From Down Under:
"The average salary in the A-League is far more than the
average salary in the MLS, but that's a league that's been around for more than 15 years, in a huge
market and with average crowds of 16,000. I can't see any single reason for the fact that the
salaries in Australia are higher than they are in the U.
I've had about eleven hours to think about the results of the 2022 World Cup announcement, read
my peers, and come to grips with the failure of the USSF to land the World Cup. And I think I
have a handle on my thoughts and emotions about today. I watched the announcement via the EPL
Talk live blog and Twitter, so I was spared the gut-punch of seeing the card with Qatar on it.
Fulham today, and unfortunately it's another no-show from me. I try not to let life intrude too
much in football but somehow or other I appear to possess small children and they throw a spanner
in the works. This season my attendance has been as inconsistent as I can remember. I go to one
then just when you think I'll go to another, I can't.
More than 350 scouts and college coaches have registered at the 2010 Winter Showcase in just the
first two days of the event. A large amount of them were in attendance at the Academy Select match
today between the 1992-93 Select Teams on Field 4 here at Reach 11. For a list of the registered
coaches and scouts, click here.
Every Friday well, at least that's the plan New England Soccer Today will tackle a
pressing issue in the world of soccer. Each topic will be argued by a different writer each
week, with guest writers periodically appearing to add some flavor to the
mix.
This week, our writers debate the following question: "After selecting him in
Re-entry Process, should the Revs make a serious push to sign Fred?
The USA bid claimed that staging the tournament in the US would generate new broadcasting,
sponsorship and attendance records for Fifa. Japan bid proposed a World Cup based on major
technological advances which will allow for life-size 3D holographic coverage of matches at over
400 fan parks around the world.

Former U.S. Men's National Team captain and midfielder and current U.S. Soccer Youth Technical
Director Claudio Reyna spoke to the captains of all the Development Academy teams who played on day
one about the Respect Campaign.
After his speech, all the captains in attendance signed that big board in the background in a
pledge to honor the campaign.
After an on going discussion over what portion of Manchester was red and what was blue, I had a
look at attendances of the season just gone.
Despite the fact that more fans have come to watch United play than City every single
season since 1947, long before the glory supporters from outside of Manchester, which
therefore suggests United is the more popular team to have been passed down from one generation to
the next, you often hear people (usually who have never been to Manchester) suggesting City is the
more popular team in Manchester.
Along with player development, another integral part of the Development Academy is referee
development. Academy matches, and Showcase matches in particular, give up and coming referees a
chance to call high profile matches in front of large crowds and their peers.
Three U.S. Soccer full-time referees were in Phoenix to mentor the referees in attendance and act
as the fourth official at the Nike International Friendlies.
You will have all recognized the unmistakable Black Yellows ie Borussia Dortmund! Autumn
Champions of this year's Bundesliga, 10 points ahead of Mainz and I'm ready to bet will stay ahead
and win the German title this year. Even better, the team's players are 22 years old on
average.

La Liga Lowdown, Jornada 15: Getafe bring the good stuff is a post from: Just Football
Not so long ago, Getafe coach Míchel was being questioned by some in the
press, but their recent form and win over Villarreal will surely keep them quiet
for now. It's true they had lost a few games, but included amongst those were losses to Barcelona
and Valencia; no one expected them to win those games and a temporary slip down the table was
almost inevitable.
A report out of Serbia claim that the Fire is interested in two young Red Star Belgrade players.
One is 25 year old striker Aleksandar Jevtic and the other is 20 year old attacking midfielder
Darko Lazovic.
Here's a Lazovic highlight video (albeit a few years old) and a look at Jevtic in action.
Liverpool and Utrecht played out a dismal goalless draw in their Europa League Group K dead
rubber at Anfield.
With Liverpool guaranteed to in first place in the group and Utrecht unable to qualify for the
knockout stages, there was little to play or, for both sides and as a result this was more liek a
boring friendly than an European night at Anfield.
With snow now covering the football pitches of Poland it's time to put together a beginners
guide to Polish league fitba and the Ekstraklasa...Obviously it will be a subjective guide as I'm
fanatically following Lechia Gdansk...
With Euro 2012 fast approaching interest is rising.
Football Federation Australia is spending less than half the amount marketing the A-League in this,
its sixth season, than it did when the competition started in August 2005. The game's governing
body is investing between $2 million and $2.5m on marketing, media support, advertising and other
promotional activity for 2010-11, a season where the on-field standards have probably never been
higher but the attendance figures never more disappointing.
