It's not been a good week for Singaporeans. Liverpool lost again while a whole heap of folks who
have just discovered football found that Manchester City couldn't beat Sunderland last weekend.
To cap it all LionsX11 are top of the Malaysia Super League having defeated Negeri Sembilan 4-2
last night.
The word "football" in Australia may be interpreted in recent years as an oval shaped ball played
on a oval pitch with four large poles. This game called AFL has been an infatuation of Australians
everywhere. However, football — known ...

If you've ever watched the Brisbane Roar play - and most Aussie's don't have Fox Sports so will
never have seen them - they play to instruction, tactic and a tempo rarely, some say never, seen in
Australia.
There is many elements to their game but one is critical to Australian football development at all
levels.
The Australians are still feeling their way round Asian football and how it operates; or often
doesn't. Take Adelaide United. There they were happily looking forward to playing in the Asian
Champions League when all of a sudden they are being told that they now have to play a play off
against Indonesian champions Persipura.
Every Sydney resident who loves football should get down to the SFS to watch Terry Antonis this
year.
He's 17 and when he has the ball at his feet he's wonderful to watch.
Won't be long before he's heading overseas at this rate, but if you love football, Australians,
players with skill, a great attitude and wonderful craft - do yourself a favour.

Even in a non-tournament year the summer inevitably brought scrutiny upon English football. A
2-2 home draw with Switzerland kicked things off and a winless European U21 Championship campaign
sent the doom-mongers into overdrive. Hopefully you all had your checklists at the ready because
the key points were dutifully covered ad nauseam.
Socceroos defeat of Wales: a sign of things to come - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
The Socceroos' upcoming World Cup campaign looks on firm ground. This morning's friendly against
Wales showed the evident class of both sides' top players, but a workmanlike Australia were the
superior team against a side whose Premier League pedigree belies it's FIFA ranking of 119.
Having denigrated the A-League in its early years, SBS, the home of FTA Football has finally come
full circle.
Many football fans were sick and tired of SBS in its coverage of the A-League in those eary season.
They not only failed to promote and cover the game in a meaningful way but they stuck the boot in,
again and again, to a new professional league with all it's teething problems.
szólj hozzá: Australia 2-1 Norway
Kyah Simon scored a brace as the Matildas shrugged off a sluggish first half performance to
battle the more experienced Norwegians on even terms in the second half. It was the Norwegians,
however, exploiting the soft Australian defense who went up first through Elise Thorsnes.
The Malaysia Super League has been closed to foreigners these last few seasons and while there are
rumours doors will open again next year nothing has yet been confirmed.
In the past Malaysia was seen as an attractive destination for Australians, Singaporeans and
Indonesians. Whether it will still be seen as attractive next year remains to be seen considering
the rumours of match fixing and unpaid salaries that surround the game there.
Celtic fan Collette McCallum introduced the Celtic anthem to the Matildas side in 2007 and when the
team plays like this Australians can finally say as the song says - we don't care if we win lose or
draw.
Because the Matildas are playing the best football ever seen by a women's Australian side.
Watch Bruna of Equatorial Guinea casually pick up a ball in full view of the world when it is in
play. Incredibly, the referee Gyoengyi Gall from Hungary and her referee crew miss it altogether or
chose to ignore it completely.
This incident took place in a Group D match against Australia in the 15th minute when Collette
McCallum sends in a cross which Lila Khamis flicks onto the upright and as the ball rebounds back
into play, Bruna picks it up and carries it in her hand for a couple of seconds before releasing
it.
Rosana's 54th minute goal really should not have been. The Matildas were guilty of indulging the
Brazilians entry into their box. They had at least three chances to clear or muscle them off the
ball. Be that as it may, when the moment came Rosana niftily flicked the ball onto her left side
creating a clear path to goal and her volley had both power and direction carrying it away from
Melissa Barbieri.
Hello!
This note comes to you from Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon as it once was and in some ways still
is.
Nothing too dramatic to report as I've spent most of my time here either asleep (jetlag isn't,
as I had thought, a made-up thing that people who have spent time on aeroplanes use to make a fuss)
or working in my hotel room.

There will be less money for the A-League. Fox Sports has upper the ante for the AFL and will show
every game, every week (except the Final), live.
AFL has cemented its place with Gridiron, as the most profitable sport in the world. Built on a
solid monopoly that ensures clubs and players, ultimately, do as they are told.
The SLeague opened in 2006 and these were the Australians who were there for that first ever
season.

At last Greg our roving reporter re-appears to celebrate the recent events in Italy. No idea where
he is because they don't put stamps on e-mails. I'm guessing that he's somewhere in Europe but I
could be wrong. If anyone spots a Motorhome full of Australians don't hesitate to say 'g'day', buy
them a drink and put it on my tab.

DOHA, Qatar — An impressive Australia crushed India 4-0 to get their Asian Cup campaign off to a
decisive start Monday with red-hot Everton star Tim Cahill collecting two goals. Played at an
Al-Sadd Stadium packed with noisy expatriate Indians, a convincing win was needed by the Socceroos
to demonstrate their tournament credentials against a [.
