The January transfer window in Europe is a time of rampant speculation, intrigue and
uncertainty. And not just for the players that move, but also for their new teammates. During this
past January, several U.S. players changed addresses, with many crossing borders into new leagues
and new situations.
Neymar's a bit of a savior, on the pitch and off, considering his magical ability to be tabloid
fodder for the wilting transfer pages while also serving to make anyone else's hair look better by
comparison. Turns out Real Madrid wants his on-pitch abilities, but nothing to do with his hair
(possibly a lie, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt), which should be a component of all
transfer considerations.
Even if the Gunners ended a sixth season without a trophy, manager Arsene Wenger again insisted
that the attitude of the players has been spot on. Speaking to Arsenal TV Online, the Frenchman
explained that attitude-wise ...

We had our suspicions that we would be seeing more of Utsiktens BK player Anton Hysen. For
those who have not been paying attention, Hysen was the subject of a media frenzy a few months ago
when he came out as gay during an interview with Offside magazine and simultaneously ingratiated
himself with the laydeez by being incredibly darn cute.
There is a good report in the local Newcastle Journal this morning. N'Zogbia - greed and attitude
turning off Pardew And the news doesn't seem good for those of the newcatsle fans who want to see
Charles back on Tyneside. It seems it is becoming very hard to read exactly what the intentions of

Yup, if Ives is to believed, and he's usually reluctant to post anything until it's a done deal,
Adu is coming back stateside and checking some of his oversized attitude to try to re-establish
himself as a regular on the USMNT under Klinsmann. How, you ask? Well, he's going to be unveiled as
a new DP signing in the next few hours for the Philly Union.
Manchester City troubled striker, Mario Balotelli, has hit the news once again after his
dismissal in the Europa League tie against Dynamo Kiev which saw his team failing to overcome the
2-0 deficit in the first leg. The red card incident followed with his antiques, arguing with a Kiev
fans on the way home, cost the striker dearly as not only the press slandered him a lot, the
Italian international was also "punished" by the national team coach, Cesare Prandelli.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has rubbish talk linking Joe Cole with a move away from the club
this summer.
The England midfielder has endured a difficult season on Merseyside as injuries and lack or form
has restricted his progress this season.
But after coming off the bench to score against Birmingham City on Saturday, Dalglish insists the
player has a future at Liverpool.
Damien Comolli, Director of Football at Liverpool Football Club, on what he looks for in a
player-
‘I would say there has been a major change in the last 3 to 4 years whereby I think now we need
to look a lot more at the psychological aspect of the player, the attitude of the player, the
mentality of the player on the pitch than we used to.
That's the sad part of the biggest game of the season I guess. One of the two teams will go home
as winners. I am finding it hard to pick a team to support and that will make watching the game
that much more difficult.
When the same sides met each other three years ago it was easy to support Barcelona.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas thinks that Real Madrid had a positive season in the year
2010-2011. But warned that Real Madrid should keep on improving their results in order to achieve
the maximum number of titles that can be won. I think the attitude of Real Madrid players, where
they think that Real Madrid [.
According to caught offside today, Liverpool are preparing a bid of around £8m for Florent Malouda
and believe that with just a year remaining on his contract, Chelsea could be willing to cash in on
the Frenchman. This is not the first time they have been linked with a move for him either!. Only
the other week I posted that Malouda wasn't happy with the deal Chelsea have offered him to stay
on.
No passion no game Guest Post by Simeon Velev I am a bit frustrated by all the "Wenger should buy
or he should go" attitude that has spread amongst the Arsenal fans. I don't want to defend Arsene
but I want to share a rather different point of view. In these days our favourite [...]
It is not often that I have been ashamed to be an Arsenal fan, but sadly today was one of those
days. It wasn't to do with the team, the manager, the result, it was the quite pathetic behaviour
and attitude of a group of so called 'Arsenal fans' who booed their players in a pre season
friendly match.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalgish has bemoaned the timing of the upcoming mid-week friendly
internationals as he prepares for the start of the Premier League season.
The Reds finished their pre-season schedule with a 2-0 victory at Anfield against Valencia on
Saturday. The match came a week before they kick-off their domestic campaign with a trip to
Sunderland.
Kenny Dalglish was delighted with the way Liverpool put their preparations for the new season back
on track with victory over Valencia and reserved special praise for goalscorer Andy Carroll.
The former Newcastle striker, a big money buy in January, notched his third goal of pre-season
against the La Liga outfit, to set the Reds on their way, before Dirk Kuyt's late second sealed the
win.

I'm struck today - after my maudlin ramble last night that was mostly down to putting fingers to
keyboard at halftime and then changing course mid-stream - by the thing on which so many people are
focused after the Americans managed to salvage a draw against Mexico last night in Philadelphia.
Its clear that Arsene Wenger needs someone new at Arsenal as months of ongoing transfer gossip
involving the sales of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas finally look to be coming to a close.
Team spirit is Wenger's number one priority, he constantly repeats it in his interviews, and I
would strongly concur with him.
News in the Sunday Sun today that Newcastle are after Wigan striker Hugo Rodallega. Hugo Rodallega
- Newcastle interested The two strikers Newcastle have now targeted are both England-based, and are
Rodallega and Nicklas Bendtner of Arsenal. But Newcastle have some doubts about Bendtner's
character and attitude, but Alan Pardew has nevertheless presented both names [.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says he will not be spending for the sake of buying in this
month's transfer window and will instead focus on the players currently at Anfield.
The 59-year-old will attempt to get the best out of the existing squad, and will start by getting
their confidence up.
He also commented that the current squad is a lot better than the team's critics are making out.
This was Arsene Wenger's description of our performance.
We had both a good result and a good performance. We had quality in our attitude, spirit and
focus.
Yes, in the end of the day it is the result that matters but on this day, we got all the
concoction right.
Chelsea's big win against Bolton Wanderers last Monday give a much more valid prove that the
Blues are finally getting back into their old self, with the striking department start to click
their engine once again the other part of the team looked more secured.
However, aside from applauding the improvement that his squad are making, the club's tactician,
Carlo Ancelotti, still plan to add the defensive reinforcement he has been planning since the
winter and the tactician confirmed that David Luiz is their new target.
On the attitude a United education instils (March 2010): The idea was that
you've never made it. With a young player sometimes you hear people saying: 'He's made it.' Our
idea was that you've never made it. You can perform well here and still be out if you don't fit the
plan. There are no passengers, it's a conveyor belt, and if you're not contributing to the success
of the club in some way you won't be here much longer.

Last night, Andy Najar, D.C. United's teenage Honduran-American phenom, put the question of which
nation he should represent as an international to the people of Twitter. Considering the timing and
the nonstop speculation over Najar's decision, the query caused what qualifies, in the soccer world
at least, as a mild frenzy.
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina The president of the Argentina Football Association says Carlos Tevez has
been dropped from the national team as a punishment for missing the previous friendly match. Tevez

Arsene Wenger is extremely impressed with his young terrier of a midfielder, Jack Wilshere, and
although he wants him to keep his temper in check, he also loves to see him fighting for every
ball. "It's more than aggression," Wenger said. "I'd call it commitment......" "Aggression is
something negative but he has a committed attitude [.
In the buildup to the Champions League second round tie between Lyon and Real Madrid, Karim
Benzema sat down to talk about his time at Lyon, the move to Real Madrid, Zidane, the upcoming Lyon
v Real Madrid game, and rising French stars.
Some highlights:
On comparisons with Ronaldo (Brazilian):
I do not know, maybe the technique.
Didier Drogba spoke to the media after the game last night and has reiterated that he is happy at
Chelsea, the arrival of Fernando Torres hasn't unsettled him and spoke of our chances in the League
and the Champions League.
He said:
"There will always be talk about my future, I keep saying it, I'm here and I'm giving
everything and it's normal that the club wants to buy another striker because we are ambitious and
we want to win the Champions League.
Fire midfielder Davis Paul (7) -- ISI PhotosThe Chicago Fire officially signed midfielder and 2011
third-round selection Davis Paul on Thursday. "We've been pleased with Davis' skill, effort and
attitude on and off the field," Fire technical director Frank Klopas said in a statement. "Davis is
a creative player and a strong competitor, with the ability to play up top and on the wing.
F O'Brian White (off 73) -- I know some people are getting frustrated with the big Jamaican, but
on Saturday he really took one for the team. All that space that Montero got to enjoy in front of
the centerbacks was due to White pressing the defense as high as he could (very noticeable on
Fredy's knuckling shot from distance in the 27th minute).
Frank Lampard is featured in an interview published in The Sun, talking of David Luiz and the
impact he has had on the club since he joined the club and you get the impression that Lamps feels
the same as all of us. He loves him!.
He said:
"I can only be pleased we've got him, because he would be ideal for the
Arsenal.
Good interview with Paul Hayward of the Guardian:
"West Bromwich Albion, like Fulham, have a certain appeal and I knew there were some good
football players here, talented people. I thought they had the right attitude – the chairman and
Dan Ashworth, the sporting director. I thought it would be a nicer way to finish the season than
leaving Liverpool and not doing anything for six months.
Arsenal's defeat against Bolton Wanderer last weekend has made the Gunners' title bit gets even
harder and finally left the team's manager, Arsene Wenger, starting to lose his confidence over his
team's chance in competing with Manchester United in the premier league.
Admitting their chances gets even slimmer, Wenger stated that he is still proud with his players
and claiming their slump that the team's having is all down to him not his boys.
Frank Lampard spoke after the West Ham game of Fernando Torres and his first goal for Chelsea and
believes it will be the start of something special at Chelsea. After coming to Chelsea himself for
big money back then, he understands the pressure Torres had been under but has been impressed with
Torres' attitude while searching for his first goal.
Patrice Evra has tried to rally his players ahead of the massive game on Sunday and you get the
sense by reading his comments that United couldn't understand why they played the way they did
against Arsenal and if they do that again they know Chelsea will take full advantage!.
He said:
"We have our destiny in our hands.
Normally I wouldn't bother regurgitating what's been said on another website, but considering
the split opinions on whether this has been a good or disappointing season (some can be seen in the
comments of this mornings article) I thought it would be interesting. For the last few months I've
been bleeting on to anyone who will listen about our league form, or lack of form if being
pedantic.
Union
Carlos Ruiz says anything less than three points in Toronto will be an embarrassment. THAT'S the
attitude I'm looking for!
MLSsoccer.com previews Saturday's game. In Goal.com's head-to-head preview, the Philly guy
predicts a 2–0 win for the Union, the Toronto guy a 1–1 draw. The Friday MLS Forecast at
Goal.
Again claims are being made that the breakaway league, the Liga Primer Indonesia, will not continue
after the mid season break. Again though the claim is being made by PSM which doesn't seem to stop
them being linked with Edward Wilson Junior and Pierre Njanka.
Yesterday, on Twitter so it must be true (!
'I miss football already'
'What am I going to do without football?'
'My life is rubbish without football'
'Can't wait to see some football'
All these are comments I've heard or read over the last few days. For any football fanatic, the
summer can be a tough time.
