I may be getting phone ear, but it allowed me to hear many interesting things along my travels
through the back corridors the last few days - much more than I let drop in this week's summer
transfer window preview Postcard. Let's spill a few more items... Not exactly a great secret at
this point, but it does from all appearance seem that Terrence Boyd is heading to Rapid Vienna very
shortly.
No links this time, just a coupla semi-goodies, a bit of good news and a Danish-American horn toot.
It's just about that time again, so let's unpack those ol' thumbs up and down for summer... #1 -
Let's start with a couple of transfer report reviews: I can confirm that the Austrian report of
Rapid Vienna being a loan option for young Borussia Dortmund goal shark Terrence "Ostinato Cello"

Aleksandr Dragovic – Could Arsene Wenger bring him to Arsenal? by JS It will not be until the
summer transfer window opens but, in an interview, the Austrian international claims that Arsenal
are one of seven sides in the hunt for his services. "There are seven teams interested, two of
which are from Russia," confirmed [.

Austria quedaba más lejos de Uruguay en 1930 y, como otros paÃses europeos, decidió no acudir al
primer Campeonato Mundial.

This free kick routine from Rapid Vienna is much simpler, requiring far less top-drawer talent,
and just as aesthetic.
Germany is the first team to qualify for the Euro 2012 finals after wrapping up a perfect run
behind goals from Ozil, newcomer Goetze, Schurrle and forgotten man Podolski. Goetze actually had
another setup in the 8 minutes of action he saw that could have resulted in a hat-trick for Ozil,
had Ozil not scuffed it over the net.
Joahim Low did not have to dig his nose to strike gold. Mario Gotze serves notice that he might
be the next best thing to Mesut Oezil who is already the best thing since Lukas Podolski, Miroslav
Klose, and Bastian Schweinsteiger. Then there is the small matter of Thomas Muller and Andre
Schurrle.
Let's hit a few more items to send him from work with more to ponder than you know what to do
with.. Unfortunately, it looks like a Mo Edu move to Auxerre that was all ready to go has been
binned because Delvin N'Dinga now isn't leaving to Lyon. That sounded like a really good idea to
me, too. Though QPR are still interested, they kinda seem interested in every other midfielder out
there.

are desperate to kick start their campaign. The coach has indicated he will make changes for
tonight's game.
There is a time and place for a Panenka, while also remaining a 'who' unless your name is
Zidane, Totti, etc., it's probably best to leave the pitching wedge in the bag when ambling up to
the spot, especially with more than a goal on the line.
It's altogether possible that given the circumstances, this is one of the worst penalties taken
in recent time.
The last time the Austrian Bundesliga was of true mainstream relevance...

...still don't know. It's isn't the creme, that's for sure, and the smaller leagues are often
made more inconspicuous when there is a dominant power, even if that dominant powder can be found

The Ballad of Matthias Sindelar (Or How World War II Robbed Austria's Golden Generation) is a
post from: Just Football
The name Matthias Sindelar should be familiar to football aficionados everywhere as well as
historians, for that matter. But, by and large, it isn't. Chris Woolfrey elaborates on an iconic
symbol of Austrian football:
In his book Inverting the Pyramid Jonathan Wilson writes that "the modern way of
understanding and discussing the game was invented in the coffee houses of Vienna," and in the
realisation of an aesthetic of Austrian football formed by Hugo Meisl's Wunderteam and
their iconic forward Matthias Sindelar, a nation patronisingly deemed by some as
too lowly for its role as co-host of the 2008 European Championship contributed perhaps more to the
development of football than most so-called 'major' sporting nations ever have.
