Steven Gerrard today sent out an ominous warning to teams across the continent by declaring in-form
Fernando Torres is only going to improve over the rest of the season.
With Liverpool chasing a top four Premier League finish and success in the Europa League, the
return to form and fitness of the Spanish striker has come as a timely boost for the Reds, who
travel to Manchester United at the weekend on the back of two morale boosting victories.
While the U.S. national team took away most of the attention this weekend, now that the victory
vs. Turkey is in the bag, American fans can turn their attentions to Major League Soccer.
The MLS schedule tonight features a battle of unbeatens as the Los Angeles Galaxy takes on the
Columbus Crew for the title of best team in MLS.
There were no surprises on the night then. Sadly for us gooners, Messi rose to the occasion and
when the best player in the world is on top of his game there isn't much the opposition can do.
We started the second leg far better than the first one pressing high up the pitch and forcing
mistakes from the Barca players.

million mark this summer alone following the arrivals of Yaya Toure, David Silva and Jerome
Boateng.

debt-ridden Portsmouth in the Premier League, and this term he has turned his attentions to
ensuring West Ham don't also suffer the embarrassment of relegation.
While it has not exactly been the start that the former Chelsea boss would have hoped for with
the Hammers currently sitting bottom of the league, they are currently on a four game unbeaten run
in the Premier League.

Vagner Love in their search for attacking reinforcements, according to a report in Hamburger

candidate.
Walter (centre) back amongst the goals at Inter
In March last year, Internacional's Walter Henrique da Silva was amongst the bunch of young

mark. But the 20-year-old suffered a serious knee injury and has only just returned to training
after an eight month layoff.

West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola has expressed his disappointment in former teammate Eidur
Gudjohnsen after the Icelandic striker made an 11th hour move to Tottenham instead of the
Hammers.
"I am disappointed with Spurs and disappointed with Gudjohnsen. I was expecting good behaviour
from him," Zola said.
The challenges of playing against a team that counter-attacks as well as Manchester United does is
that it exposes holes in a sides defense.
The game becomes a form of 'chicken', with the opposing team having to choose the lesser of two
evils - do you absorb the opposing team's counter-attack with numbers behind the ball, or do you
step up higher to press them - exposing yourself to potential counters?

2009-10.
Sunday's 3-0 dismantling of Sunderland was arguably one of Reds' most fluent performances of the

Chivas USA 2 New York Red Bulls 0
That was as ugly a two goal win as you're ever going to see.
I'm sure Chivas USA Coach Martin Vasquez doesn't care now that he's avoided going 0-3.
The second goal came in second half stoppage time, Jesus Padilla getting on the end of a Zach
Thornton hoof up field and fighting off the attentions of defender Jeremy Hall to put the ball past
Bouna Coundoul in the most direct goal we've seen at the HDC in a while.
When my wife gave birth a couple of months ago, we we going to call the baby 'Aaron' if it were
a boy. Instead our baby was a girl and we unwittingly still managed to name her after a Tottenham
legend. We called her 'Rose'.
If I were Danny Rose I would announce my retirement this morning, safe in the knowledge that
things could never get any better in my career.
Inter Milan stunned Barcelona to take a 3-1 first-leg lead in their UEFA Champions League
semi-final.
José Mourinho's team inflicted only a fourth defeat of the season on a Barcelona side bidding
to make modern history by retaining the trophy. Instead, the goals from Wesley Sneijder, Maicon and
Diego Milito, in response to Pedro Rodríguez's away goal, will greatly encourage Inter's own dream
of a first European crown since 1965.
With the greatest respect for Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Inter Milan are the two best teams left
in the competition. Tomorrows winner will go into the final as favourites and rightly so. Barcelona
would enter the Bernabeu as reigning champions having overcome a two goal first-leg deficit against
Italys best to reach the final.
Title chasing Chelsea, fresh from their seven-goal thumping of Stoke City last weekend, visit
Liverpool, looking for three points that will keep them top of the table going into the final day
and, if results go their way elsewhere, could even secure the championship with a game to
spare.
For Liverpool a season which promised so much after last season's second place finish has become
only more disappointing the longer it has gone on and after the Europa League semi-final defeat to
Atletico Madrid on Thursday, the club are left with only the slightest of hopes of a top-four
finish, and realistically only a Europa League place to play for.
Better than Drogba
Congratulations to Chelsea for winning the Premier League.
Congratulations to Blogger 1-1-8 for winning our mini-league for the first time in 5 years. His

As the richest club in the world, Manchester City is being linked with this summer's blockbuster
moves but they'll have to do their business without the lure of Champions League football. The
Citizens narrowly finished outside of England's top four this season after a disappointing home
loss to Tottenham nearly a week ago, and Roberto Mancini fears that the failure could cost his club
in the transfer market.

I played soccer competitively from the time I could walk until I was 16 years old. I was pretty
good too due to the fact that I had elite speed and stamina for my age back then. I wasn't the
best leader (I liked to chuck it up from distance), I didn't have the best skills (I was not known
for my ability to bend it a la Beckham), and I certainly didn't have amazing vision (not with cold
winter winds whipping into my face.
With Dagenham & Redbridge's win over Rotherham at Wembley completed, domestic football is back in
its box until August. So, for the next few Thursdays, we shall direct our attentions to matters of
a World Cup hue. This Friday will mark the 7 days to go mark before the whole shebang kicks off in
Johannesburg and two sides featuring 09-10 Championship players happen to meet that night in a
