Unbeaten record versus the first place team. Blues vs Aztex will take place at Lockhart Stadium
tonight Wednesday May 26, 2010 at 7:30 pm.
Sure, its during the week but soccer is about passion! Miami FC have given us a competitive team
this year and a number of great Tailgates too. This tailgate is no exception!
Hola amigos! Everyones favorite dawg Burrito here wit mucho info on the Blues loss against those
pinches Aztex! What can Miami FC do to make this team bettererer?
Burrito's amigos at Miami Soccer Fan have an idea. El Presidente of the Miami Ultras Pieter Brown
break it down like this:
This year Miami FC spent some time and money to put a better team on the
field.
The end of their undefeated streak came at the hands of 1st place Austin Aztex last night at
Lockhart Stadium. Miami FC fans were thinking positive as the game started but soon we saw how our
defense started to fall apart thanks to Austin's fast forwards.
For a full report check out the South Florida "Football Fanaticos" Blog or head over to the
Official Miami FC site
As usual here are the pictures from last night by Robert Scorca:
Despite a hard-fought second half effort, Miami FC was unable to defeat the Austin Aztex at home as
a late penalty kick gave the visiting Aztex a 2-1 victory as the Blues prepare for an extended road
trip. The Blues will travel out west to take on the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday, June 29 in the third
round of the U.
This Wednesday Miami FC will play against Baltimore Crystal Palace at Lockhart Stadium. The game is
set to start at 7:30 PM and as usual, get ready for a great Tailgate starting at 6 pm with Live
band A Beautiful Cage , sponsors Holy Mackerel Beer will be giving away free samples of their great
beer, just to name a few!
Ah, the business of soccer in America. Just when a club (I use that word ironically, despite
treating it as a synonym for "franchise" in an American context) begins to take root, just when the
fan base is growing and just when a supporters groups see success in building their numbers, it's
all taken away.
This is the face of greatnessBefore I dive headfirst into the concrete-bottomed shallow end of the bracket, I'd like to take a
moment to say something about an issue that's been bugging me. I don't follow the second division
that closely, because it's not on TV, and there's even less money in writing about USL and NASL
than there is in writing about MLS, but the move of the Austin Aztex to Florida is disappointing,
if only for Austin soccer fans.
You can read here about the USL's Austin Aztex signing of Lawrence Olum who played with the
Minnesota Thunder last season.
The Austin Aztex of USL's Division 1 have signed Jay Needham, who most recently played with Alta IF
in the Norwegian First Division. You can read more about it by clicking here.
After 6 games the Blues are the only undefeated team in the USSF Div2. It was Miami's first win in
the season, product of a Paulo Jr goal! Christian Gomez sent a perfect pass to Paulo who buried the
ball in the net with no mercy on Saturday night. Read more about it HERE
The Blues set their sights on the Austin Aztex this coming Wednesday at 7:30 PM at Lockhart
Stadium.
The NASL's Austin Aztex signed former Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Ben Dragavon and you can read
more about it by clicking here.
Join the Miami Ultras at the official Sam's Army watch party at Fritz & Franz Bierhaus located at
60 Merrick Way Coral Gables, FL 33134-5319 (305) 774-1883 Come watch USA vs Ghana! Show up early
and look for Captain America and Uncle Sam. Support the USA as they try to advance to the
quarterfinals. Game starts at 2 pm!
Sadly Miami FC lost again this past weekend. We are now in last place and its not looking pretty!
What can we say at this point? Can we really, realistically make the playoffs? Can our new coach
Daryl Shore pull a rabbit out of his hat and turn things around? It's difficult for a coach to make
things happen with a team he didn't pick.

Jamie Watson of the Austin Aztex is this week's guest on the Jared Montz Soccer Podcast. Jamie
is a former U-17 USMNT player, MLSer, USL Second Division MVP and is currently having a great
season with the Aztex's in the USSF D2 League.
On the podcast we talked about how his season with the Austin Aztex is going, how the team is
doing, his journey through the ranks of US Soccer, why he says he "Twitters harder than you
Facebook", he answered some user submitted questions and we previewed the Aztex's upcoming game
against the Portland Timbers.
The Islanders overcame a 0-1 halftime lead by the Austin Aztex with three goals on the 2nd half
to defeat the Austin Aztex, the USSF Div2 leaders (14W-7T-4L, 49 points), 3-1
It was the Islanders 2nd straight win over the Aztex at home this year. The Islanders defeated
Austin 2-0 on their last visit August 14.
The Free Beer Movement was invited to join up at a FREE BEER event for this weekend's Austin Aztex
match against NSC Minnesota Stars. The local real estate firm CW Clay is getting into the Brazil
market and hosted a Brazilian Independence Day party in conjunction with Satruday's Aztex
match.
Being all things free beer and American soccer they reached out to us to help spread the word and
lure soccer fans and soccer newbies in Austin to the game.
In Austin? Like soccer? Like winning soccer? Like beer? Like free beer?
"What's with all these freakin' questions, man!??!?!"
Whoa, whoa... the Free Beer Movement just wanted to hook you up with some free beer this weekend.
Chill out.
"OK, I'm cool. What's up?"
This Saturday, September 4th from 4:30pm to game time the FBM, in cooperation with local real
estate firm CW Clay, is hosting a FREE BEER tailgate before the Austin Aztex host NSC Minnesota
Stars at 7:30pm.
The off-season for D-2/3 soccer is near and this fall and winter could be just as interesting as
last year's when the USL and NASL were at a split with one another. News this morning could help
fuel that fire just a little more as IMS is reporting that the Austin Aztex could be moving to
Orlando to play in the USL-Pro next year.
R.I.P. 2008 - 2010
On Friday, upon returning home from work, I was reading up on soccer news from my Twitter feed when
I started reading frantic "tweets" from many of my Austin soccer friends. Inside Minnesota Soccer
had broken the news that my local club, the Austin Aztex, were packing up and moving to Orlando,
Florida.
I really feel for Austin Aztex fans. The rumors of the move from Austin to Orlando that Inside
Minnesota Soccer's Brain Quarstad broke out was right on the money. If anyone knows what Austin
fans are going through it is us South Florida soccer fans who have been down that road before. The
way it was done to Aztex fans seemed like a sneaky exit stage right (or wrong).
What was rumor is now fact; the Austin Aztex are no more, having been uprooted from Texas and moved
to Florida to continue life as Orlando City Soccer Club. Phil Rawlins is the man responsible, and
while he's saying all the right things about bringing professional soccer to Orlando, it's
impossible to ignore the broken hearts he left behind in Austin.
Union
Fight aneurysms: protect this man! (Photo: paul Rudderow)
WVHooligan predicts who the Union will protect in the Expansion draft. I can't say whether I
don't like the list or disagree with it, but if the Union have to leave Shea Salinas and Sheanon
Williams unprotected and lose them because of league rules about international players, I think I
might have an aneurysm.
