Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says he will not be spending for the sake of buying in this
month's transfer window and will instead focus on the players currently at Anfield.
The 59-year-old will attempt to get the best out of the existing squad, and will start by getting
their confidence up.
He also commented that the current squad is a lot better than the team's critics are making out.
This was Arsene Wenger's description of our performance.
We had both a good result and a good performance. We had quality in our attitude, spirit and
focus.
Yes, in the end of the day it is the result that matters but on this day, we got all the
concoction right.
Chelsea's big win against Bolton Wanderers last Monday give a much more valid prove that the
Blues are finally getting back into their old self, with the striking department start to click
their engine once again the other part of the team looked more secured.
However, aside from applauding the improvement that his squad are making, the club's tactician,
Carlo Ancelotti, still plan to add the defensive reinforcement he has been planning since the
winter and the tactician confirmed that David Luiz is their new target.
Birmingham 0-3 Arsenal - and one very annoyed Lee Bowyer
As you may have been able to tell, my previous two posts were pre-set to publish over the
weekend last Thursday as I was away for a fantastic new years weekend. I hope you enjoyed the
finale of the festive season as well.
The Game The away win against Birmingham was just what we needed after the disappointing draw
against Wigan Athletic as we approach today's game with the right attitude and the right mentality.
As I said in the ...
The Singapore media, led by the football loathing, draught excluding, tree destroying Straits
Times, continues to take aim at certain players in the national team.
Following on from the story that five cards were caught playing cards after lights out, only
Singapore could make a story out of this nonsense, comes news in the ST, and therefore unlinkable
unless you pay which I won't, that one of the players, angry at being caught/being fined asked for
his ticket back to Singapore.
For the second time since he arrived at Newcastle, Alan Pardew has expressed some doubts about
young Nile Ranger's attitude. Nile Ranger something missing? Pardew has said the problem is not
lateness, and that he's only been late once since Alan arrived, but it's something that Alan sees
that is missing with the youngster.
Lets get this straight, its a bad result. We don't really need any extra games right now and we
certainly can't be doing with those types of performances against anyone. We so nearly lost.
However, it may just give the squad a reality check ahead of the game against Ipswich. A lesson
that they can't just turn up to win because that is what I fear, this team has done that so often
over the past few years where the attitude has been that they can just turn up and the opponents
would give them the three points on a silver platter.
The right-back is rumoured to have fallen out with the former Reds boss earlier in the season and
had been linked with a January move to Spain but will take his chance under Kenny Dalglish.
The Anfield legend was installed as the new Liverpool manager until the end of the season at the
weekend.
In his first game in charge on Sunday, Liverpool lost to Manchester United in the third round of
the FA Cup, thanks to a controversial first minute penalty by Ryan Giggs.
Morning all,
hope you're well this Tuesday. It's a bit quiet really, the post-weekend stuff has calmed down
and there's still not a great deal being said about tomorrow night's game against Ipswich. As
rumoured they've appointed Paul Jewell as manager to replace Roy Keane. Jewell, of course, was in
charge of Wigan when they beat us in the Carling Cup semi-final a few years back before they went
on to get hammered in the final by United.
I normally hate capital letters being used to show shouting or a raised tone of voice. That
title isn't so much shouting, more bellowing through a mega-phone.
It's hard to know who is at fault for yesterdays pitiful and frankly disgusting result and
performance, the players certainly. The manager, probably.

Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart has warmed the collective cockles of Spuds
the length and breadth of the land today by revealing that he is so goddamn happy at White Hart
Lane that he wants it to continue forever and a day, until civilisation crumbles, human kind is
wiped from the face of the Earth and even the deepest oceans run bone-dry.
Rafael van der Vaart has been speaking about his love for Spurs ahead of Sunday's clash with
Manchester United.
The Dutchman has been a revelation since he joined, almost as an afterthought on the last day of
the summer transfer window. His goals, and all round world class performances have helped us up
into fourth place as we prepare to take on the league leaders.
West Ham 0-3 Arsenal
Yesterday evening we got a tantalising glimpse of the real Arsenal. There is absolutely no point
in going overboard because of a win against the leagues bottom side but everything that had lacked
the previous performances was shown here in abundance. I was the proper Arsenal.
Tim Sills: Has returned to Aldershot
Tim Sills' move to Aldershot brings the total number of strikers to have left Stevenage this
January to 4. Lee Boylan and Terry Dixon were released, while Peter Vincenti signed for Aldershot
last week. Sills has followed in Vincenti's path and has joined Dean Holdsworth's Shots after his
contract at Broadhall Way was terminated earlier in the day.
Were you ever in a gang at school or shortly after, maybe not a gang but a group of people you
always gravitated towards?
Security in numbers: there is often a leader that others look to whose presence empowers and
energises the rest; when missing there is a tangible drop in the collective self belief but on his
return confidence is restored and a feeling prevails that things can be achieved when at other
times they might not.
Not going to be around tomorrow so there are a few things I would like to talk about, as but
first and foremost the upcoming game against Leeds at Elland Road.
Any game against Leeds is one we want to win, to say there is history there would be an
understatement, I'm confident of a win though we need to continue the attitude that we took into
the game against West Ham.
Right, we'll start with the football and tonight we travel to Elland Road for the FA Cup 3rd
round replay.
We got out of jail at the last minute in the first game and we're going to have to see a
performance much more like the one we saw at Upton Park on Saturday if we want to progress. At the
weekend the team's attitude was spot on, prompting more claims from our players that this was the
'real' Arsenal and how we'd turned a corner.
Nile Ranger scored a hat-trick for the Newcastle Reserves on Monday afternoon, but there still
seems to be concern about the 19 year-old's attitude. Nile Ranger - Willie Donachie's job to bring
him through if it's possible And in a long interview today in the Newcastle Journal today, coach
Willie Donachie talks at length [.
Heurelho Gomes has shown that he has adjusted well to British football by announcing that Spurs
must ‘take each game as it comes.'
We are heading towards some crunch fixtures which will be pivotal in our desire for success this
season. There are some vital games ahead in the league, while our FA Cup 4th round tie and the AC
Milan clash begin to loom large.
The signing of Miguel Madera, known more commonly as Michel, has been confirmed by AEK on the
club's site. The deal is a loan deal (the player was previously part of Birmingham's squad but
failed to make many appearances from what I read) with an option to buy. I can't say I know very
much about him, but he's said some good things about the club and seems to be happy with moving to
AEK.
Now I have been holding off on writing this blog post for a couple of months now in the hope that
his form would improve and things would get back to normal. Let's be honest it hasn't at all and
finally I believe (in light of this article about Malouda) it's time to have my say on things (an
encourage all of you reading this to do the same by commenting below).
After the Pittsburgh Steelers grabbed a 24-0 lead over the New York Jets, it appeared as if the
Steelers would easily advance to the Super Bowl. However, the Jets defense locked up, the Jets
offense got in gear and the comeback was on. As it turned out, it was too little, too late for New
York. The game ended with the score 24-19 after Ben Roethlisberger's clutch pass for a first down
sealed the affair.
The attitude of Richard Keys and Andy Gray towards the lineswoman Sian Massey shows how deeply
entrenched – and how casual – sexism is in football.
Kenny Dalglish today paid tribute to the attitude of Glen Johnson following the England defender's
impressive displays at left-back.
The Reds boss has been delighted by the No.2's commitment since taking charge and feels he has
adapted well to the challenge of playing in an unfamiliar position in the back four.
Man City bad-boy Emmanuel Adebayor has been sent to Real Madrid in loan with a Madrid option to
make the deal permanent for £13million transfer in the summer.
Real Madrid have spent all month searching across Europe for another striker. They had spoken to
City about Adebayor earlier this month but his £148,000-a-week wage deal at City was too rich for
even Real Madrid.

This was the image towards the end of our previous final:-
Next month when we play on the same stage, albeit at a different stadium, this team are
determined that picture won't be replicated across the back pages the following day. They have
worked to get to their first Wembley final in a long, long time and if the attitude and
determination of the players last night is anything to go by it will be a successful one.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is hoping that the club's new found defensive strength can provide
the platform to push further up the table.
Despite a poor start to the season, the Reds now sit seventh in the Premier League after the 1-0
win against Fulham on Wednesday night.
It followed the 3-0 victory against Wolves at the weekend, which means they have now kept two clean
sheets in a row - for just the second time this season.
Carlo Ancelotti has admitted he has no idea whether Liverpool striker Fernando Torres will become a
Chelsea player this month.
The Blues had a £35 million bid for the World Cup winner rejected earlier in the week, but are now
said to be preparing an improved offer after Torres submitted a written transfer request at
Anfield.
