The base price for a midfielder in the EPL fantasy league is £4.5m. Like most other seasons, this
year most of the key all-star players have increased in price, meaning a lot of people are looking
to squeeze in base price players to accomodate their bigger names.
Today we are looking at the basement priced mids, and trying to find players who are likely to earn
enough points to make them worthwhile additions to your team.
Are you a fan of Frank Lampard? Don't worry, if you choose not to answer in the
affirmative, you surely have some company. While I have written several articles here at
Premiership Talk to demonstrate my support for Frank Lampard, this article is not about
my support.
A player who gives 100% and could represent the difference between success and failure at
Anfield.
Someone remarked to me, midway through last term, whilst I saw in my Anfield seat that Yossi
Benayoun is a player that just about everyone values, except for Rafa Benitez. Now whilst the
statement was a little over the top it did have some resonance in reality and hopefully now our
boss realises just how important the Israeli utility man can be for the club.
Irrespective of what some would have you believe, it is foolhardy to try and predict at an early
age which players can make it at any professional club, let alone one with Liverpool's
ambitions.
This should be the principle underlying any talk about the prospects of those players at the
academy or in the reserves.
As part of our continuing partnership with the guys over at Soccer Pro, from time to time they
send us products to test out and review. This month we received a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor V
cleats to try out, and after three matches of playing in them I must admit that I have only good
things to say about them.
We all knew coming into this season that Tottenham, on paper, was going to be a very strong
team. They qualified for the UEFA Cup at the end of last season, and they were ready to play well
this season as well. Everything seemed to be pointing in the right direction for them. The
beginning of the season did not go according to plan, though.
Improving midfielder makes unwise comparison.
"I'm in my third season now and I'm playing more games," Lucas told BBC Radio
Merseyside.
"Steven, ten years ago, started like me," he continued. "But when you are focused and you work
hard you can get a chance [to show what you can do].
That headline is somewhat contrived. But it does underscore an important point: a year ago, Arsenal
wouldn't have won 1-0 yesterday. Mr. Wenger often says the team is growing but year-on-year between
07-08 and 08-09 it seemed to have gone backwards not forwards. We were toothless in midfield and
conceding stupid goals.
by JOSH My friend posed this question to me on Sunday morning after Cesc moved to the top of our
goalscoring charts for this season. Was this just another knee jerk reaction after a sumptuous
run of form, or is Fabregas turning the corner from potentially world class, to one of the best
midfielders in the world?
Think what you will of Andrea Dossena's qualities as a player - and I know that there are those out
there who will think very bad things - yet you can hardly find a fault in his attitude.
Frank about his difficulties in adapting to the language and culture, he kept trying his utmost
regardless of whether he was starting the game or being sent on for the final few minutes with the
result already sealed.
Javier Aguirre almost never singles out players for praise. But he broke that rule when El Tri
returned home yesterday. He called Giovani Dos Santos and Carlos Vela the foundation of Mexico's
future footballing aspirations.
"For their age, their time, for the situation they found themselves in, they performed
brilliantly at such a young age.
All Pro Dad, which is supported by Tony Dungy and the National Football League, referenced recently
about management guru Jim Collins - he had studied 11 of the most successful American companies
over the past 15 years. These businesses averaged more than seven times the stock returns of the
general market.
Arsenal striker Eduardo, who has recently been a frequent
victim of jeering from rival fans around the nation, has finally been vindicated over a diving
accusation that marred his reputation of a sincere and hardworking striker. The Croatia
international, who was banned for an attempt to deceive the officials by going down
without any contact during Arsenal's Champions League clash against
Celtic last month, was exempted from blame on the grounds of a lack of clear
evidence.
Arsenal fans love scapegoats, rightly or wrongly. Invariably these have been players on the
fringe who the fans can't wait to have a go at, from Perry Groves, Ray Parlour and last season
Emanuel Eboue. Towards the end of last season and for this season the bête noire of the fans has
been Abou Diaby.
Briefing: Gentlemen, let me introduce you to the US MNT tactical leader,
Director Bob Bradley (aka "King Skeletor"). Director Bradley has been in charge of the MNT's
activities since the disastrous end of Mission 2006 which resulted in Former Director Arena
being deposed.
Now I didn't mean to plan it this way, but here is my 50th post. I started almost 4 months ago in
January. At first writing about the Arsenal was meant to be part of a eclectic blog. Since then I
have developed so much interest in blogging that this Gunners Today has become an entirely separate
project.
Since last summer I've firmly believed that Ade would be sold on this summer. I wrote a post
back in April explaining my reasons why I thought he was off...
For those of you who cant remember here's the link;

When Ade first signed for Arsenal, Wenger knew what he was buying.
Nikki B is a player who usually sparks a mass debate between Gooners.
He has his critics, mainly a section of the Gooner faithful that decided booing him was the best
option last season. I didn't agree with it but it seems that the booing gave him a proper kick up
the arse.
I think in a strange way it changed him for the better.
And why? Note the question again. It doesn't ask who you want to start, but who
should start. The sentiments of the heart cannot overrule the reasons of the mind.
When one door is closed, another is opened. RVP's injury gave one of Eduardo, Vela and maybe
even Walcott for now to stake a claim.
