Here's a little firecracker to start the morning off. Last night's last-16 tie in the KNVB Cup
between Ajax and AZ Alkmaar had to be abandoned after just 38 minutes (with Ajax leading 1-0) after
an incident involving a pitch invader caused the away side to leave the field in protest.
A Hearts fan has been charged with assault aggravated by religious prejudice after a
touchline attack on Celtic coach Neil Lennon during the Hoops' 3-0 win at Hearts.
Trailing 2-0 at the time, the angry Hearts fan evaded crowd police and raced his way towards the
away dugout where he launched himself at the Celtic boss.
Not sure what set this goose off . . . maybe the ref made a bad call.
ZAGREB, Croatia — Croatia on Tuesday charged nine hooligans for attacking a bus of PAOK fans
ahead of the Greek club's Europa League match against Dinamo Zagreb in December. Four Greek
nationals were injured in the December 14 incident. The nine, aged between 18 and 23, were charged
with stoning the bus ferrying around 40 [.
Arsene Wenger is feeling much more confident this season than when Arsenal faced Barcelona in last
year's Champions League Quarter-Finals. The Gunners only managed to come back to earn a draw at the
Emirates last time, but Wenger is confident that he has a substantially stronger side this time
around.
