Kartik Krishnaiyer of Major League Soccer Talk invited me onto his show to discuss the ongoing
situation between the USL-1 Team Owners Association (TOA) and the United Soccer League. As you
know, the USL announced Nike's sale of the league to NuRock Holdings last week after a supposed
high bid was awarded to a group headed up by Jeff Cooper of St.
We had a request via Twitter for Tony Limarzi's call of Sunday's final two goals. You ask, we
deliver.
Emilio's game-tying goal in the 90th minute:
And here's the call on Chris Pontius' game-winner just a minute and a half later that captured
the win for the Black-and-Red:
I'll provide a dollar to anyone that accurately transcribe what Tony says during the run-up to
Chris' goal.
The Minnesota Thunder opened their 2009 preseason workouts on Friday. In attendance was Nic
Platter, senior goalkeeper for the team who was wearing the familiar Thunder goalkeeping training
kit rather than the DC United one he had donned the last 3-weeks. Platter took a few minutes after
the teams workout to explain the reason that [.

You're all familiar with DC101's DJ-extraordinaire Roche (3-7 p.m. every day on 101.1!). What
you may or may not know, is he is a big soccer guy and a D.C. United supporter through and
through.
Roche approached me several weeks ago about his desire to do a podcast with United and MLS guys,
but he didn't want it to be your run of the mill soccer podcast.
Taylor and Tim Twellman
As part of the Schawan's USA Cup tournament, Taylor Twellman came to Minnesota to speak to high
school players.
Tim Twellman, former Minnesota Kicks player joins Taylor Twellman of the New England Revolution
in a very fun and informative conversation concerning life growing up for Taylor as a multi-sport
athlete and having numerous professional athletes including his father as role models.
Yesterday, Roche of DC101 had Chris Pontius on his show as a guest to discuss Sunday's game
against Real Madrid. Listen to the full interview below..

After Saturday's 0-0 draw between the Galaxy and Chivas USA, Bruce Arena and Preki each seemed a
bit more upbeat than you'd expect. Perhaps because at the point that each team went down a man, the
respective coaches were probably praying for or at least would have been content with a draw, which
is exactly what they got.

Shadow Boxing football is a joy to watch actually.
As what Super Reds had shown us how fundamental skills were being applied to curb a superior team
like SAFFC, who were, honestly, out-of-sort hours ago.
Pending how individual look at it, for me it was a joy to watch despite the snail-paced of football
played as it's not very often we seen such simplicity style of being played in an era when the game
is getting more complex with list of dubious formations and much focused on pace, rather than the
basic skills we first taught to master at very young age.
The Carleton men's soccer team coached by Bob Carlson who is in his 13 year with the Knights are
8-1 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 12-3 overall. They are now on a
10-game winning streak and have moved up to number 2 in the NSCAA ranking for the North region in
Division III.
Today's guest is Teal Bunbury of the Akron of Ohio Zips soccer
team. Teal has been a resident of Minnesota since 2000 growing up in Prior Lake. He played for the
Rochester Thunder PDL team this past summer and has 17 goals for Akron this season. As a sophomore
he leads the NCAA in scoring.
The Minnesota Thunder opened their 2009 training with a session on Friday morning at the National

Gramenz talks to IMS about the team and asses their long April road-trip. He also tells us what

Russell Hurder is the Thunder kit sponsor - for now
Thunder fans were all abuzz when the team took the field on Saturday evening for their home
opener. Not only because the team was making their first appearance on the NSC field in nearly 7
months but also because of the red logo on the front of the new Nike kits that Minnesota was
wearing.
Here's Tony Limarzi's call from Santinio Quaranta's game-tying goal Saturday night at
Chivas.
Here's the audio from Bryan Namoff's appearance on KALL700 earlier tonight.
After doing admirably in the hated beep test and being put through a workout by the training
staff, Danny Szetela sat down with our intern Anthony to chat. Among the topics discussed: why he
wanted to be in D.C., his U.S. National Team aspirations, his time abroad in Italy and Spain, his
preferred position and last night's win over Rochester.

Most soccer fans in Minnesota who follow the game outside of the state of Minnesota are familiar
with the web site called duNord Futbol which is the work of our own Bruce McGuire. A contingent of
Minnesota fans were down in Mexico for the game last week and McGuire was one of them.

Coach Mikki Denny-Wright could not have scripted it any better. After a week full of rain and
bad weather, the sky's cleared and the air dried out. With temperatures at game time in the low
70's°, a perfectly blue sky and a nearly full house of 987 at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium, the
Gophers soccer team just needed a win to end the evening perfectly for coach Denny-Wright.

yesterday by US Soccer regarding the decision not to sanction any 2nd division league for the 2010
Season.

Some more post-game audio from Sunday.
Eduardo Lillingston apparently speaks English, but he preferred to talk after Sunday's game in
Spanish. I had my digital recorder closer to him and further away from the translator but there is
some English thrown in there if you need the help.
Anyway, here's Lillingston talking about the game and MLS and telling me he was going to enjoy the
win before thinking about the Galaxy.
I jumped in a bit late on the Jesse Marsch conversation so that's why it starts kind of
mid-sentence.
Also, a bit of a disclaimer: I wore a Mexican club's jersey to the game so that's what he's
referring to.
Here's the link to the audio.
I got my digital recorder back and finally have time to post some stuff.
First up is the press conference from Sunday. Preki joined us and talked about the game and some of
the performances. The fun started late in the press conference after Preki fielded a question on
the Galaxy and whether he watched the game on Saturday or not.

Taylor and Tim Twellman
As part of the Schwan's USA Cup tournament, Taylor Twellman came to Minnesota to speak to high
school players concerning a company his father Tim works for that matches student athletes up with
colleges for recruiting. I was able to arrange an interview with Taylor and thought it might be fun
to included his father in the conversation.
Last night, Tom Soehn was a guest on Rochester's 'Soccer Is A Kick In The Grass' radio program
to discuss tonight's game versus the Rhinos. T-Soehn is the first guest on the program, while the
hosts also talk to the Rhino's all-time leading goal-scorer, Doug Miller.
Earlier today, United President Kevin Payne and Real Madrid executive (and former stud player)
Emilio Butragueño held a conference call today with media to discuss the two club's upcoming
friendly on August 9. Listen to the entire call below.
