Today in Utah, she traveled into the suburbs of Salt Lake City to do an appearance on behalf of Best Friends Animal Society, a fantastic non-profit located at the heart of the Golden Circle of national parks in southern Utah and is home on any given day to about 2,000 dogs, cats, and other animals, who come from shelters and rescue groups around the country for special care they can only receive at Best Friends.

Two Northern Athletics Conference women's soccer coaches think enough of the Edgewood College to vote the Eagles as the favorite for the conference title this fall.

But Edgewood still was picked to finish fourth in the NAC, behind perennial power Aurora, Dominican and Concordia (Wis.).

Aurora (16-6 overall, 10-1 NAC in 2009), which has won all four NAC regular-season championships and three of the four conference tournament titles, narrowly edged Dominican for the top spot in the coaches' preseason poll.

Aurora has dominated Northern Athletics Conference women's soccer competition in the league's brief history, winning all four of the regular-season titles and three postseason tournaments.

Not surprisingly, the Spartans are the team to beat again this fall. They didn't do anything to undermine that thought Saturday in a conference opener at Breese Stevens Field, slowing down Edgewood College's free-flowing attack in a 1-0 victory.

Offense was at a premium in the Northern Athletics Conference women's soccer semifinal between Edgewood College and Dominican on Wednesday afternoon.

Sophomore Nallely Arreola capped a one-woman counter attack with a shot from 20 yards out that got past Eagles sophomore goalkeeper Kristi Frisch (McFarland) in the 95th minute, giving the host and second-seeded Stars a 1-0 overtime victory in River Forest, Ill.

BoliviaOriente Petrolero are stand alone leaders of the division after winning their midweek fixture and at the weekend. They beat Real Mamoré 2-0 on Thursday and bottom of the table Universitario 3-1 on Sunday. Aurora won both of their fixture this week to take 2nd position, beating championship rivals Bolívar 3-2 on Thursday and leapfrogging San José on Sunday with a 4-1 win.
