Welcome to episode #10 of the IMSoccer News North American Soccer League
Podcast.
The NASL is at the halfway mark of the season with all teams having played 14 games. This week
I'm again joined by co-hosts Gerry Wittmann and Jay (YankiBoy) Long. The three of us review the
eight NASL teams and discuss the good, the bad and the ugly in regard to each teams status and the
players, coaches and management that are helping or hindering.
A young #22, Tony Glavin, dribbles the ball.
A young man is picked up in a chauffeured Rolls-Royce to sign a new contract at the age of 19
and who shortly thereafter was keeping company with international football/soccer stars. Jumpcut
thirty years later to see that same man driving a school bus that's seen better days (better
decades, actually) full of unheralded young soccer players.
As we were awaiting confirmation last night of Alex McLeish's appointment at Villa Park, the
Birmingham Mail's Mat Kendrick spoke with theScore's Brendan Dunlop and Kristian Jack of The Footy
Show podcast to share his reaction to events over the past week or so.
It's an interesting insight so I've borrowed a little under five minutes from the final 16
minutes or so of the podcast which featured the interview with the man from the Mail.

Welcome to week #9 of the IMSoccer News North American Soccer League Podcast.
This week Gerry Wittmann is working on another IMS story and next week he'll be on Gold Cup duty.
So this week I'm joined by co-hosts regular Jay (YankiBoy) Long and our special guest, Tim Hayes,
otherwise known as The Super Rookie.
Welcome to week #8 of the IMSoccer News North American Soccer League Podcast.
Once again this week I'm joined by co-hosts Gerry Wittmann and Jay (YankiBoy) Long.
We take a slightly different tack on things this week as Jay, Gerry and I review this past weeks
games and give our predictions for this coming weekends games.
Welcome to week #7 of the IMSoccer News North American Soccer League Podcast.
Once again this week I'm joined by co-hosts Gerry Wittmann and Jay (YankiBoy) Long.
We again travel around the league getting first-hand game reports from correspondents who took
in NASL games.

LA SAGRADA SELECCION
Todo México se une al compás de los tambores
con el grito del aliento que desnuda la emoción,
con el canto futbolero que enamora corazones
con los once gladiadores de la heroica Selección.
Chad Barrett has always been an enigma. He has all the tools to be a productive forward, gets
himself in good spots during games but has been plagued with poor marksmanship.
He was able to set that aside for one match at least, as he scored his first LA Galaxy goal in
Sunday's 2-1 win over Chicago.
This may be outdated by the time you listen, or it may be fresh for another couple more
hours/days/who knows?
But here is audio of Robin Fraser talking about the Benny Feilhaber decision, which as of 3:50 p.m.
PT had not been made. The deadline was 2 p.m. PT so this whole thing has gone on for a ridiculously
long amount of time.
There's no doubt that Newcastle now have a chance to get in Europe this season although whether the
lads can take the opportunity or not, is a completely different matter. Alan Pardew Bolton will be
very very tough Any such talk of Europe has quite rightly been played down by the Newcastle
players [.
I'll be a guest on the Soccer Sam Kick This radio show again this
morning.
Kick This out of Rochester, NY is the most listened to weekend radio soccer talk show in the
nation. Of course we'll be talking about the North American Soccer League and the 1-year
provisional sanctioning that was approved by the United Sated Soccer Federation's Board of
Directors on Friday afternoon in Las Vegas, Nevada where the USSF Annual General Meeting is being
held.
"The goalkeeper is the lone eagle, the man of mystery, the last defender. Less the
keeper of a goal than the keeper of a dream." - Vladimir Nabokov
They're a breed apart, to be sure. Sympathy for Perkins and all the other oft-maligned netminders?
We again thank reader nufcfan93, who has created this audio from the radio broadcast of the
unbelievable comeback on Saturday. Every Newcastle fan needs to listen to this.
Ben Rycroft
Ben Rycroft of Metro News Canada and more recently, Canadian Soccer News, invited me to
participate with him in a conversation regarding the news that broke last Friday that USSF had
turned down the North American Soccer League for sanctioning of D2 soccer for 2011.
Mann Lagos
Today's guest is Manny Lagos. It's been a busy January for the former MLS and US National team
player who has now turned his attention to coaching. Lagos was first in Fort Lauderdale, FL. in
early January for the MLS Combine and while there was able to observe the US U-20 Men's National
team team train.
