It would be impossible this early in 2012 to predict the "Story of the Season", that one piece
of news that dominates over all others. We know now that more stadiums in the works, including
those in Houston and San Jose, that MLS is poised for huge growth, and that a number of talented
American youngsters may make big moves into Europe (*cough* Brek Shea and Juan Agudelo
*cough*).

Sheree Murphy's in the home stretch of her fourth pregnancy and could go into labour at any
moment now.
In fact, thanks to her and her husband's precocious progeny plus exposure to those tiny photos
of him naked we might do the same.

I didn't watch the State of Origin I rarely do.
I've never watched the Brumbies despite being a passionate Canberran. Rugby just doesn't do it for
me.
Football is my sport - my thing. So it is great relief that Aussie football returns after what
seems like a huge break - well two weeks since the last ACL games.
Johor in the second tier Malaysia Premier League have reportedly signed English striker Richard
Offiong. If true then the 28 year old striker is no stranger to playing overseas. Previously he has
plied his trade in Scotland, Turkey, South Korea, Belgium, Australia and Sweden.
Fantastic game in Melbourne last night. Is it me or does this stadium lend itself to exciting
games. Fast, furious and full of entertainment.
Is it the surface, or the proximity of the crowds?
Harry Kewell was superb in Melbourne last night as the Victory defeated the Jets 2-1.
Returning to his left wing position - wonder what Mehmet thought - Kewell simply did what everyone
knows he can.
Wellington Phoenix will travel to Australia to take on last place Gold Coast United in a game that
is very important to American forward Alex Smith.

Sentenced to three days in a freezing pond, Besart Berisha (right, front) attempts to explain to
his team mates exactly what he was hoping to achieve by 'offering out' Sydney defender Pascal

There were some ugly scenes that followed Brisbane Roar's 2-0 victory over Sydney FC in the
Australian A-League recently, after Brisbane striker Besart Berisha scored his side's stoppage
time-winning goal: he removed his shirt (not ugly) and gestured for Sydney FC's Pascal Bosschaart
to follow him into the tunnel to 'sort things out' (where things proceeded to get ugly).

We've got Aussie football covered. All the news. Socceroos, A-League and W-League: all the footy

Adrian Leijer recently gave up some time for an interview with Adidas Onside. In the two-part
"Access All Areas" interview Adrian gives us a good insight into what its like to be a professional
footballer in Australia as he talks about his motivations, experiences and challenges. All credit

By Andrew Crawford, writing from Shanghai
Despite the city starting to slow down for the Chinese New Year, Shanghai Shenhua's PR machine
remains as busy as ever. The club's website is more brightly coloured than usual and images of the
new manager, Jean Tigana, and his star player, Nicolas Anelka, flicker across the screen whilst
behind them, four silhouetted figures stand in the background.
Over the weekend, Alex Smith and Wellington Phoenix came up with another important road victory in
Australia against the Newcastle Jets to move into third place in A-League.
Viteslea Lavicka is leaving!
Well is he leaving or was he dumped? Guess it doesn't matter.
Has a manager in Australia, in Sydney, ever been given such an easy ride.
The media in Australia all write and tweet about the guy being a lovely bloke but what about his
coaching, how will he remembered?
There was a time under the soon to be booted nicest man in football when Sydney won 1-0 - boring
but they won.
Then in season 2, they lost 1-0. More boring and more frustrating.
Now in Season 3 they lose, by 3, 4 or 5 and that's at home.
Mr Lavicka might be nice - but he's a pretty ordinary coach.
Australia will be one of the top draws and favorites at this weekend's IRB HSBC Sevens World Series
stop in Las Vegas. The Sevens Wallabies are currently a surprising seventh...
If you talk to some in clubland they follow and preach the FFA Small Sided Game mantra.
Nothing else.
Well those of us who work with kids know SSG's work in the working class areas of Brazil, although
even I would maintain some of those kids could have technical correction to speedy along their SSG
development, but they aren't the complete answer in clubland in Australia.
Melbourne Victory trio Harry Kewell, Mark Milligan and Archie Thompson have been named in Holger
Osiek's Australia squad to face Saudi Arabia in next weeks World Cup Qualifier on February 29.
Kewell has been in solid form over the last month and Mark Milligan, since joining the Victory on
loan in January has also impressed.

Referees have a tough time of it these days, what with television replays, shouty captains and

are.

Which is more important? Listening to your coach's team talk or looking hawt for the ladies?
Harry knows. That's why we wuv him.

grateful Nike has picked up our slack.

Melbourne Victory have announced the signing of teenager Julius Davies today on a National Youth

spent two years in FC Bayern Munich's youth system before returning to Australia where he has been
training with the Victory since January.

The word "football" in Australia may be interpreted in recent years as an oval shaped ball played
on a oval pitch with four large poles. This game called AFL has been an infatuation of Australians
everywhere. However, football — known ...

Melbourne Victory need an Aussie Coach.
Someone who understands Australia, our football history and our football present. Ernie Merrick was
a guy who understood Melbourne and Melbourne Victory he was an Aussie Coach in my book having lived
here for 20 years.

When it comes to the Australian A-League, our flighty affections lie squarely in Melbourne,
where Harry Kewell and his fam are nearing the end of plying their cuteness.
There was a time when Arsenal's Theo Walcott couldn't brush his teeth without dislocating his
shoulder, but now he is a fearless Spartan warrior (who also writes children's books) and it seems
to be benefiting his game. He's made 30 Premier League starts for Arsenal this season (his previous
high was last seasons' 19) and he says he is now a totally different Theo Walcott.
1. For all lovers of great Australian football.
2. Ange is a better National Curriculum than any document the FFA have ever handed out to Community
Coaches.
3. Ange plays the Aussie Youth, more often, more forward.
4. If you like movement, skill and tactics in football the Roar must win.

We the grassroots of Australia would like to create more creative players but when we send them off
to Rep teams and then watch them at National Championsips we're faced with this:
Massive pitches for U13 -
Han can you please inform me how this encourages players to overlap, to play through balls, for
coaches to take a few risks, to encourage the smaller play - he or she of little legs on the
massive pitch.
Football Federation Australia is "ramping up" preparations for the AFC Asian Cup 2015 with the
appointment of new members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC). The tournament is the pinnacle
event of the 46 nation Asian Football Confederation, the largest affiliated continental constituent
of the world football body, FIFA.

Earlier this month we advised you of a number of reasons (well, one, but it was a really good
one) why you should be watching the A-League.
The Colorado Rapids Women are looking for host families for the 2012 season.
Host families will house Rapids Women players in their homes for the 2012 season.
Most players arrive in mid May and all leave in late July.
Many Colorado Force fans have been host families in the past and have formed close ties with
players.
Image: Scott Barbour/Getty Images. No, we haven't a clue either, but when we saw this photo of
Hazza taken at the Moomba Festival Parade last month, we knew it would be a travesty if we failed
to publish it.
The parade's theme was 'Melbourne is delicious'.
At this point, it's very difficult to disagree.
So Eddie everywhere except Asia thinks the Asia Cup is a lemon as he told Sir Frank Lowy in his
recent Fox Sports interview on some AFL show.
Not a bad little interview, Frank was very impressive and you have to wonder if Frank had dropped
the ball on the A-League in recent years given the good news flowing after one meeting with Nathan
Tinkler this week.
With the restructuring of Australia's coaching badges we've seen an emergence of talented young
coaches taking A-League positions. Nick Cumpston and Nick Amies run the show this week as they
close off the coaching merry-go-round, look at all the latest player movement and dissect the
latest Socceroos squad.
