The U.S. Men's National Team's 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier match against Jamaica on Tuesday,
Sept. 11, at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, has sold out. Nearly 24,000 spectators will
be on hand to watch the U.S. at the home of Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew, marking the fifth
sellout for MNT matches played at the stadium.
If the Revs were awarded a point for every time you've heard the Jay Heaps mantra, "We Will
Attack" we'd be comfortably atop the Eastern Conference. But we're not; and the Revs standings-wise
are in no better position than 2011. Even though we find ourselves in the cold, dark and lonely
basement of the East, can we say that there has been improvement in the main area the rookie coach
sought to improve?
DC United has drifted into a deep malaise over the past two months. Only sporadically does the
team seem to be in sync. Play is unfocused and only moments of individual brilliance have allowed
the team to salvage as many points as they have.
Frustration is the spirit of the day and Sunday's game saw it come out.
The MLS All Stars put on a nice show last night and proved that if you put the UEFA Champions
League winners on enough planes in a short enough span of time, even a bunch of loosely assembled
MLS players can emerge victorious. None of this changes the fact that MLS is far from the best
soccer on the planet.
Seattle Sounders' Montero on form, but young Chelsea attackers shine too bright - originally
posted on Soccerlens.com
Deep in the furthest Pacific Northwest reaches of Major League Soccer, a fully-engaged Seattle
Sounders helped kick off Chelsea's pre-season tour of the United States. Blue versus a light sea
foam-ish green was the scene, a decidedly mild color combination on the field to clash nicely with
the incredibly energetic vibe in the stands.
In a game that was really in their control throughout, the Sounders needed to come from behind
to beat that other Chivas USA, after two set pieces had the home team down 2-1. But as the first
team did on Saturday, so the reserves mimicked on Sunday, as Seattle picked up their second
straight come-from-behind reserve win with a 4-2 victory.
I am referring to the Atletico Madrid nightmare the other night of course. Now if you are not a
regular on my blog you wouldn't know that I had to miss the game (as I explained
here) and now have had the chance to watch it in full and my god, Chelsea were so
predictable and in a word "boring!
Crew Stadium has been a great home for the U.S. Men's National Team
A sold-out crowd will pack Columbus Crew Stadium on Tuesday night, which has proved to be a
fortress for the U.S. Men's National Team. The United States has posted an unbeaten 5-0-3 record
there since 2000, including a 4-0-2 record in World Cup qualifying.
After each match the contributors to New England Soccer Today will rate the performances of
the New England Revolution players who made an appearance on a 1 to 10 scale (1 horrendous, 5
average, 10 perfection). This week Sean Donahue and Ryan Lanigan contributed ratings for the New
England Revolution's 2-0 victory over the Columbus Crew.
Good day to you. This fine Saturday begins with a most fulsome *boilk* and not
being able to find flip-flops thus having to walk on the stones to retrieve the dog who from time
to time thinks he produces enormous lumps of hot food from his arse. Not pleasant.
What are our attacking options? by AH Well after yesterday's disappointment in the lack of transfer
movement, we now know our final squad. The first XI looks reasonably strong however we lack in
squad depth which could be a problem. I mentioned in my earlier squad analysis article that we had
reasonably good reinforcements in [.
Arsenal Back up Striker could be Ba by TS Hey for a second there, I thought AW was content with
Giroud and Chamakh as our two front line attackers. Then reports flew in like a pigeon to some
bread that Newcastle are lining up a move for the Dutch striker De Jong. Why? Well Arsenal [...]
Arsene Wenger has leapt to the defence of Olivier Giroud and
Lukas Podolski, and has assured Arsenal fans that his misfiring
attackers will soon start scoring goals.
Amid Robin van Persie's transfer from Arsenal to Man Utd and Luka Modric's imminent move away
from Spurs to Real Madrid, questions are again to be raised over what exactly motivates footballers
and the choices they make. The life of a top level footballer seems pretty surreal – taken out of
school early to end up being paid hundreds of thousands of pounds to play a game two times a week
in front of thousands of spectators with their lives lived in the glare of the paparazzi, it's
hardly your average life.
I think it's probably fair to say that most Gooners are approaching Saturday's season opener
with a mix of anticipation and expectation.
Or, to put it another way, excitement tempered by a nagging concern (like the way you might feel
if your most reckless friend invited you for a spin on the back of his new motorbike).

Liverpool remain keen to sign Theo Walcott from Arsenal, despite being unable to make progress on
the deal all summer.
Reports suggest new Reds boss Brendan Rodgers wants to add pace and width to his new-look Anfield
squad and the England international fits the bill.
He has been linked with a move for the ex-Southampton man for several weeks, but the fact no deal
has yet been done is not putting Rodgers off.
yesterday's UK bank holiday meant things were a bit quieter than we might have liked, but I
suspect this is going to be a busy week. Not just for Arsenal, but for many clubs as the transfer
window closes on Friday and with it the final chance to boost/replenish/streamline squads.
With star attackers Kyle Bekker and Charlie Rugg sidelined, the 14th-ranked Boston College
Eagles lacked much of their offensive fire power on Friday, but still managed to leave Quinnipiac
with a season opening 2-1 win.
The Eagles (1-0-0) were outshot by the Bobcats (0-1-0), 11-10, and Eagles goalkeeper Justin
Luthy made five saves in the win.
After all the twist and turn, the deal that has been on the table for some weeks is
finally sealed. Emmanuel Adebayor will be back in North London again.
Once there were questions about his passion in football. Whatever portion Manchester City is now
contributing towards his salary, the deal is indeed a win-win-win one.

* It was an interesting line-up that hinted at the current pecking order within the Arsenal squad.
Jenkinson is going to be given a chance at right-back in Sagna's absence, rather than Coquelin or
Yennaris being asked to fill in. Gibbs is currently a starter ahead of Santos, and Diaby will
probably be preferred to Ramsey, if it comes down to a choice between the two.
More of the same. Not really going to review the game because if you saw any league match in July
you saw this game.
My key to the game was the Rapids figuring out how to win. Not yet. Other Observations:
The first Sounders goal we just got beat on. It was a corner kick and Johnson did a good job of
getting his man (Wynne it looks like) caught in traffic so EJ could have a free header.
A reverse MLS Cup. In Toronto Dallas scored first and then gave up two goals. Saturday night we
scored first and then gave up two goals. Other than that, if you saw the Seattle loss or the
Vancouver loss or the San Jose loss then you saw this game. I'm not going to spend any time
rehashing what we already know.
The USA celebrates Morgan Brian's opening goal in the semifinal
The U.S. U-20 WNT put on another excellent performance to down Nigeria 2-0 in the semifinal of the
2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. It was the USA's second consecutive victory over a team that had
won its first round group and now a much-anticpated World Cup Final against Germany awaits.
Featured player Nicklas Bendtner's club future looks to be sorted, after weeks of rumours flying
around about the Danish attackers future it looks to have been decided yesterday with Bianconeri
director Beppe Marrota confirming N.B-52 is 'already in Italy and will undergo a medical
tomrrow'.
Stewart Downing could have a Liverpool future as a left-back, according to Reds boss Brendan
Rodgers.
The £20million signing from Aston Villa has struggled at Anfield since his arrival last summer and
has been usurped from his left-wing role by 17-year-old Raheem Sterling.
But Rodgers used Downing at full-back against Hearts in the club's Europa League play-off and is
planning a new role for the 28-year-old England international on a long-term basis.
It's been a while since Arsenal mounted a serious title challenge and their fans have become
increasingly frustrated at Arsene Wenger's seeming refusal to be competitive in the transfer
market. This summer, at long last, Arsenal have been splashing the cash, but it looks as though as
it may be too late to convince captain Robin van Persie that the club is ambitious enough to win
trophies.
The Portland Timbers reserves won their match up against the Oregon State Beavers today with a
score of 2-1. All three goal scorers were Timbers with Brent Richards and Franck Songo'o scoring
for the Timbers while U23's product Emory Welshman got on the board for OSU.
The Timbers played two very different games in the first and second halves.
I am ever the optimist and always try to find the silver lining in dark and stormy clouds and
these last few months have not been even close to the CumulUs humilis of last year. The clouds have
not even been the typical Nimbostratus clouds of a normal up and down season but have been the
cumulonimbus incus which usually foretells a very rough patch in the weather.
