one man who has a
valid claim to such a title is Torkil Nielsen of the Faroe Islands.
The Faroe Islands sit inbetween Norway and Iceland, due north of Great Britain. With a
population of only 50,000 they first entered international competition in 1990 where they faced
Austria in the opening game of their Euro 92 qualification campaign.
After another round of qualifying for Euro's 2012 it is no surprise to see holders and world
champions Spain on maximum points along with Germany and the Netherlands. Italy and Greece remain
unbeaten after five games while Slovakia are flying high as they bid to reach their first European
Championship.
